  1. I live in Louisiana, and you'd be surprised how many Cub fans there are here. To be honest, folks here in Shreveport are mostly either Cubs fans or Braves fans (more Brave fans). I could care less what people think. I love the Cubs. I'll be there on 10/24....
  2. Imma break out my Spring Training jersey/hat. Should we get to the WS, I'll be sporting my 1990 Andre Dawson Mitchell & Ness. Geaux Cubbies!!!!
  3. I'll just say this: there are a few things that come immediately to mind when I think of Darryl Ward's 2008 season. First of all, Lou making fun of him for being out of shape in Spring Training - congratulating him for finishing a workout. He has been largely unproductive, and dead-weight defensively for this team. I know he is a vet and gets additional respect from Piniella - but when it comes down to the nuts and bolts of what is going to help this team in the post-season, Hoffpauir just offers more than Ward. Ward has had all season to at least get in shape (something Eyre did last year during the season), and he seems to have not taken the initiative to even do that. I know that sounds a bit harsh, but it is symptomatic of dedication and I think it plays a factor in his performance this season. But what do I know.
  4. Ummm, Fukudome's statistics have been steadily dropping each month. I don't think it is just a "2nd half" thing. His front side has been flying open all year, and I have been wondering why there haven't seemed to be any adjustments. He still has worth, but I think at this point the team is better with DeRosa in RF and Fontenot at 2nd in most situations.
  5. I'm SO happy about this!
  6. It should be noted that Piniella is not FORCING personell decisions by pushing pitchers to the disabled list....
  7. I am pretty certain that if the Cubs would have played the Astros in Arlington instead of Milwaukee, a majority of the fans would have been Cub fans. Almost positive, and Vance could back me on the number of Cub fans present for the Cubs/Rangers games last season. I can't really think of any venues that would have produced more Astro fans than Cubbie fans. Sorry, just the way it is....
  8. I wouldn't say Fukudome is worthless. He is very good defensively - it's just a shame that as of right now, his only real value is off the bench as a defensive replacement. All season, I was wondering how he could swing the way he does and expect to hit at the ML level. I guess I just figured he knew what he was doing and his unorthodox mechanics were not going to be adjusted by the Perry. I am assuming the reason he isn't hitting is that ML pitchers have found a good way to pitch to him with his front side flying open. I really hope he can put it together and be a force. If you look at his numbers month-to-month, it has been a steady decline. Too bad.
  9. I LOVE listening to Santo on the radio. If he played for the Yankees and had a ring, he would have been in the HOF a long time ago.
  10. Santo and the Hawk would be just....
  11. Lieber DID contribute to this team.
  12. You guys think he'll hit DeRosa 3rd?
  13. LF Soriano SS Theriot 1B Lee 3B Ramirez CF Edmonds/Johnson RF DeRosa CA Soto 2B Fontenot
  14. I can understand WHY we got Marquis. I will never understand what they were thinking when they gave him that contract. The Cubs are a better team with Marshall in the rotation, IMO.
  15. No and no. Good arguement though.
  16. Nice jab. I think it's fair to say theriot has surpassed everyone's expectations this season. give him his due, he has been productive.
  17. Geovany Soto. Ryan Dempster. Aramis Ramirez. All better MVP cadidates than Alfonso Soriano. Not to take ANYTHING away from Soriano's solid contributions to the team.
  18. I'm a little more inclinded to watch the Sox because I want to see what Kenny Griff does.
  19. A very good point. Also, where exactly do the Cubs need to upgrade in the offseason? Lock up Dempster and Wood, and that's a good offseason.
  20. I really hope Ron gets to deliver a speech as he is inducted into the Hall of Fame.
  21. http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=3160004 Sweet. Thanks Derwood.
  22. One thing I WISH that DirecTV would do is let you know which telecast is on which channel. I hate it when I set my DVR to record the Cubs HD games and there are two regular games and two HD games, and you have no idea if you are getting the CSN game or the other teams broadcast. Last night I had the same problem - the HD game was the one I recorded and I got nothing on the playback. I tried to watch it as the game was in the 7th inning when I got home and the channel didn't work. I didn't have it blacked out, it just wouldn't load. I reset my DVR machine too, and nothing.
  23. Home of V&F Transformers. BTW.
  24. MLB Extra Innings Package. Price going up each year.
