  1. He came in with a 3-run lead. You've got to let him get out on the mound and straighten himself out, and if you're not going to do it in three run games, when are you going to do it.
  2. And just like that, it's back to a 17 point game. It'll be a six or seven point game by the ten minute mark of the second half, just wait.
  3. "This game..is ova" - Billy Packer with 7:32 left First off, this lead is not insurmountable by any means, especially with this much time left, and secondovely, what kind of announcer says that with almost 28 minutes left to go?
  4. Notice that Snood hasn't posted yet? I bet he's freaking out right now.
  5. "This...award...is the...award...(looks off camera) that I wanted....to win.....more than any....(looks off camera) award." Sure it is, buddy. Snood was nice and spared you all the knee injury photos, so CBS shoves some FMV up in your grill. Suck on that, ladies.
  6. I think that would be in doubt this year. The OBP different may make up for the power difference. What if you could trade Soriano for a good young SS but still had to pay part of Soriano's contract? How much of it is too much to get rid of him? The next problem is who has an extra SS that would actually want Soriano. Soriano,Cedeno and $25 million for Khalil Greene? Soriano would still have over $100m left on his deal. I think it's safe to say that SD would laugh right in our stupid faces.
  7. Both of those were bad, but they've got nothing on Eduardo's double compound fracture. None of them can hold a candle to the slamball player that broke his foot off
  8. That's the worst a 23-year old Cedeno would give you. What's the worst a 25-year old Theriot would give you? Do you feel that if Theriot had played a full season at shortstop in 2005, that his numbers would have been worse than the numbers he put up in 2007? not really. he was polished in 2005; he probably would've given the same blah production that he gave last year. at this point i am just sort of hoping that theriot completely craps the bed for the next month and we can see what happens with cedeno. I disagree, but let's go back further. A 23-year old Theriot OPSd .671 at lansing and .621 in West Tenn. You think that a 25-year old Theriot would have OPSd the same (.672) in the majors. That's an improvement, no? Why isn't Cedeno capable of an improvement from his age 23 to age 25 seasons? This is what I'm talking about when I say "sticking to an irrational point for the hell of it".
  9. That's the worst a 23-year old Cedeno would give you. What's the worst a 25-year old Theriot would give you? Do you feel that if Theriot had played a full season at shortstop in 2005, that his numbers would have been worse than the numbers he put up in 2007?
  10. This is a pretty great post, TT. except that if you take out any player's best month, his numbers are likely to not look so hot. Take out Lee's april last year (.392/.468/.567) and he still hit 302.379/.502
  11. Ouch. That cannot feel good. Ugh, I always get squeamish about knee injuries. Kneecap injuries sound painful. Never hurt my knee, but I cannot watch ankle injuries. I'm the same way. Sometimes I picture myself rolling my ankle and my body involuntarily jumps. Yeah, I'm that way with knee injuries. I'm not clicking that link no matter what. I was going to just post it in the thread, but I realized a lot of people would rather not see something like that. Derwood's description is right, though. Where there should be a knee cap, all you see is a deep crater. I've never seen anything like it. I can't decide if its worse than Shaun Livingston's ET knee from last year or not
  12. Braun's such a good athlete that I would be shocked if he doesn't learn to play an adequate leftfield. But either way, Laporta is going to be ready soon, and that leaves two spots (left and first) for three people. Someone is going to have to go.
  13. Today's game was a perfect example of the stupid overreaction of some people to four games. All it took was one game for Derrek Lee to up his average to .364 and his OPS to 1.091. Soriano and Ramirez are a hot week away from respectability. Everyone needs to chill.
  14. Awesome. Unfortunately Pie will never get off the bench, now.
  15. Theriot whiffs weakly and Cedeno singles to RC, signs of things to come plzplplzplzpzlz
  16. He had some nice backdoor (thats what she said) movement on a couple of pitches, he just kept getting himself in trouble by falling behind in counts. I think that when he does that, he straightens out his fastball and gets hammered.
  17. lol, somebody left their account logged on in a public place
  18. How in the world did neither Bourn nor Pence get to that ball? Calling Soto 2-run homer
  19. Wow, you weren't kidding.
  20. any improvement in theriot's numbers at this point is going to be due to luck on balls in play or steroids. he is who he is
  21. This is a prime example of why people should shut the F up about players "not showing up" four games into a season. Lee is 2-for-2 today, and his average is now .300. Two hits is all it took.
  22. how in the hell do you only accumulate 975 abs in 7 years? Im stumped.
  23. ryan theriot for the orioles 2009 first round draft pick and the rights to matt weiters
