  1. Wisconsin beat the mighty Savannah St. yesterday. Despite the competition, Wisconsin has surprised me so far. I tought their scoring and guard play could be worriesome with the loss of Kam Taylor and Tucker. But so far, Trevon Hughes has really stepped up and looks to be one of the primary scorers. If he continues his early success, I could see the Badger team really surprising in the Big Ten.
  2. They're playing without their 4-year starting QB and their heisman-candidate RB. They also are playing with a rookie QB who doesn't have a clue. Not many teams would be very good under these circumstances. Ugh-injuries are part of the game! Badgers are playing through even more injuries. The Wolverines D is the problem, not their offense.
  3. Pretty tough to play well when you're missing your starting QB and your heisman-candidate running back. The defense needs to show up though. They are playing like crap. Playing through injuries is always rough, and ask Wisconsin that too. They're missing their starting RB, starting WR, starting CB, starting DT and numerous guys on the OL are really banged up.
  4. 20-7 Badgers! Great to see the Badgers play so well. Its also great to see Michigan play so poorly.
  5. Wow - Wisconsin really got hosed on that call.
  6. Yikes, risky play call by the Badgers. Coach B goes for a fake punt around the Wisc 20 and it fails. OSU subsequently goes out and scores to go up 14. There is a lot of time left so I don't really understand that call. Granted a previous fake punt worked, but not sure if it was needed at that time. At least the Badgers have put up a decent fight without PJ Hill and Lance Smith.
  7. Wisconsin - OSU now 10-10. Shaping up to be a good game.
  8. I hate the Big Ten Network for existing. The ESPN Game Plan and Full Court worked quite well. Even if Comcast ever agrees to terms with BTN, I'd still miss out on many Wisconsin games. It sounds like cable companies only have one BTN channel, which means conflicting local games (e.g., Illinois, Northwestern, etc.) would be shown. I heard Direct TV has spill over channels, so they'd show all the games. Horrible planning on the BTN part. I only wish Direct TV was an option for me.
  9. I'm actually pretty psyched to watch the Badgers this year. They'll struggle a bit without Flowers, but I like the development experience for Hughes and Bohannon. Also it will provide some nice opportunities for Jarmusz and Leuer.
  10. I can see that, Michigan St. is ahead of the pack with leadership and talent. Illinois, Wisconsin and OSU are unknown commodities this year. I do think the Big Ten is wide open, but Michigan St. surely will be near the top of the pack.
  11. Come now, he's way better than David Eckstein in their respective sports. Eckstein would be that guard that doesn't score a lot but "plays good defense" and does "all the things that don't show up in the stat book." Completely agree, not a good comparison at all. Yeah Nocci is a scrappy player, but that's where the comparisons stop. Nocci doesn't need to score a lot on this bulls team. He's probably the 4th scoring option after Gordon, Deng and Hinrich. He helps with his intangibles, but he could become a bigger part of the offense if needed.
  12. I suspect the PSU-Wisconsin matchup will be well fought. There is no reason why PSU cannot win this game. Wisconsin's offense has been pretty solid of late, but now they'll be without both their starting WR's - Hubbard and Swan. They could struggle a bit with the passing game as PSU can primarily focus on Beckum. Defensively, Wisconsin has been porous against the run. They're young and inexperienced at key positions this year, and its showing big time. The game should be tight if PSU can effectively run and control the ball.
  13. Sucked to see Wisconsin lose today, but I couldn't say it was a total shock. Illinois has an awesome team offensively. Defensively they have some work still do, but they're opportunitistic. Offensively, if I were Illinois coaching I would rarely throw the ball. They're basically impossible to stop with Benn, Mendenhall and Juice running it. From a Wisconsin perspective, those 2 Donovan INT's was the difference in the game. Take those two back, and Wisconsin had an excellent shot to win. As a good takeaway for Wisconsin, their young player keep stepping up. Guys like Brown, Jefferson and Graham are stepping up as players like Hill, Swan and Hubbard get injured. Their offense should get more powerful in the coming years. And who would of thought Wisconsin would ever have a QB that throws for near 400 yards? Defensively, their key guys are not stepping up. They really have some work there to do.
  14. Definitely. Wisconsin has a difficult time with the spread and their defense as a whole has been terribly inconsistent. This is being recognized, which is why the early lines have Illinois as the favorites. Like another poster said, I think it comes down to turnovers. If Wisconsin can stop the run and force Juice to throw, I like their chances. Otherwise it will probably be another MSU-Wisconsin shoot'em out game.
  15. I've been following the Badgers since the mid-90's. Left Madison in 01', and attended the Rose Bowls in the late 90's. Yes, 98' and 99' were amazing years, this is why I said "generally" they don't produce teams that create lopsided victories. I'm not concerned at all about their offense. If you recall last year, it took them about 5 games into the season to really click. It was after the Michigan loss that they started to mesh and really take off. Now with Paul Chryst, their offensive is becoming more dynamic. They're recruiting exciting WR talent in Jefferon, Moore, Toon, Gilreath, etc. I'm pretty confident they'll start to gain consistency in that department. Now defensively, that's another question. Their DL can't generate consistent pressure. Ike has looked just "okay". I haven't been impressed with Casillas and Levy this year. Hodge, Langford, Pleasant and Carter have been consistently in bad locations to make plays. But with that said, many of the aforementioned are pretty young in terms of college experience. I'm hoping like the offense, the defense can start to gel. Otherwise, I can't see how this defense can hang with the likes of Illinois, Michigan or OSU. I'm mostly concerned with Illinois as a spread offense and a running QB typically equals a long, long day for Badger defenders.
  16. Well thankfully this week, the teams that lost in front of Wisconsin were all pretty big upsets. I can't see a reason why Wisconsin wouldn't be 5 or 6 in the polls. But generally, ever since I have been a Badger fan, Wisconsin hasn't built the teams that acheive lopsided victories consistently. This year is no exception. They're amazing inconsistent on both sides of the ball. Today it looked like their offense was clicking, but defensively, this might be one of the worse games I've seen them play, ever. It was just absolutely horrid. They'll need to improve bigtime next week, otherwise they'll be in a very long day.
  17. I love being right. Oh and LOL at Wisconsin struggling to beat Iowa at home. Iowa played a good game defensively. Offensively, both teams struggled, and Iowa's TD was given to them as it was obviously offensive pass interference. Overall, pretty good matchup. And there is no shame in Wisconsin struggling against Iowa at home. I mean it could be worse, they could of lost to Appl. State.
  18. I think there would be a hell of a lot more laughing at Wisconsin if that happened. doubtful considering nobody cares about Wisconsin around here Actually there are quite a few Wisconsin fans on this board, me included. Also - Chicago in general has a TON of Wisconsin alumni. Should be a good matchup. Wisconsin's offense has looked decent at times, defensively they've looked pourous against spread offenses. I expect it to be different this week. And from what I've seen of Iowa, I'll be pretty surprised if they win. Thankfully we get this game in and not USC. If you want to watch USC in the midwest, go by an expanded sports package.
  19. Well 7/15 and 90 yards really showed what he can do!!
  20. I don't know how much UM will win by but I feel pretty confident saying they will beat Penn State. based on? I don't think Penn State is very good, UM has the better starting QB and offense in general, and the game is at the Big House. Michigan has a nice offense still, but they've been losing because of DEFENSE. They've only showed they can play D in one game this year. And I'm not sure playing defense against ND takes much. And Michigan has a better QB? I'm not a huge Morelli fan, but Mallett certainly isn't better at this point. Michigan is a talented team and winning this game is possible. However, UM hasn't shown any real reasons why they could win this game.
  21. Wisconsin's D finally woke up and the offense is rolling. PJ Hill now with 5 TD's.
  22. Looking past Buffalo to the Mighty Michigan Wolverines next week. Could be the said with Wisconsin looking past Citadel. Wisconsin's D looking HORRIBLE. Ugh.
  23. What do you mean by no night Big Ten games this year? Wisconsin v. Iowa next week is at night. Should be a great game. I live next to Ryan field, looks like all the night game lights are set up. Should be a good atmosphere.
  24. The season is long, so they'll have plenty of opportunities to have a productive season. However, its going to take a lot more than soul searching. This is more than getting mentally set for a game or even game planning. They just need to get better period. Offensively, they should be good all season. Defensively they have some pretty big holes.
  25. Sure the Bulls may want him back, but like you mentioned, why would New York want to get rid of him? His contract is nice and there are not many athletic centers around. Its possible NY is scared about the matador interior style defense of Randolph and Curry. If NY truly wants to rebuild they could get some young talent and possibly an expiring contract in exchange. This could make sense fiscally and from an overall team talent perspective. But I just don't see that ever happening.
