  1. I really agree with both points here. I'm starting to get a little worried about Fook. Still has great numbers, but he isn't really hitting for power and seems to be screwing himself into the ground when swinging. He doesn't look very comfortable.
  2. Who cares if Baltimore needs a SS? The Cubs have Theriot and Cedeno, and that's it. The last thing the Cubbies need is another Second Baseman. We need starting pitching.
  3. you have to touch them all Yes, heavy sarcasm.
  4. If you hit a HR, are you really "on base?"
  5. He had a pretty key steal in the win against the Reds.
  6. I predicted Theriot would hit .280-.290 with a .350 OB%. I also never thought I would see the day that Cedeno would have to approach at the plate that he has demonstrated so far this season. His hit yesterday to drive in two was a thing of beauty.
  7. Watching the game yesterday with Thom Brenneman and whoever the other dude was was absolutely nerve-wracking. For one, there was an incredible amount of "dead air" time. *He led off with criticism on a stat showing that Felix Pie hasn't made an error in so many chances. He commented that Pie was horrible with his throws to bases and has a serious problem overthrowing cutoff men. I seem to remember the PERFECT throw the other day to nail a baserunner at 3rd.... *He did mention the unexplained "spike" in performance for Geovany Soto the past couple years. Also stated that everyone is tested these days. I am not sure what his point was, but I doubt he would have made such comments about Reds players. Very, very tough to listen to that broadcast.
  8. I still think that Orie should have come up with that ball, and it should have been an error - giving Wood the No-Hitter that he deserved. That was the most dominating pitching performances I have ever seen. Also note that Houston was one of the best hitting teams in baseball at that time.
  9. NOT TONIGHTS LINEUP, this is my lineup for tonight.... RF Fukudome SS Theriot 1B Lee LF Soriano CA Soto 2B Fontenot 3B Cedeno CF Pie
  10. I wear a 48..... Yeah, let me know. You know I am going to find some way to screw up the transaction!
  11. Yeah bhogg - I bought about 5 different "Mitchell & Ness" Sandberg 84 knockoffs myself, for $50-$65 range. One of them was so ridiculous, the patch on the arm says "ML Eastern Champions." Word for word. However, I have two pinstripes and two blues - and only two of them fit like a size 52. They are both great deals and who cares if it were the real thing. If I were to pay $250 for a jersey, that bad boy would be on my wall in a plaque. If anyone wants one and wears a size 48 in jersey - lemmeno....
  12. What I gathered from his response is he is freaking tired of people questioning him putting Soriano at the top of the order.
  13. From April 16 - 30, the Cubs had a .322 OB% out of the #1 spot in the order (mostly Reed Johnson, with Mike Fontenot and Eric Patterson). Point taken. RJ seemed a lot more productive than that. Guess it helps to look at the numbers....
  14. Ummm, what if he does? Is Ronny Cedeno going to continue to hit as well as he is right now? They are both hot, they both should play. What exactly has Theriot done to lose his job? I don't think that the Theriot/Cedeno "competition" is really a problem for the Cubs right now. Soriano batting at the top of the order is the problem. The Cubs had a good thing going with Johnson/Theriot at the top.
  15. Nevermind the fact that Wood's defense was stellar for him last night. Soriano should have caught that ball, for starters.
  16. I am VERY impressed not only with Cedeno's production, but his approach at the plate. He finally seems to "get it" and he is looking pretty tough. It's a good problem to have, but as long as he gets enough AB's to stay sharp, we have a pretty good tandem at SS/2B.
  17. His numbers aren't really that bad, as he has drawn some walks and has got on base at a pretty decent rate. He will hit, maybe he just needs a couple starts so he can get some at bats under his belt (pun not intended). He is in much worse shape than last year, though. He should mix in a salad.
  18. Ward is not fat, he's obese. He is literally in terrible shape, and Lou was making comments about it in Spring Training - how he was "proud" of D Ward for completing a workout. He can't play defense anymore because of his size and mobility, and it's a shame. If he doesn't hit, what good is he to this team?
  19. As long as Theriot or Johnson are getting on at a .400 OB clip, I don't see any problems with leading off with either of them.
  20. The D-Lee/Chris Young thing? I think thats long over. It will just come down to one of the best offenses in the game vs. one of the best pitching staffs in the game. I just hope we can get at least on inning of Glendon Rusch. Maybe I'm thinking about Atlanta and the Renteria slide into Fontenot. Too bad he's with Detroit now...
  21. It's going to be a little interesting when the Cubbies get together with San Diego, I seem to remember a little bad blood last season, and thinking "man, gonna have to wait until next season or the playoffs to see what happens..."
  22. I understand the RBI arguement, but is Soriano going to hit in the 5 hole? Have we established that he isn't that good with runners on base? Tough choice. What I do know is I like players who have patience at the plate. They take more walks, get better pitches to hit, and the odds go up tremendously that they get mistake pitches. Soriano isn't that guy. Wish he would show more patience....
  23. Point taken, and agreed. I haven't seen Soto hit higher than DeRosa yet (or did I miss it?). Personally, if I were making the lineup....
  24. you do know that soto's OPS is pushing 1.100 right now, don't you? I do now. Doesn't surprise me. I don't see him hitting higher than 6 in the order, not that I think he couldn't handle it. Pretty nice situation to have, when you have productive 6-7-8 hitters....
