Heh, he's probably a first rounder this April. i bet he slips to the second, but i'm always a little pessimistic about our pro prospects. he really doesn't have good hands. at least this year. that was the knock on him as a recruit (that and that he didn't block well). Last year he looked great on both accounts (might have just been better than i expected) but this year he seems to have regressed. maybe he caught the "i'm gonna be a pro, anyway-lazy bug" from malcolm kelly.

i really think that this no huddle offense kills our defense. we either score in 5 plays or go three and out. plus, our defense isnt that good to begin with. we also always have trouble with big, mobile qbs because our coverage breaks down too quick. FUN FACT: ksu and ou are both averaging over 10 yards PER PLAY

I think you may be overstating Wood's (or any player's) affect off the baseball field on the team's performance. What teams did you play for in the majors? "Wade" = Wade Boggs. Or it could be Wade Miller, so the answer could very well be "Not many" actually, it would be "too many"

espn classic is playing the arizona/ku game from 95 (i think) my best back then was from flagstaff so i sort of picked up UofA love from him. Miles Simon, Mike Bibby, Mike Dickerson, they had it all. I forgot how much I loved that team.

Unfortunately, that's what seals it for me with regards to Dawson. If you're tied to 'OPS+' as your underlying stat, then yes, it will probably seal the deal... However, 300+ stolen bases, 8 GG, and 157 career OF assists have NOTHING to do with his OPS+.... Dawson played the first half of his career BEFORE most of those other guys you compare him to (ARod, Bonds, Griffey, etc) even broke into the majors, and also BEFORE the 'Year of the Lively Ball' in 1987 when the offensive boom began... This is coincidentally the same year that Dawson won the MVP on a last place team and won the HR crown... Nobody takes note that he also finished SECOND in MVP voting twice BEFORE that. Dawson did have a defined 'peak' from 1979-1983 before injuries hampered him for 3 seasons before moving to the North Side. Too bad nobody cites stats from THAT era because, well, nobody was putting up big numbers. Since Dawson played so long into the 'Offensive Era', people like to compare him to players in that era, when in fact, by the time Griffey and ARod came along, and guys were hitting 40 and 50 with regularity, Dawson was in his late 30's and hobbled with bad knees... Of course Dawson and Rice are favorable in numbers, they played MORE in the same era. You cannot name too many BETTER OFers from 1976-1987 than Dawson, Rice, Raines, Murphy, etc... You would have to look at guys like Guerrero, Winfield, Parker, Henderson and the guys that Dawson played with in HIS prime... ops+ is just a lazy way to measure how much better he was than his era. the answer is "not much"

I could see that, but I see him averaging more points per game then Christie did in his career (11 ppg). Other then that yeah Thabo should fit into that Bowen/Christie/Posey type player, but only if VDN gives his plenty of run while Hughes is out. Christie could have scored more was he not on a team with a lot of good scorers for the bulk of his prime in Sactown. 20 were going to Weber, 20 to Peja, 18 to Bibby, 15 to Miller, and with Turk of the bench there wasn't a need for him to score a lot. wasn't christie the king of the corner jumper? not that that means anything, just something stupid that i remember
