  1. Basically. 1) There is a limit of 10 minor leaguers 2) We limits to the amount of playing time one can have in the majors in order to be in Roadkill's minors. I will let someone else state that, though it is in the rules. 3) Anyone actually in the major league minor system can be placed in Roadkill's minors. 4) Don't pick up anyone from the June draft. Am I missing anything?
  2. With the third pick, the quakers pick.....Manny Machado - ss - Orioles
  3. Who gets the second pick?
  4. I agree. This method of drafting is not as exiting as the one day affair, but it is certainly more equitable.
  5. All three options on the poll ould be acceptable to me. Most importantly, I want it to be simple and clear. Hard to believe that the draft is this Monday.
  6. Also, we can't draft anyone in the major league draft that still has minor league eligibility? That would be a change in the rules from last year. Someone could have kept a player with minor league eligibility on their major league squad. I think we need to stick to the rules from above. Anyone you select during the major league portion of our draft better be on the major league team on opening day and anyone you select during the minor league phase better be on a minor league team on opening day. But I am sure we will hear other opinions.
  7. I think the way to handle this is as follows. Anyone picked in the major league portion of our draft, has to to on the major league team at the start on the season. If not, the Roadkill team that drafted him loses their rights to him. Anyone picked during the minor league portion of the draft has to be on a minor league squad at the start of the season. If not the Roadkill team who selected him loses the rights to him. It would be possible for one team to select a player in the major league phase and another team to select the same player in the minor league phase and which team got him would be determined by which level he starts the season at. The commish would have to rule on any player on an injured reserve list, etc... I like the idea of keeping the rule of those players not selected in either phase of the draft becomes a free agent. Where I have some concerns is where the rules have changed since last year. Players who are selected in this year's draft and then made it to the majors were available to be picked up. At least that is my memory. Also with the players that are not currently on CBS's data base. Will we easily be able to determine when a player was entered into the data base? We need to keep things simple.
  8. Having said what I said, I would hate to see anyone go.
  9. Yeah, that's fine. Actually, you get the most leniency since you are late to the party. Everyone else is well versed on when fees are due and have been reminded a few times since I forked out the cash to renew the league. What kinds of penalties should be assessed to managers who don't submit their fees by the start of the draft? Give me their first round picks. :) I think any forfeited picks should go to owners who have not won a championship and have been in the league the longest. Seriously, I hope we are not talking about too many owners. There comes a point where if they do not pay, then they do not play.
  10. +1 As a math teacher I find myself perplexed. +1 meaning....? Shorthand for "I agree." I should have known. :? I guess I have been grading too many papers of late. Thanks for the clarification.
  11. I am flexible with the timing of the draft, especially since we will be doing it via the internet. My biggest suggestion would be to limit the major league draft to 10 rounds. But I can live with 12.
  12. +1 As a math teacher I find myself perplexed. +1 meaning....?
  13. Warning. I thought I had marked my keepers, but because I didn't "SET MY LINE-UP" it didn't save my choices for keepers. I would hate have someone think that they have selected their keepers only to find on Valentine's Day that their team is missing.
  14. Quakers trade Jurrjens to Tootielicious for their 5th round pick in this year's draft.
  15. Welcome to Roadkill.

    What he said.
  17. The pendulum has really swung as to how much the early round picks are being valued in the league. It's really hard to pry those first and second rounders away from people, even for the stars in the game. I agree. When Juan reduced the keeper point total then the value of draft picks went up. smart guy that juan Modest too ;)
  18. I am getting spring fever. Spring training approacheth :yahoo: Ok . as we start nearing the deadline...I am almost ready. Here is what will most likely be my keepers. C-Mauer-431.8 1b-Votto-608.8 2b- ss-Pennington-exempt 3b- OF-Stubbs-exempt OF-McCutcheon-exempt OF-Maybin-exempt SP-Blackburn-exempt SP-Hudson-exempt SP-Billingsey-484.5 SP-E.Jackson-439.0 SP- RP- RP- Total points - 1964.1 That means Bautista (655) is available. He is dual eligible (3b/OF). That means that Jurrjens is available. Due to injuries he has only 202.5 pts. That means Papelbon (273.5) and Broxton (212.5) are also available. Talk to me if your are interested. EDIT: Jurrjens has ben traded, and the others released. So my keepers are as listed above.
  19. Obviously it hurts, but how much?

  21. Whatever we decide on, lets keep it simple. We have to be able to remember it 3-4 years from now.
  22. I will be interesting to see who Tim keeps.
  23. This is a sad thread :? I have been picking up minor leaguers after the play-offs have started for years. It gave me something to do. Most of the time it amounted to nothing, but I did net Jurrjens one year. This was done with Juan's knowledge. As per usual, I asked him on a post and he OK'd it. But I never added/dropped anyone that may have given an advantage to any play-off team. I do agree with Adam in that play-off teams should not have an advantage over non-play-off teams. But dropping players picked up during the play-offs at season's end seems to solve that concern. I also think that Brian needs to be cut some slack. He was asked to replace Juan mid-season and has done a good job all-in-all. Of course some of his decisions differ from what Juan would decide, so what. I would ask everyone to remember that this is just a fantasy game that a few baseball fanatics play to amuse themselves. We pay $10 or so for CBS to set it up for us. That is all it is. Have fun. I have over the years, despite just one play-off appearance. Adam, while I agree with much of what you have posted in this thread, I think back on how it used to be with you. When you were first in this league, you were nowhere near as "offensive" as you are now. I asked you about it at one time and you said that you decided to be more open and express yourself. IMHO you have that right, but I miss the old Adam. Sometimes your posts make me think of someone who has roadrage. If you want to express yourself as you have over the past few years, then I think you have to expect that you are going to piss a few people off. And it appears you have. Personnally I am all for the right of free speech and I respect your talent in managing a fantasy team (your record speaks for itself), but as I said I miss the old Adam. As for Brian's decision to renege my add/drop, I can live with that. I wish I had known about the rule earlier, but hey its just fantasy baseball. Who knows, maybe Martinez will not turn out to be a dud and Brian saved me from losing a future all-star:)
  24. Will the order snake as per usual? How many rounds? Will we be able to pick up minor leaguers during the season as free agents as long as they were not selected in the 2011 mlb draft?
  25. Thanks from me too.
