He’s a 2 WAR guy who might get to 3 with BABIP luck since he doesn’t strike out. You're acting like he didn't have a great season the year before or any time before his STL season. I'm obviously not bullish on Heyward moving forward (which sucks, because I was a huge fan of signing him) but it's not like the Cubs were the only team who thought he'd be good. He was a 4 win guy in 2014 because of defense - his slugging that year was lower than it was in 2018 or 2017. He's had 3 good offensive years, two were before the injuries and one was the weird cardinals season where he hit .293 randomly. If you think he's hitting .293 again, i think you're setting yourself up for disappointment. -
I want Chavez back, give him a Duensing type deal to lower the LT hit. and also kill duensing

if you can get elite bullpen innings out of jesse chavez, it's at least in the realm of possibilities that alec mills can be kinda good for 50 innings or so if used properly

maddon is the perfect example of how none of us know just how much impact a manager can actually have. Four years here, four 90+ win seasons! Wow! Also we've had awesome players that whole time. Hmm. World Series win! Also he fucked that series up and we won in spite of him. He's not afraid of new concepts and will try different things to get value out of his players. Also he's a Trump-loving buffoon who can't even say the right thing about domestic violence even when given multiple opportunities. I feel like he's a good coach who players like and that is very important, especially with our roster where most of the key players have been here under Maddon and will be here in the future. Keeping that kind of culture going is a positive and possibly a very big positive. On a macro scale (particularly visible during the playoffs for obvious reasons) he's not that great.

Almora has always been a tweener between AAA-quality and MLB quality. That's just how draft picks go sometimes. Replacing Rizzo with Schwarber? Apparently you're not thinking straight because of the loss last night. No, the idea would be to leverage Rizzo into helping make improvements throughout the roster. Realistically, I don't think it's possible, but this isn't a strong 1st base market, and there's several teams that could look to upgrade. I don't love the constant lineup machinations, so if you could construct a deal where Rizzo nets you two key assets, and then subsequently move Schwarber to first, I don't know if it's the worst idea. To put it into a bit more specificity, say you could land a starting OF/top of the order type hitter and a 2nd baseman for Rizzo, both guys being relatively young-ish (that is, we aren't talking about 30+ year old guys) would you do it? If you could lop in Bryce Harper after that ... Again, I don't think it will happen, but it has nothing to do with last night's loss. wtf lol this isn't baseball mogul. Anyway. You gotta prioritize one of the two bats. If you get one of them, preferably harper, our floor is probably "really good" offense and our ceiling (bryant and contreras bouncing back) is super elite. -
