  1. Perez is starting to hit the ball now, i can see him going 3/5 today
  2. Having Patterson and Perez bat 1-2 in front of a guy having the season any player could dream of last year made a lot of sense. But of course, he can make "the right lineups." Who would you bat 1 and 2 last year Walker definitely and maybe even Barrett. Some people last year were even clamoring for having Lee lead off last year with the lack of success with Patterson and Perez in the lineup. Lee leading off?

  4. My point is i trust Baker to make the right lineups day in day out. I also trust Dusty because he almost became the first manager in baseball history to bring 2 different teams to a world series in consecutive years.
  5. Baker is among the winningest managers in the majors since 1993, and is a three-time winner of the Manager of the Year award.
  6. Patterson was a bum in Chicago. Why you people are second guessing the deal to me dosent make any sense. Patterson couldnt lay off a high fastball and a low fastball in the dirt to save his life in chicago. He couldnt get on base, he couldnt hit a cutoff man, and he couldnt utilize his speed. I would take Pierre over Patterson anyday
  7. Figures this hurts my fantasy team
  8. Kendall would be a really good number 2 hitter on a good team, Kendall will always be one of my favorite players. Good for him.
  9. Heard on the radio today Prior will make another apperance for Peoria. Prior is scheduled to throw 65 pitches then should move up for a start in Iowa.
  10. Maybe the cubs staff thinks D-Lee will take a little bit longer to get healthy in the mean time Nevin can fill in at 1b and Walker can slid over to 2b. Glad to see Hairston moved he couldnt hit water if he fell out of a boat.
  11. If Aardsma can continue pitching like how he is right now it will be a huge boost to the bullpen.
  12. I dont know why everyone is thinking the Cubs are going to get "TOP" prospects in return for Wood. Its not like the other GM's are in the dark about Wood they all know he has had injury problems they all know he isnt worth top prospects. Wood has to pitch his way back to the way he was in 03 for the cubs to even get a top prospect in return.
  13. The odds of them making the playoffs are less than 1 in 400 and have been dropping, not rising. I love the Cubs, and that's why I'm rooting against them right now. They will be destined for medicority (or worse) as long as the current management is in place. I really dont understand a Cub fan rooting aginst the cubs. I guess im the only one on nsbb that dosent root against them, not to say their isnt people on here who dont root against them but it seems like more and more people are rooting for this team to finish dead last. By the way I dont think Hendry is going to fire Baker during the season. In my opinion I think Dusty should get an extension. He brought the SF Giants to the 02 world series, and came 5 outs from bringing the cubs to the world series. Maybe if the players on the cubs could play to their potential we wouldnt be disscussing this.
  14. Clemens will help the Astros but im not sure they will make the playoffs. Lidge is having problems closing out games and their bullpen which was such a strong part of the team the past couple of years is not the same. Pettitte is struggling this year, Backe is on the DL, and Berkman is having knee problems.
  15. Aardsma looked real good today. Got ahead of every single hitter he faced with his 98mph fastball. If he can locate that fastball like he did today I think the cubs have a really good set up man/closer in the future.
  16. Nice to see Kerry Wood get his first vitory since July 05. He showed a nice changeup today and threw alot more 2 seam fastball's. Maybe he realized you dont need to strikeout every batter to win a ball game. Good job Kerry
  17. I think his velocity is a major concern. Reports from todays game had him in 86-89 range. This could mean he is holding back something or it could mean his shoulder needs to get stronger so he can be back to that 91-95 range. Looks like Prior will have to make 3 more starts in the minors because he lasted only 2 innings in todays game and obviously needs to regain his arm strength. It would not help the major league ball club if he can only pitch 4-5 innings each 5th day.
  18. ok I rather have Howry than Farnsworth
  19. While it's obvious that you're being sarcastic, there are some on this board who lack the ability to detect sarcasm. Initially, those people will respond harshly to your post. Then, embarassed that they didn't immediately recognize that you weren't serious, they will criticize you for not using a smiley to indicate your lack of sincerity. In coming days, you will be told that your "sarcasm act" is getting old. Eventually your loyalty to the Cubs will be questioned, probably by a poster who lacks grammatical skills and whose screenname is a combination of a rather generic word and a number. Finally, there will be a call for you to take an "absolute psychological test" to prove you can handle the pressures of posting despite your track record that shows you excel at such an activity. Be careful. Your not attacking me are you? Another Cheap shot by cheapseats(wow what a generic name)
  20. http://peoriachiefs.com.ismmedia.com/ISM2/NewsManager/1038.jpeg.300.jpeg Prior will be making his first rehab start of the year, after this game he will fly back to Chicago to see what his next step will be. Speculation is he will make another start with Peoria then maybe make a start with Iowa before being called up. ----------------------------------- Broadcast Info: Peoria Chiefs (A) Local: WOAM 1350 Internet: Peoria Chiefs web site (select "Listen Live") Direct Link to MiLB.com Multimedia (scroll down to Peoria Chiefs) Note for Firefox users: If the list of available broadcasts does not appear, try switching rendering engines to Explorer.
