And then this to sum it up. I think this is a legit concern. The 500 innings more than Wood, doesn't say too much given his workload the past 3 seasons, but the amount of abuse Wood took before even being drafted might be similar. No FA pitcher is a lock, and Matsuzaka is a bigger investment than any other pitcher if you include the posting fee. Winning him will be great, but losing him will not be the end of the world unless the Cards somehow got him :-) I dont know much about Matsuzaka, but if he has mechanics like Wood, then I think it would be a huge concern.
