  1. It would make for good TV, not sure how it will affect the game.
  2. Speaking of fairly productive veterans who would look great in a platoon roll: Free-agent outfielder Trot Nixon has agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Cleveland Indians, ESPN.com's Peter Gammons reports.
  3. My guess is that if it was big, they would pick it up. If they were signing Drew to play center, or trading for Miguel Cabrera, it would be out there. But the fact that is hasn't leaked probably means it's quite minor, like the signing of a draft pick.
  4. Every single ESPN analyst picked the Saints. ESPN had a "Bad News Bears" headline across its banner. I like it. I like it a lot.
  5. Not much. He doesn't have much velocity, from what I've heard. Everything says he's extremely raw. It's all about the tools. He's going to be quite a project for the developmental people. I should add, yes, he probably could be really good. It'll just take a ton of work, and luck.
  6. Are you kidding me? Overlooked? That's been the storyline all week. The Saints are somehow playing the best, even though, as others have pointed out, they were 5-5 in their last 10, and lost to a bad Washington in a still meaningful week 15 contest. Even if you don't want to give the Bears any benefit of the doubt for winning despite playing prevent for the past month, New England has been at least as good as New Orleans, if not better, down the stretch. The Saints were 10-6 this season. 4-4 in the 2nd half. They're hardly rolling through the league.
  7. It's been reported in recent days that you might see Samard zija, Samard zija, Samardzija, sign a baseball only contract before the Senior Bowl practices begin.
  8. Unless I write sentences 1000 times, I may never spell his name correctly. Samardzija. Samardzija. Samardzija. You might be right, you just tried 3 times and didn't get it right once :D Well, there you go. I cannot call him "Sammy" or "shark". Samardzija Samardzija Samardzija. Call him Jeff S. It took me a while to get Grudzielanek down, but I think I can do Samardzija if I type slowly.
  9. Seriously, do you really think that? The guy barely plays anymore. I want OBP too, but not at the cost of looking like an organization that will stoop to any levels. Did McGwire equal murderer's row for the Cards in his last season? That's what Barry is now. He's McGwire, juicing his last batch to eek out a few more ABs. Besides, I think Murt breaks out this season. Barry would take ABs away from Murt for absolute certain. Bonds had 15 fewer PA than Murton last year. So it doesn't make much sense to say he "barely plays anymore". He had an OPS+ of 156 last year, while Big Mac had a 106 in his last year. So it doesn't make much sense to say that's what Barry is now.
  10. I think this would significantly decrease his chances to ever sniff the major leagues as a pitcher. Bet you a thousand bucks youll drop that statement tomorrow after lunch^ Why, is he going to break his arm and have it healed by then?
  11. They never played Philly on grass. i thought Philly plays on Grass, nevermind that then They played Philly at home. yeah i thought Philly plays on grass at home, i was wrong They played Philly @ NO. Both times. I was wondering how long this could go on.
  12. They never played Philly on grass. i thought Philly plays on Grass, nevermind that then They played Philly at home.
  13. Exactly. The Cubs randomly decide to spend and they have as much money as they want/need. What are people seeing that indicates that they're running light in the pockets? Their spending habits are not random. Despite all the spending, this year's payroll is not all that high. Most of the deals are severaly backloaded, so that right now, the payroll looks to be somewhere around $105.
  14. Well that's just not true. I don't understand why Boosh and Twuce are getting all the press, when the NO running game hasn't been all that good. They've relied on the passing game all year.
  15. It's DEUCE. Jesus man, if you're going to lay some smack at least spell the guys name right. Then stop typing y'all. "Y'all" is in the dictionary. "Duece" is not. breeze is going down
  16. It's DEUCE. Jesus man, if you're going to lay some smack at least spell the guys name right. the point still stands and pointing out i used the wrong spelling dosent change the fact that they are very ordinary outside of New Orleans Saints were 6-2 on the road this year and both Bush and Deuce averaged 3.9ypc on the road. 3-2 on natural turf.
  17. It's DEUCE. Jesus man, if you're going to lay some smack at least spell the guys name right. Then stop typing y'all.
  18. I doubt Hendry would be involved in such an announcement.
  19. That's like saying it's insane to lock up Gotti. Murders and racketeering aside, that guy still knew how to make money! Are you really serious? Are you really serious?
  20. I think it's a coincidence. San Diego could have and should have won, and they were a franchise back type of team. There are other split RB teams out there that absolutely stink. I don't think it's necessary to split them, but it is important to get some production out of RB. So, if you have to use mutiple guys to accomplish that, then do it.
  21. Wow, outstanding retort! "the post makes no sense?" so now jones is a little above average and decent. I guess ill take that over average. There is a reason they got him on the cheep. 4 years 10 million dollar deal is cheap? Such a stupid comment. Quantify Franchise Back. Show me how Benson IS a franchise back. Show me why Jones is not. And I will agree with you. But give me statistic and not your unsolicited scouting reports. or we can just end this and go back to hating the Saints. Yes, 4/10 is very cheap for a starting RB. My "scouting reports" were actually solicited, seeing as how somebody asked for reasons why I thought Benson was better. I'm not sure Benson will be a franchise back, I just know Jones isn't. He's been around for a while and hasn't done much of anything. I wasn't a fan of Benson at the beginning, but from what I've seen, I think he can fit the bill.
  22. He was the pitching guru who took a seemingly raw Mark Prior (who was drafted by the Yanks in 98, I believe) and in three yrs, transformed Prior into arguably the "most hyped" college pitcher in yrs. Not saying Prior didn't deserve it at the time, but considering his production at the major league level.... Considering what he did at the outset of his career, I think the hype was obviously much deserved. It's not a lack of ability/effectiveness that has marred recent seasons.
  23. And there's also a reason he's starting and Benson is not. Because he's the "trusted veteran" and the other veterans were mad that Benson got his job. I'm not going to argue over this right now. Somebody asked for people to give reason for saying Benson should get more carries, and I did that. If somebody else wants to get all worked up over that statement, so be it. I did not want another RB taken in 2006, but he was. And from what I've seen, I think he's clearly better. Some people don't see it that way. Fine. Combined they are pretty productive, although Turner still struggles with sticking with a running game when it's clicking. Hopefully they dominate this game on Sunday.
  24. This post made no sense, just like the claim that Jones is the guy that got us here. He's just a decent back, maybe a little above average, but nowhere near a franchise back. There's a reason the Bears got him on the cheap.
