  1. Your post lacks the biting sarcasm I've come to expect from you. Having sympathy for me tonight? I know, I'm working atm and it's hard to be funny and pay attention to a baseball game at the same time.
  2. Brian Roberts was also dealing with all of the same business, and he has a 1.131 OPS. I think I've stumbled onto the new moneyball. All you do is put trade rumors up around your roster in the offseason and just sit back and enjoy the career high OPS
  3. Uh, he has a .953 OPS right now. I'd say the errors will even themselves out as the season goes along.
  4. little known fact: the late 90s yankees instituted a strict "lashes for errors" policy that torre credited for their improved team defense
  5. 7 walks in 31 plate appearances
  6. ballin, thank god the pirates are worse fundamentally than we are
  7. i just went over to baseball reference and you know what i was shocked to find out? No team that has started the season 3-4 has EVER made the playoffs. In fact, back in 1898, the Indianapolis Browns lost four out of their first seven games and the entire team died of polio. If we dont win this, we might as well start the countdown for football season. No crap? Did they have trolls back in 1898 too? I don't know. They probably did have short-sighted, overreacting fans, though. "I say, Gaylord, old Tinkers just isn't swinging the lumber early in these baseball contests" "Agreed, Jeremiah! He has the work ethic of one of my granddaddy's slaves!" "Oh, Gaylord, you slay me. This Tinkers fellow doesn't care whether we win or lose! It's quite unfortunate! He probably just wants to mosey over to his shanty and count his thousands!"

  9. Lol, 2 Shaqs wouldn't have gotten to that
  10. (You'll always be UK to me) When a team scouts a high school player, how do they scout his plate discipline? I see a lot of high school baseball, but just about everyone ends up with a high ISOD, and I imagine that based on the talent of the majority of the pitchers these kids face on a day to day basis, the stats get thrown out anyway.
  11. but seriously what about the pleated dockers
  12. did you have your pleated pants on
  13. While I do not agree that Marquis and Dempster are better than Marshall, I agree this is a good problem to have. Some of you guys want to have it both ways. Marshall will be back after one of these guys gets moved, likely Marquis. I like how you say this like it's too much to expect to have rotation depth and have the best players in the rotation.
  14. I agree with you. I don't think people are overestimating him to the extent that you do, but people definitely have tunnel vision on him.
  15. Zambrano: Not mexican
  16. Last year, Jason Kendall, Ryan Therito, Cliff Floyd/Jacque Jones were everyday starters for a contending team. If Soriano, Aram, DLee, Fukudome, Soto and DeRo hit like they are capable of then you can live with a starting CF learning the ropes playing great defense. Theriot on the other hand doesnt bring defense or offense to the table, but the Cubs could still be contenders with both of them in the lineup. However, an upgrade at SS would make things much much easier, while letting the organizations top prospect play defense and provide what offense he can. Pie has shown an uncanny ability to make adjustments at every level hes been on when hes been given a chance to fight thru his struggles, and Im praying the Cubs are patient enough to let him see if he can make the adjustments at this level. You feel better with Rotoworld confirming what I said or do you still think I'm full of it? I never said I didnt believe you, I just found it odd nothing was mentioned yesterday about it. Just sucks for Felix cause hes going to be sitting for probably a week. Based on your comment in the game thread today, I think it's pretty clear you didn't believe me. quit bumping this thread to rub it in his face that you were right.
  17. thanks for batting such a terrible hitter in front of Lee and Tejada, dudes
  18. if only meph was here So I can be banned for not being sold on Ronny Cedeno? if that's what you got out of that exchange, then I question your mental faculties
  19. oops garage party, cram it. you're making a fool of yourself
  20. man, at least get it out of the infield
