  1. I agree with you. I don't think people are overestimating him to the extent that you do, but people definitely have tunnel vision on him.
  2. Zambrano: Not mexican
  3. Last year, Jason Kendall, Ryan Therito, Cliff Floyd/Jacque Jones were everyday starters for a contending team. If Soriano, Aram, DLee, Fukudome, Soto and DeRo hit like they are capable of then you can live with a starting CF learning the ropes playing great defense. Theriot on the other hand doesnt bring defense or offense to the table, but the Cubs could still be contenders with both of them in the lineup. However, an upgrade at SS would make things much much easier, while letting the organizations top prospect play defense and provide what offense he can. Pie has shown an uncanny ability to make adjustments at every level hes been on when hes been given a chance to fight thru his struggles, and Im praying the Cubs are patient enough to let him see if he can make the adjustments at this level. You feel better with Rotoworld confirming what I said or do you still think I'm full of it? I never said I didnt believe you, I just found it odd nothing was mentioned yesterday about it. Just sucks for Felix cause hes going to be sitting for probably a week. Based on your comment in the game thread today, I think it's pretty clear you didn't believe me. quit bumping this thread to rub it in his face that you were right.
  4. thanks for batting such a terrible hitter in front of Lee and Tejada, dudes
  5. if only meph was here So I can be banned for not being sold on Ronny Cedeno? if that's what you got out of that exchange, then I question your mental faculties
  6. oops garage party, cram it. you're making a fool of yourself
  7. man, at least get it out of the infield
  8. YES, if Soriano starts hitting, this lineup is going to be pretty good.
  9. "Robbed" is a bit much. Beasley is clearly the better player, but I think the thing that most set TH over Beasley is that he's a junior whereas MB is a freshman. Now you want to talk about "robbed" see NL MVP 2007. Giving someone an award because they are a junior as opposed to a freshman is an absolutely hideous impersonation of a joke. Beasley is a better player than Hansbrough and put up better numbers on a crappier team, and his reward for carrying a team that would've won 12 games without him to the NCAA tournament is to get passed up by a dude who tonight was the ringleader of his team's biggest weakness - interior defense. How many alley-oops did Kansas throw down tonight, and where was the national player of the year to do anything about them? I didn't say it was right for them to do it, but that I suspect that's one of the main reasons why TH got it. I may be completely and utterly wrong. I'm sure you're pretty much on target. Especially considering how loathing college basketball has become of the whole leave school early thing. "Sure he's worse offensively and defensively but he stayed until his junior year, dammit!" Did you hear the whole Dick Enberg 4-year SR award spiel tonight? For the player who has "fulfilled his commitment by staying an entire four years at his school." The way Enberg said "fulfilled his commitment" made my brain leak out onto my keyboard. This sort of thing is really prevalent in college football ("sure Adrian Peterson had the best year, but he has two more seasons to win this award!") but it makes even less sense in college basketball where a guy like Beasley is a sure-fire one and done.
  10. Braun would be the last of the three I'd trade. i'd imagine Laporta would be the first to be traded, he'll be cheap and have the most trade value, and Braun and Fielder should be entrenched as franchise faces by then (if they aren't already)
  11. I hate wanting that team to win for money. Watching them spend an entire possession trying to draw a charge a minute ago was utterly nauseating. And I don't think I've ever hated a college player like I hate Hansbrough. He's insufferable. Greg Paulus?? Duke>>>>>>>>UNC. And that's not a compliment to Duke - I don't like them, but I have a white-hot hatred of the Heels. Jon Scheyer for me. Ever since I saw , it's been all hatred from me.
  12. I nailed this one. Six point lead with 12 minutes left.
  13. It really is like both teams just traded places.
  14. Quick update from Tennessee Sammy 5ip, 3h, 2BB, 1K, 1ER 5GO, 9FO Colvin 1-3 with a run Harvey 1-2 with a run and an RBI
  15. He came in with a 3-run lead. You've got to let him get out on the mound and straighten himself out, and if you're not going to do it in three run games, when are you going to do it.
  16. And just like that, it's back to a 17 point game. It'll be a six or seven point game by the ten minute mark of the second half, just wait.
  17. "This game..is ova" - Billy Packer with 7:32 left First off, this lead is not insurmountable by any means, especially with this much time left, and secondovely, what kind of announcer says that with almost 28 minutes left to go?
  18. Notice that Snood hasn't posted yet? I bet he's freaking out right now.
  19. "This...award...is the...award...(looks off camera) that I wanted....to win.....more than any....(looks off camera) award." Sure it is, buddy. Snood was nice and spared you all the knee injury photos, so CBS shoves some FMV up in your grill. Suck on that, ladies.
  20. I think that would be in doubt this year. The OBP different may make up for the power difference. What if you could trade Soriano for a good young SS but still had to pay part of Soriano's contract? How much of it is too much to get rid of him? The next problem is who has an extra SS that would actually want Soriano. Soriano,Cedeno and $25 million for Khalil Greene? Soriano would still have over $100m left on his deal. I think it's safe to say that SD would laugh right in our stupid faces.
  21. Both of those were bad, but they've got nothing on Eduardo's double compound fracture. None of them can hold a candle to the slamball player that broke his foot off
