  1. I mentioned this around 4 months ago. I think I heard that he was looking fot a 1 year deal worth around 13 million (what he got this season). Based on his love for baseball history I think he would really consider the Cubs based on the thought that he could be known as the guy to break the curse in both Boston and Chicago. I am 100% for it assuming it doesn't mess with money to aquire a bat.
  2. Unless they are going to move Johnson to center, escobar to 2b and play ARod at short OR move Chipper back to the OF again, it ain't happening. Both of those scenarios seem very unlikely to happen. They have options and young talent. They also are pretty creative when it comes to deals so this quick deal makes me wonder why they made this trade so early, unless they are going young I can't think of a reason why they would sell Renteria so quickly. Renteria could be on Mitchells list I suppose and this was a chance to sell high. Yeah but the with the Mets in the division it will be tough. Its not like they will ever choke away a divsion, oh wait...
  3. I could see that one coming from a mile away. Mark this one down: everyone's freaking out about how the South Africa WC will be a nightmare in terms of logistics and crime, but the real nightmare will be Brazil 2014 if something drastic doesn't happen in that country in terms of footballing infrastructure and power, as well as general infrastructure in the country itself. A couple of months ago Blatter did say if Brazil doesn't get things together they could easily lose the WC even after announcement of winning the bid. The US is considered one of the options of a contingency plan to move the 2014 WC should that happen. I would expect the US to be one of the top 2-3 front runners for 2018 with England when that time comes.
  4. I think Baltimore wants bats, but if they would accept that deal I am 100% on board.
  5. You honestly think they wouldn't want Marshall or Hill (especially the latter) as part of a deal for Bedard? How exactly would you obtain him? not only would they likely require Hill and/or Marshall, why on earth would you have Lilly as your hypothetical #2? You do realize that Bedard performed better than Lilly, in the AL East, right? I wasn't ranking, but I do have a small fear about Bedard's health. They can have Marshall, Pie, and EPatt.
  6. hahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahaha yankeessuck hahaha hahahahahahahahaha hahahahaha
  7. I love Bedard enough to where I would look past Tejada and move towards him. They will want Pie unless they simply don't ever want another CF from the Cubs. Zambrano Lilly Bedard Hill would be flatout exciting. You could move Marshall and pretty much every other pitching prospect towards Atlanta for Renteria after that. Imagine if a healthy Prior actually came back with that rotation.
  8. Awesome for Adu. He needs to play in atmosphere's like this.
  9. while those highlights are fantastic, slavia prague looks like the little sisters of the poor. the third goal allowed was horrendous. So was the second. But still. As I've said before. Arsenal are so good they are illegal. But the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th were are brilliant and it could have easily been 9-0. I'm just amazed at how it seems no one ever touches the ball more than twice. English football is not supposed to be this beautiful. The first goal by Fabregas was a thing of beauty. Spart Prague went from a -1 to a -8 GD.
  10. Arsenal is unreal. As much as I loved the team that did not lose a Premier League game a couple of years ago, this team looks so much better. The way they run and finish is amazing, once they peak in several years they could be unstoppable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pljf32Ggup0
  11. Biggest need is an owner, and ASAP.
  12. He should have said with Torre he will take 3-40, without Torre he will take 3-55 :-).
  13. I didn't see anything in there about increasing OBP, so until then, he's got a ways to go. He's had a lot of quotes over the last year where he mentions about how he wants to increase the teams OBP, in addition to the fact that when he sent Pie down he was quoted as the one thing he wanted Pie to work on was plate discipline. It may not have come into fruition on the roster yet (which ultimately is what matters if Hendry wants to keep his job) but Hendry's quotes from the first of the year on to that subject have been dramatically different from previous years. I do agree that this article was very nice for him. For example, he was asked the question about situational hitting where it would have been very easy to simply agree with the question but instead he made sure to disagree with it. He showed faith in some of his young players like Hill and Soto, and everything in the article indicated that he's taking the whole season as more important than the small 3 game playoff sample. All of those were criticisms of Hendry in the past both in his actions and his words (making too many decisions because of small samples, no faith in young players, focusing on the wrong things) and it's nice to see that his words have changed. Hopefully he'll show this offseason that his actions have continued to change as well. It was a nice article, but I am amazed by posters who dislike Hendry making a big deal about what he didn't say. He didn't say Pie would start in CF, he didn't say tha Soto was absolutely the starter for 2008, he didn't say anything about improving the OBP, etc. It seems to me that Soto and Pie playing regularly is a decision that the manager makes and not the GM. As for the OBP, it might improve with an off season acquisition or possibly with additional coaching by Gerald Perry. I really don't think Hendry needs to name Soto the starter right now. I think it is pretty much assumed, and I think this offseason will show that Soto intends to be the starter.
  14. Vandy beating South Carolina right now 17-3 in the 2nd. I think we could have a 16 team tournament this season and no one would have any clue to who would win the National Championship.
  15. Texas losing 7-3 to Baylor, Oklahoma losing 7-0 to Iowa State. Man the Big 12 sucks this year.
  16. Wow, Michael Parkhurst scores from midfield for New England in a great play. If it wasn't for HDnet I would not even be watching the game, thank you Mark Cuban.
  17. Just stay away from anyone with the last name of Jones. We don't need Todd here either.
  18. Hopefully Arod, Posada, and Rivera give management the finger on the way to free agency.
  19. Good for Joe, he deserved better than what he got. Even if it was a decent offer, at 1 year he should throw it back in their face and say no. Hopefully this results in more players to leave.
  20. Van Persie out for a month with a knee injury. This is gonna hurt Arsenal as he has really been playing well for the past couple of weeks. Drogba sounds all but gone from Chelsea. Wants to go to AC, Inter, Braca, or Real. Guess he wants another payday.
  21. what the hell is with the telephone dialing sound that randomly appears on fox soccer channel? Its been that way for a long time too.
  22. FSC out here shows it being replayed in 25 minutes. sweet, thank you.
  23. Havent seen the game yet as my DVR decided not to record it, although it was probably my fault. I'm worried about Gooch making a Clint Mathis like fall from potential stardom. Glad to see Sztella played well, knew he fit in with his aggresiveness however was worried about his quality. Did Zizzo not play at all?
  24. Are those all Nike schools?
  25. Vince Young says hello. For proof: 2005 NC game vs USC: 30-40, 267 yards, 19 car. for 200 yards and 3 TD's. 2004 Rose Bowl vs. Mich: 16-28, 180 yards, 21 car. for 192 yards and 5 total TD's. I don't want to say that he single handedly won the National Championship, but it was pretty damn close and not just the USC game. Easily the most dominating player of my lifetime.
