Now if you want to know whether he has gotten extra base hits or overall been a productive offensively player you would want to use other statistics. will you please just upgrade to pro? jesus.

    I don't want this to turn into another thread where people attack each other and call them stupid or even debate whether or not Harden is pathetic or a great asset to the team. Just post what you actually expected him to do this season after Hendry traded for him in 2008. 47 wins 450 strikeouts 63 saves, more than bobby thigpen ERA below 1.00 No walks. At all.

    if the rest of the team was carrying their weight, this wouldn't be an issue. sure, bradley struggled out of the gate, but so did just about everyone else. If the whole team wasn't so mediocre, Bradley's bad start would have been less noticeable. We would be in a close race for first, and the fans would be all excited about how his bat is heating up. Everyone would be talking about how great his eye is and how amazing it is to have someone that gets on base at the rate he does. instead, the entire team sucked, many have been worse than Bradley himself, but because he has a history and an attitude, he's the scape goat. It's sad, really. If everyone else would have done their part, he'd be a fan-favorite.

    yeah plus aramis got hurt with no reasonable backup to be found, fontenot tanked and soto either sucked or was hurt. that's a lot of bad production from a number of positions and we don't have a monster like pujols to carry the lineup. It was a pretty awful cocktail of obvious things (fontenot, lack of health/depth at corner IF/OF positions) going wrong, and not so obvious things (Harden being healthy-ish but no good for so long, Marmol's wildness, Soriano falling apart, Soto sucking, etc..) going wrong. I'm really ready for this year to be over with.

    I think the point is that you can live with Bradley's production for 10 million a season. It's not optimal, but if he's going to get on base 40% of the time, you can find him a spot. Hell, he's a perfect hitter for the 2-spot. Well, maybe not perfect, but he fits. The problem is that Soriano is such a [expletive] black hole. The combination of passable Milton Bradley and awful Soriano, making a combined 28 million a year, is too much to overcome. And you can't move Soriano, so the only way to improve the OF short of Soriano remembering how to hit/getting healthy is to move Bradley and try to get lucky with an OF that can hit for power.

    Oh! Another scathing retort from IMB. I consider myself pwned. For I now see the error of my ways. I cannot be passionate about the Cubs and ever hope to achieve the maturity of IMB. For his month-long ban a few months ago has made him wiser. Teach me, o great one. Maybe I can harass other posters via IM like you did. Perhaps that'll make me as cool as you. well, you'll never be as cool as me, so you can toss that dream out the window right now. as far as "harassing posters via IM" that's not my style. your first paragraph was spot on, though. Milton Bradley has been pretty much exactly what I expected. Actually he's been on the field more than i thought he would be. I wouldn't shed a tear if the cubs moved him in the offseason, though i think his treatment has been a little unnecessary to this point.

    I don't buy that at all. The media reported the truth about Bradley's history. Maybe we should have listened. They didn't make anything up about him -- he's been a cantankerous jerk everywhere he's been. Did you expect the writers not to question whether he would be a good fit or whether he was worth the headaches? This. There's a reason he's been through so many different teams in his career. Nobody wants to put up with his crap. Except for all of his teammates that loved him. Since ya know, he gives his all and tries to win every game. Just seems odd that you can get all pissy and offended that Milton is complaining about the fans or the umps, oh grow up Milton, stop complaining Milton!! How bout you grow up? How bout you stop complaining about how a guy carries himself? Why does it bother you that he's upset by fans not liking him? Why does it bother you that he gets pissed about a bad strike zone? Why does Milton have to be this virtuous individual and you can go on season over rants around the 2nd week of the season and do nothing but pout about virtually everything? oh my god i love this post so much love it so much my heart skipped a beat
