I (tonight) had to argue vehemently with two or three people that 1) Caleb Hanie should in fact NOT be our starting QB in 2011, 2) We should NOT draft a QB with our first pick because we "can't count on Cutler anymore". These are people that religiously watch every game from beginning to end, and they apparently honestly believe Hanie > Cutler. You reach a point where you wonder if the stupidity and ignorance of the argument justifies your effort and time any more. Idiots. I actually heard "I liked Caleb Hanie's post game interview, it showed he is a better leader and therefore better QB than Jay Cutler who can't even talk to people."

I'm honestly surprised like 95% of the people in this thread are on the same side of the fence. Maybe all the meatballs just called into the radio instead, because that's all I've heard on there for 48 hours straight. The more I think about this, the more I don't blame Cutler. I blame him for his shitty first half, but blaming him for being taken out? Come on now.

I will admit I'd like to have seen Cutler at least trying to motivate his teammates. Even Mark [expletive] Sanchez does that. But every time I think or say something like that, I remember people like Moses Moreno and Shane Matthews and I feel stupid.

I've become so disillusioned with the Chicago media over the last few years, and this doesn't help anything. They're sensationalists and generally overly negative, biased, and far from objective. It's like they all have an ax to grind to make themselves stand out better. It's not just the media either, I've come to look at the average Chicago sports fan as a meatball. They're becoming aggressively opinionated just like their favorite talking heads on TV. Everyone has a [expletive] opinion. Why can't the media, and THIS CITY stop being such hacks? Why can't we [expletive] DEFEND our own? We can go on and on about Cutler but someone needs to explain to me why if Cutler didn't quit after the Dallas game, and 20 other various times before the bye week, he'd quit in the [expletive] NFC Championship Game. DOES NOT COMPUTE.

I don't know about a golden era, but recent times have certainly brought us a level of respectability.
