  1. I disagree with this so so so so so much. Refuse to embrace it. I'm just saying if there's ONE team in sports that needs to tone down celebrations, even for minor things like Soriano watching home runs, it's us. We're the singular team in all of sports that needs that assassin mentality. After D Rose lost to the Heat I read he holed himself up in his house for two weeks and wouldn't speak to anyone - just ordered pizza's and watched DVD's. Call me weird, call me insane, I probably am. But my insane point remains - I just want more focus, more intensity. Less merchandising less cheesy songs less day games, etc. It's not the best analogy but who comes to mind if the question is asked, "who or whom is most like that on the Cubs"? Anyone? I realize emotions don't win ball games, and I don't want to get into a sabr argument here, I just want a sea change in the entire attitude of this team, and for some reason that song just grinds my gears beyond belief. It sums up a lot of issues to me. I want to WIN.
  2. Whatever dude, imagine if you're like a reds fan or something and it's your first time to Wrigley, and you're listening to a team 20 games under .500 sing about being the best in the league. Nice first impression of our fan base. I could go on and on about this, I'm sick and [expletive] tired of being this lol fanbase that we're perceived as. The casual fan thinks the usual Cub fan is a beer drinking idiot, Im sick of it. I want to be the caged [expletive] animal that takes everything seriously and just mauls teams and fans. [expletive] that stupid song. I want to be in first place talking about pillaging and scorched earth theories.
  3. I loathe it. I hated it when we were good, I hate it now. There was never a single point where I liked it. When we were good it came off as arrogant and borderline ignorant. And then now, when we're sad-bad, the "...to be the best in the national league" part just kills me. Someone end this.
  4. [expletive] quade, this enrages me.
  5. rodrigo lopez just markedly out pitched roy halladay. I understand nothing about baseball.
  6. One thing I'll always defend Hendry on is the Soriano contract. The Trib knew they'd be selling the team and wanted to raise its value before doing so. They literally told Hendry "here's some money, go spend it", and who else was really even out there besides Soriano? Of course it was a stupid deal, and who knows if Hendry himself even thought it was a good idea, but the fact is that he was commanded to spend some money so he simply did it, and now HE is taking the blame for the upper managements idiocy.
  7. what is the issue here? am I missing something?
  8. at the least he has to have a tweak somewhere, his velocity is down and it's beyond obvious his slider doesn't currently have movement. there's also not as much of a velocity changes between his pitches.
  9. I don't care, I'm psyched for it.
  10. barney's baseball IQ/confidence is off the charts, you can tell he's coming into every AB with a plan
  11. He's 24 and immature, what a shocker. I'll take him. edit: only if he shaves that ugly mustache though
  12. Oh I agree, I'm just saying there's plenty of examples of players that would benefit their game by learning how to lay down a damn bunt when asked to.
  13. Gorz was/is pretty decent, but besides that, hard to fault Hendry for anything when you take the injuries into account. This is also a good a time as any to say again that I [expletive] hate randy [expletive] wells that [expletive] [expletive] [expletive] [expletive].
  14. what is wrong with his eye
  15. isringhausen still plays? what?
  16. James Russell accepts your challenge. I had forgotten about the Russell starting experiment until now, thanks.
  17. Eh, I just want to trade Marmol since it'd be the first time in Cubs history we traded a player near his peak value. I think our future closer is already on the team anyway (Carpenter).
  18. wambach is a beast
  19. wow, thats one aesthetic park
  20. well its impossible to suck more than wells at this point so yea
  21. I feel like people are just being overly negative at this point... there's no perfect manager out there. I'd rather have Brenly than Sandberg, and I don't even have to think about that one. FWIW bunting is a part of baseball, it's contextual, you can't be anti or pro bunting. I mean ffs casey stengel would bunt in the first inning to get the early lead, while now a days some players literally do not know how to bunt. Like most things in life, the best way is probably somewhere in the middle.
  22. best part is the flood of grabow bashing texts I got when he had assumed victory
  23. what is the correct number of texts to send to my giants-fan friend that was at the game today
