  1. I hadn't thought about that. Let the O's worry about that, Tim! LOL! How many openings to the O's have? If it was good enough talent wouldn't the O's just remove someone from the 40 man? I'm just thinking out loud.
  2. Note above: Gallagher (See above) I know he's not left handed. I meant he could be plugged in to the rotation.
  3. Is Roberts really the player that Hendry should be spending time pursuing right now? Seriously, the Cubs don't need a 2B with DeRo already on board. I don't mind them upgrading if it were the only position that they thought then could improve on. The Cubs should be talking to the O's about Bedard and Tejada. I realize that Bruce said the money was an issue, but I don't see how it can be IF the reports about what Matsui was offered is true. Obviously, the pot would have to be sweetened for Bedard but at least it's improving positions that need to be improved. (Most notably SS) I'd certainly take an offseason of Fukudome, Bedard, and Tejada. Here's what I would offer: Dempster (Chris Ray's out, Demp could close or start for them and he's relatively cheap) Eyre (Give them a "quality" ML Loogy) Marshall (Young lefty arm that can immediately fill a rotation spot) Gallagher (See above) Theriot (Gives a replacement at SS. I don't really know what his value is to other teams) Colvin (They'd probably ask for Pie, but you give up Colvin) Fuld (He's supposedly "untouchable" which I believe is Hendry's way of trying to fluff his value. He's a quality guy, but I don't think he'll be an everyday OF.) That's 7 for 2. While it doesn't have the "can't miss" prospect of Maybin/Miller in the Detroit deal, it gives immediate help to the O's rotation and bullpen. Colvin would be the toolsy prospect that projects well. (Depending on the scout) Fuld could also immediately help off the bench. Am I crazy? Probably!
  4. Assuming Zook stays at Illinois................. He's going to be a legend in Illinois! I can't remember the last time I was this excited about Illinois football! Keep it up, Zooker!

  6. Milton Bradley always reminds me of Rondella White. Hitting wise and Injury wise.
  7. I heard that as well. Pretty comical conversations taking place with WS fans. Someone from the Sun Times FINALLY came on and said the WS had 0 chance to come close to the offer from Detriot and even went on to say that they couldn't match the next best offer from the Angels. And they should be thanking their lucky stars that KW didn't get Hunter for the 15 million/per that was reportedly offered by the White Sox. Talk about Soriano's contract looking bad the last few years, Hunter's would have looked worse! Instead, they're all upset that Hunter was suppose to be delivered w/ Christmas wrapping! Classic!
  8. Not yet. I'll find out by 5:30 when we meet with Jim. I've put in calls about the White Sox on this matter, too. The Tigers gave them a little ouchie yesterday. White Sox fans are grilling KW up on 670 The Score and have been all day. It's been pretty entertaining.
  9. :pig: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That's the funniest thing I've read in awhile. That's as good as Hendry liking Murton, but Murton's not left handed!!! Priceless!
  10. I don't know about that. I don't think they have anyone as good as Maybin or Miller, but the catcher isn't that great and none of the other 3 arms are top of the rotation guys. If you meant that the Cubs couldn't come up w/ 6 equal prospects (as a group) I'd probably agree with you. Maybin and Miller put this deal over the top, obviously. BTW, this deal does suprise me. I was part of the group that thought Florida could get more dealing these guys seperately and this deal seems to prove that. Arguably, the Marlins could have asked for Maybin and Miller for just Cabrera. The other 4 guys are kind of Meh...

  12. The tirade on the Kansas coach is hilarious!
  13. It's $135 plus fees. I'm not sure how much the Ticketmaster fees are. The cheapest I've found is StubHub and they have a few tickets at $398. Sideline tickets are going for $700 - $1000 per. Wow, that's a lot of money. What did they go for originally? $135

  15. No, no ... this makes too much sense. I understand the desire to cut the cord, but I think it will be a mistake when the Cubs trade him. Any animosity can be soothed over, but some smarter GM (and there are, oh, several out there) will make Hendry an offer he thinks is good enough and Prior's gone. I don't want to make this about Prior so I'll just cut it out after this. The Cubs are making some deals to cut down the payroll but it's ok to have a guy on the payroll that isn't going to pitch because he had potential. I think too many here are just too attached to this guy to make a unemotional decision. Again, I like Prior but I think it would be a good BUSINESS move to trade him. You all seem to think it's better to pay him to recoup and hope he returns to pitch like he did, I simply think he never will. How is that hate? I said the same thing about Miller too, I must have hated him as well. I was on the same page with you on Miller. He never was close to the same player Prior has been, or could be again. I don't look at the situation as just money this year. I look at it as the Cubs already have an investment and should try to get a return on that investment. I don't think their return will be enough through a trade, but I could be wrong.
  16. Cameron Maybin and Andrew Miller would probably have to be involved with a trade rumor like that. Whoa. That would be a start. I'd be interested to see how the Tigers could get both guys. What a package that must be.
  17. Rose Bowl tickets sold out in less then a minute!!!!!!!!!!!! They're telling me that they "may" release more later. You can only buy 2 at a time and 4 per household. I guess I'll keep checking in with Ticketmaster because I'm not paying $400+ per ticket when they're $135 face value.
  18. I expect him to build a power. Not that I'll pull a Florida and ask for his head if he goes 7-4 next year, but I think he's already heading in the right direction. Just keep recruiting well and it will all fall in place. i think zook calls the defensive plays, but he has nothing to do with the offense--that's locksley all the way, and i don't think anyone would call locksley a bad coach. he'll get a head job somewhere soon, which is why i wouldn't be upset if zook left--it would just mean that we'd keep locksley for a lot longer. I don't think Zook is going anywhere anytime soon. I could see Locksley getting a head job somewhere and it would hurt to lose him, but I'd like to keep Zook and his recruiting skills around. If he can keep pulling kids from Florida, DC area, and Chicago. Illinois will be in good shape.
  19. I don't know about that one. It would be a close game.

  22. How does Hank Steinbrenner have the gumption to state a deadline for negotiations? Didn't we all learn our lesson that he's full of poo when he reopened negotiations with ARod. It wouldn't be any different with Santana. Please...................................
