  1. From everything I've read he will be sent down regardless of what he does this Spring because the team wants a lefthanded bat (even though he's out slugging Todd Hollandsworth). I seem to remember him out performing Hollandsworth before and not getting that much of a chance.
  2. Thats the risk when you pay for potential as opposed for what a player has actually done.
  3. none, unless we can find another rehabbing pitcher without a team yet.
  4. It would really hurt watching Williams sit while Dusty plays Grissom.
  5. But what about the bottom line and the budget?Cut the profits by 15 mil to win?Yeah right. What next, lower ticket prices,?
  6. I don't know if hes right or wrong but he feels just about all pitchers mechanics are wrong. His philosophy is vastly different from what is currently being taught and feels that he is being blackballed from everyone.Do a search for his website for more insight.
  7. I echo these sentiments. Priors protecting himself.I seem to recall rumors that Priors dad was unhappy the way he was handled(abused) early on with the Cubs.I can't recall the rest.I don't know if that was just something that was thrown out there by people to create speculation that Prior was unhappy in Chicago or it was valid.
  8. They feel that Rothschild is one of the top 5 pitching coaches in the game. They invest 100 mil in payroll, yet they don't seem to do enough to protect their investment.Dustys abuse,Rothschilds cluelessness etc.
  9. Maybe next spring they'll start him out with a lighter towel.
  10. You don't feel the slightest twinge of regret that, Lee and Barrett coming back or not, Team USA just lost? To Team Mexico, no less? And I thought losing to Canada was embarrasing.
  11. Why is Damon running for ARod and not Chipper?
  12. Hes gonna go talk to Bob Davison about getting us a couple of runs.
  13. 1 run 3 hits and an 8 pitch inning,seems like it.
  14. the run scored anyway. dead issue. The point is 4 guys should not miss it.
  15. They just had the umps explanation. He thought it hit off the wall. The others didn't see it.They didn't see any paint on the ball.Although like the announcers said,I didn't see them look at the ball either.
  16. no command. sounds like perez. He pitched 3 shutout innings though.
  17. I don't quite understand that? Howe would that work? Would Japan then go? if the US wins, we go. if mexico wins, japan goes. unless mexico wins 1-0. Good grief. Then what? Heres the link with the scenarios. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/worldclassic2006/columns/story?columnist=neel_eric&id=2370525
  18. This is gotta be the dumbest system available.
  19. Bob Davison is doing more for us in this tournament than just about any player.
  20. We know what they do when they want guys out. Apparently, they still haven't learned from Patterson and Sosa. I really don't understand the concept of destroying a guys value to the point he is worthless in trade. Unlike Sosa and Patterson, the Cubs tried to trade Walker before mentioning anything negative about him (and they got no takers). I think the Cubs inability to trade Walker has been predicated on his own reputation as a subpar defender. As it stands, the only team (Baltimore) that's rumored to be interested in him would prefer to use him as a DH. Then it stands to reason, IMO, that you don't trade a guy who currently has little to no trade value. You sit him down and work it out. He's still way better coming off the bench with his bat than he is playing for some other team. If he stays healthy and performs, his trade value would definately be higher at the deadline. But,he has said he will not be happy not starting and then being asked to later.
  21. Because the Cubs are willing to trade him.
  22. It seems to me that the Cubs are making a point to talk about Walkers knee.He came back from his injury in May.The injury at the end of last tear was diagnosed as a bruise. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050923&content_id=1220907&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Is this their way to get the fans support in moving him?A smear campaign?
  23. No, not a first ballot.Power stats in the 90's are inflated.500 hr's cannot be the bar for players from that era.
  24. That just shows how few prospects actually pan out.Look at all the prospects the Sox have traded. How many have panned out?The Yankees have done it through the years.Successful teams seem to know who to trade and who to keep. The only one we traded recently thats had success is Dontrelle. When he was traded he probably wasn't a top 10.
