  1. If he's signed as the fourth outfielder, that's not as much of a problem. 7 million for a bench player is a problem. 3 million for a broken down reliever who can't pitch on consecutive days is probably a bigger problem. Spending 10-12 million on RF is not a problem if it's productive. I dont know where you got the idea of Moises Alou taking a bench role.

  3. I'm sorry if you don't like productive players. http://www.mace27.com/photos/041704/18.jpg That's my guy right there.
  4. He reminds of Curt Schilling.
  5. It's so cute how everyone is falling into this Alou frenzy. http://www.goatriders.org/archives/moises_alou_angry.jpg
  6. Makes sense when the number 9 hitter is the pitcher.
  7. Interesting, the same could be said for Alou. Alou has always been known as a pretty good teammate. In fact, from all indications, he was a very positive influence on Ramirez. Where did you hear he was a positve influence on Ramirez?

  9. hill was between 90 & 92 the last month + with the cubs and might have had a few 94's himself. how is lilly's occasional 94 "much harder" than hill's? Does it really matter? You dont need to have a 94mph fastball to have success in the big leagues.
  10. You should never make personel decisions based solely on what the player did the year before. Agreed, but his 2003 wasn't too bad either. I say that with this in mind, Hendry basically replaced him with Burnitz. I would have taken Alou over JB every day of the week. I thought Hendry replaced Sosa with Burnitz. And that bum Dubois replaced Alou.
  11. You would also have to consider the risk of Alou being injured. Have the Cubs learned their lesson yet?
  12. You're joking right? So you would rather have Julian Tavarez pitching in the 9th rather than Papelbon?
  13. and how far did that 'strength' take the cubs last year? I never understood the concept of turning a strength into a weakness. That strength didnt take the Cubs too far last year, because eveything else about the Cubs was a complete joke. Trading Scott Eyre isn't going to make the bullpen a weakness. Who takes his place then? Ideally Wuertz or Ohman (if used against the right batters). We've got all kinds of young pitchers that could use some bullpen time to get more MLB experience...Marmol, Mateo, Marshall, Ryu... Marmol needs to work on his mechanics, Mateo still hasnt shown me anything, Marshall is a starter with horrible control, and Ryu needs more work in the minors.
  14. Liriano's piss poor mechanics are to blame here.

  17. He wasn't very good last year and makes a lot of money. He had a couple of injuries last year also. His weight was a obvious problem as well.
  18. Why does everyone want Eyre traded?
  19. I wouldn't mind the Cubs exploring trades for their bullpen arms. If it means improving their team, then I am all for that.
  20. Just wow. If you're trading Howry, Eyre, and Ohman your bullpen wont be a strength. You would be turning that bullpen into a weakness.
  21. I love the high fastball Robertson almost threw to the backstop.
  22. I am going to say the Cards will win this game tonight.
