  1. Carlos Lee will weigh 350 lbs in 6 years. And he will probably still be driving in close to 100 runs by then too.
  2. Defense doesn't matter.
  3. I just want to credit Hendry for finally stepping up and paying the big bucks to land a top FA.
  4. False How so? Roberts is quite a bit better. I would disagree with that.
  5. Tampa is looking for a ace pitcher in return for Baldelli. I don't think the Cubs are willing to give up any kind of SP at this time.
  6. he is a good player, but he's also overrated. he's being paid like one of the best players in baseball, and he clearly isn't. How is he overrated? Please no stats involved. Your opinion. And I agree with you that he doesn't deserve to get a $136 million dollar contract. But I will never consider him to be overrated. i think jacque jones is better than albert pujols. prove me wrong...oh, and please no stats involved. Pujols is the games best fastball hitter. He has great plate discipline, plays a solid D at 1B, gets on base, hits for power, hits for a high average, team player, and he runs the bases well. And he has a MVP award.

How in the blue hell are you supposed to say what you think of a player without going off of stats? It's pretty easy.

  9. I have been laughing so hard reading these posts. Soriano not a good player? Soriano overrated?
  10. Their rotation is going to be a huge question mark. Oswalt is going to be a health concern with his violent hip action, and Roger and Andy both may retire.
  11. See STL. I assume they will make the nec. moves as well. I see them putting Wainwright in the rotation along side Carpenter, Reyes, and probably Suppan (again) and some project. As well as maybe one more arm in the pen. They'll likely go with Duncan or another OF'er in LF. They will improve. Carpenter, Wainwright, and Reyes has the makings of a good rotation. Reyes was about as good as Marshall last year and nowhere near as good as Hill when all was said and done. Wainwright, tough to tell. high touted, but history of mechanical and arm problems. moving into the rotation will be interesting to watch. Carpenter? I'm still waiting for his surgically repaired arm to fall off after all these innings and curveballs. Reyes and Prior have very similiar upper body mechanics. Elbow lifters would be a good way to describe them. Kerry Wood and John Smoltz are the same way. Basically, if the Cards could get 30 starts out of Carpenter, Reyes, and Wainwright I don't see why they shouldn't be conisder a potential threat in the NL Central.
  12. emphasis added. I love the arm chair quarterbacking of GMs. noboday has any idea whatsoever of what happens in these negotiations, yet people presume they know what probably could have happened. Agreed.

  14. No way would LAA do that deal. After missing out on Aramis and now Soriano, the Angels are likely going to try and strike a deal for Tejeda. Any deal involving Tejeda would have to include Ervin Santana.
  15. izturis, marshall and ohman. pleeeeeeeeeeeeease keep wuertz. Ohman has alot of value also. Left handed batter's only hit .158 against Ohman last year. Alot of playoff teams wanted Ohman because of his ability to get out left handed batter's.
  16. The Cubs need PITCHING
  17. Joey Cora, ChiSox 3B coach He is now the bench coach.
  18. Bush League Stat. no it's not. it loses alot of meaning if the player consistently puts up an astronomical batting average, but it's not a bush league stat for most players in baseball. So isod has no value to it. If you can't use it for everyplayer, then why use it at all. what the hell are you talking about? Im not a big stat guy like you guys seem to be. Some of these stats are a waste of time in my opinion. BTW, isod means International Society of Orbital Disorder.  i'm sorry, i didn't understand what you were trying to say. go on appreciating baseball, just don't ever assert that you understand it. Relax. ???? Just because I dont use the International Society of Orbital Disorder stat doesn't mean I don't understand baseball.
  19. Getting back on the topic, I think Vernon Wells would be a tremendous player for the Cubs. He brings power, hits for average, steals bases, and plays a gold glove CF.
