  1. 23 walks in 35 2/3 innings,6 in his last 4 games
  2. Wow,that pitch to Braun was belt high over the heart of the plate !
  3. You know it does. Rookies can't make errors. I thought Dusty was the one who hates rookies.
  4. Fox made an error and Piniella moved off of the bench. Hope that doesn't mean Fontenot at third tomorrow.
  5. At this point its gone beyond a slump. It might just be a super long confidence draining slump that might take an offseason of recovery to get over. He might snap out of it tomorrow. Who knows. I don't think it's eroding skills though unless he's 3+ years older than he says he is. Playing hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrt. Idk, hes not even limping like he was earlier. Not saying that means hes not, but it was alot more obvious earlier. lol Z Playing hurt? The same Soriano who said last week that Bradley shouldn't be playing unless he's 100%?
  6. Because they've already invested $18 million a year for the next 5 seasons on a left fielder. Lou Piniella had several possible lineup combinations scribbled on paper all over his desk Friday. In the end, he put Alfonso Soriano back in the leadoff spot vs. the Brewers despite rookie Sam Fuld's back to back two-hit games batting first. "Yeah, I thought about it all night," Piniella said. "We need for Alfonso to start swinging the bat. I have all the confidence in the world with him. He's back out there in the leadoff spot and hopefully he gives us a spark." Soriano, who was batting .179 in his last 35 games, could've been dropped in the order. Piniella did consider that option. "He hasn't played for a couple days," Piniella said of Soriano, who has been working with hitting coach Von Joshua. "Let's put him in the spot he's familiar with and let's see if we can get him hot. ... Today's he's in the leadoff spot and in left field where he's familiar. Let's hope he swings the bat -- we want him to swing the bat."
  7. Seriously, its pretty hard times, although Pitt's unemployment is only about 7%. The team hasn't won in forever. Good job by Len saying their attendance is up I don't care what the unemployment rate is, standard of living, metro area, population, average income, etc. When you consistently put out the type of product that the Pirates do every year you just are going to draw fans. Every year they keep bringing in new talent! I'd buy a ticket just to see Craig Monroe. Too bad he got DFA'd Eric Hinske is there

  9. If hes the answer, whats the question?
  10. They finally found Miles a place in the organization where he could help the team the most.
  11. If Bradley had men on base more and walked less,he would most likely have more rbi also. But 16 rbi at this point is pretty hard to defend.
  12. Hendrys done some good things but his biggest mistake is the Soriano contract. It started to show last offseason and will continue for many years.
  13. Who was it that called Soriano an above average left fielder ?
  14. Hawk's a [expletive] White Sox idiot homer; would you expect any less? No,thats why I'm watching CSN. I like listening to Hawk whine.
  15. Hawk called Z bush, then on the pickoffs said he was trying to hit him again
  16. Why is he even playing? The guy is HORRIBLE Because of his contract and the need to get him swinging the bat like he has his whole career. But,its pretty clear that he is not seeing the ball well and is pressing. Hes expanded his strike zone and is missing very hittable pitches. Playing him everyday and batting him third is just burying him deeper.
  17. Its suprising DeRosa didn't cost the Indians and Cardinals much. But,that should not be used as an indicator of his value to the team. 3 mid level prospects, Chris Perez, or Mark DeRosa, what would you rather have? Its baffling that a team that has a supposed goal of winning the world series had to let go of their closer, second baseman, and a starter to sign a right fielder that averages 100 games a year and to retain a starter coming off a career year.
  18. How many guys have been playing their best position this year anyway, maybe half?
  19. Ascanio walks the .219 hitter to let the .190 hitter beat them But Lou did go with the righty vs. righty %
  20. Most LFs don't get to that. That's why he's an average-above average LF. nice try, still not buying that Do you think most LFs get to that ball? about half, dunno really its one play,it was a nice play but hardly a web gem
