  1. Obviously I have a different viewpoint here, but this is a level playing field. Everyone has equal access to the db. The rules have been the same for a long time now -- finder's keepers. I would bet that I'm as busy in my non-fantasy-baseball life as anyone in the league. But I find a few secs each day to hop on the site, check the scores and run through my list of players I want added to the db. I've been checking for Snider (or Snyder), Joba, McGee & others about every day for the better part of the season. When I saw there were a bunch of new players added over the ASB, I checked to see who else may have been put into the db. Each and every person in the league has that same ability to make that time and do that searching. Heck, with waivers you only have to check the database the night before waivers run to find all new players in the db - once or twice a week. The process itself is perfectly fair, though the results in this case may seem skewed. That said, if people want to change the rules, I'm perfectly willing to go along. I disagree. I was out of town on business when this took place. Many people go on vacation during the summer. A new crop of players being added needs some sort of announcement and all teams given an equal shot at these players. I've always been in favor of a minor league draft, but oh well.
  2. Add that to Lee, Floyd, and Dempster http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/baseball/marlins/sfl-mikeb10jun10,0,148706.column This maybe why they are in favor of Cuban. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/players/04/25/inside.stuff0502/ I think they needed Cuban when Sammy was here. He's a little too behind the times for me ;-)
  3. Please be any kind of news of any relavance, leading to the conclussion of something.
  4. I actually think winning it all it hurt the value compared to making it to the playoffs or going deep. Thats part of the mystic, and everyone making bids on the franchise wants to be "that guy" who took the Cubs to the World Series and won it. They will be forever loved in Chicago.
  5. Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) and Kaka (AC Milan) are 1-2. There's a big gap after them. After that, you could order 3-5 like this: Thierry Henry (Barcelona) Ronaldinho (Barcelona) Leo Messi (Barcelona) All three on the same team. There are big gaps in talent between a player like Ronaldinho and a player like Steven Gerrard, who might be top 10, but nowhere near the top 5. You've got great goal scorers like Didier Drogba and Wayne Rooney, who probably aren't in the top 10. Ditto Robinho. You have defenders like Fabio Cannavaro and goalkeepers like Gianluigi Buffon, who are great at their position but couldn't be considered top 20. If you're only talking about field players, there isn't an American in the top 100, and I'd strain to put one in the top 200. Tim Howard is probably a top 50 keeper. Wow, I had e-mailed a friend in London asking the same question. He gave me the exact 5 that you did, in no particular order. Yeah, really those 5 are pretty much head and shoulders above anyone else. It's the list I would've given. Also, I don't have FSC, Goltv or ESPNU. I watched the first US game in the Gold Cup, but haven't seen any Copa America or U-20 World Cup games. go find a torrent of the US-Brazil U-20 game. Probably the best game a US side has played in 5 years. The Poland game wasn't bad either :-). Can't wait for tomorrow's game. Nothing better than going to a bar at 1 to start drinking and watch some real football.
  6. Sadly vs. the Yankees at that.
  7. I have both channels and watch both regularly. From what I remember, you're more a fan of the English game, so I would definitely recommend FSC. Its EPL heavy with the majority of the their saturday/sunday games being from England, they carry FA games, have a Sky Sports News which is a great example of how sports show be covered (ahem...espn.) GOLTV has La Liga, Bundelisa, and South/Central American football. They had Serie A from Italy but FSC is covering it exclusively starting in August. For me if I had to choose, it would definitely be FSC, because I'm a huge Chelsea fan and enjoy coverage of the English game. All depends on your taste in football. I remember a couple of years ago seeing the previews for one of the sky sports digital channel's that would allow you to choose what camara angle you got watch the game in. View highlights while the game was going on. Check Stats. Watch camara's that were dedicated just to certain players, ect. It was an amazing thought at the time. Does anyone know if this is still around, or how its going. Of course being the US won't help to answer these questions.
  8. I still fail to see how it would be bad from MLB's point of view.
  9. I have not seen much of GOL TV, but I have liked what I have seen including a lot of older games. Fox Soccer Channel shows about 20 different games over the course of two weeks. There is a lot of repetitiveness with Fox, but they have the EPL so that pushes me over the top with them.
  10. http://www.fifa.com/newscentre/videos/player.html#ch=u20&id=550452 Fifa highlights are up, but very slow for me. Tons of buffering. Waiting for youtube to pop up. Austria looks to have an imposing defense, so hopefully this was a wakeup call. The US played sloppy vs. Korea and responded very well. I hope for the same response ;-).
  11. Mexico never had class to begin with
  12. Don't need any red cards headed into the next round.
  13. 5 cards issued now to the US, something I don't like going deep into the knockout stages.
  14. Damn that was quick :-)
  15. Argentina go up on Mexico following horrible defense and goalkeeping that would be unacceptable in highschool.
  16. Do you keep meaning to say Uruguay?
  17. Stupid espnU, move the game to espn and stop showing allstar game reruns from two days ago.
  18. Hopefully an Argentinian will kick him in the balls.
  19. Its what they do to keep up with Brazil and Argentina. With the way the USA has played in group play I am not suprised to see them come out like that.
  20. I'm only getting to watch the match cast. Whats going on with the Subs the US is making. Altidore and Zizzo both coming out very early in the 2nd half.
  21. I would give a great deal to get Krod
