  1. If you have Time Warner cable in NY you can't watch this game. MSG/cablevision and TWC are in contract talks. MSG is such a joke, this is about the 20th time that NY fans have been screwed out of watching something because the Dolans are such dirty businessmen.
  2. Doesn't the NBA reseed after the first round? If they were 5th or 6th and won (and the 7th seed lost) then they would face the #1 team anyway.
  3. Yes, you do. I picked mine up on the 16th and they actually ran the card thru to get the tickets that were purchased against it. They said this was a new way this year. They didn't need the order numbers (I brought all my email confirmations because last year I needed thoses), but they did need the credit card. Kasey What would they do if a card expired between the date of purchase and date of game?
  4. I picked up a bunch yesterday. Just bring your order numbers, a photo ID and the credit card of purchase and you're all set. Do you really need the credit card of purchase. I remember the first time I purchased online and went through the will-call process; I made sure I had all that stuff. But I didn't need the CC, so the last few times I've never bothered.
  5. you have 1 minute. they are in the back of the section...not the greatest seats, want me to try for others? I'd like to put in a request for Game 2 of the World Series, anything in the lower deck or bleachers is fine. Thanks in advance.
  6. Well, one of my underlings finally got through. Once she got past the waiting room though it was still touch and go with the page though. All the good seats were gone, but at least I'll get into Wrigley for face value once this year.
  7. I really really don't like you. :thunder:
  8. That's gonna be strange, they aren't playing the DBacks August 26.
  9. I'd just like to say I hate all of you who have had success so far. 2 year shutout streak is intact.
  10. Man crush? I don't know about that. I think (my opinion) is that Hendry saw how Baker handled Bonds and thought that he could do the same with Sosa. Baker failed at that so I think this is when the idea of Baker being the one that can sooth anything was shot down. Now Baker has to win IMO are at worst be in the playoffs this year and if the Cubs finish in third again Baker may be gone. I don't think he hired him to babysit Sammy. He paid the man top dollar. He hired him because he thought he could somehow add value and bring this team a championship. I don't see the Cubs firing Dusty in the middle of his contract without dumping the man who made the mistake of hiring him in the first place.
  11. Hendry had more of a man crush on Baker than he did Barrett. He went hard after his man and got him. Do you really think he doesn't care for the job Dusty is doing? If he was willing to hire him when everybody knew all of his faults, he obviously didn't consider those faults. If his faults didn't bother him before, why would they now?
  12. I read the same quote but it said "we've played a lot of games this year" not "haven't".
  13. I think Directv either made the mistake of not blacking out the game on comcast for out of towners, or they were providing a little tease for those people who didn't buy the NBA league pass because I was able to see the game last night but no others from outside the NY area.
  14. I would like to have found out how he did in crucial games, as opposed to Jose Macias. Yup. You really have to wonder if the Cubs couldn't have won a few more games if Dubois had gotten all the OF playing time that went to Macias and Goodwin. As long as we have Dusty Baker managing we'll have "what ifs" like this at the end of the season. Is your anti-Baker bias that strong? Or did you miss the games between late May - late August when our bullpen blew many, many, many 6th, 7th and 8th inning leads. I hated Macias and Goodwin playing, too, but Dubois playing didn't cost us nearly the number of games as our bullpen did. It would've been nice if Hendry would've improved a glaring weakness we had for 3/4 of the season - the bullpen. Why is it that everytime somebody points out a negative about Baker, you jump in with a Hendry comment? Do you not agree with what that person wrote, that Dusty is known for playing undeserving old players often at the detriment of the team? Isn't it possible that both Hendry's failures to fill all the holes and Dusty's failure to manager a decent game led to the demise? What is it about Dusty that makes you feel so strongly about deflecting criticism away from him?
  15. Hype? Nobody has talked about him outside of the people around here who closely follow the minor leagues. How is Grieve not bad?
  16. What percentage of the three million people who walked through the turnstiles at Wrigley Field this year went to see Sammy Sosa? My guess is less that 10%. And I think I'm being pretty generous. I went to eight games this year (two more at Miller Park and a couple during spring training, too!). I went to see the team, not him. Five years ago I would have answered differently. But not now. Edited for spelling. I was at Shea when the Cubs played, and I would guess anywhere from 3-5% of the people there showed up at least partially because Sammy was in town.
  17. Kris Benson? The Mets are idiots, and they are run by PR people. Minaya is a Sosa lover and he's been dying to take credit for him since the late 90's. Everybody thought they could have had Vladdy if they wanted him, but they didn't. Everybody thought they could have had any big name free agent since 2000, but all they got was Glavine. You never know with those guys.
  18. I'd be fine with Dubois as our starting LF (or RF) next year...if an impact player is added somewhere else. Jason's problem is that he's another right handed power hitter in a lineup replete with them. This is true. But another thing to consider if Jason will take the occasional walk, a big difference with most of the rest of the team. He's got .123 walks per at bat as a minor leaguer, compared to the Cubs team which drew just .087. Dubois isn't the ideal man to fill in LF, assuming the rest of the team stays pretty similar to how it is. But he's not a bad option. If they somehow trade Sammy, and make changes elsewhere, Dubois might end up being the best option for LF.
  19. Bruce, Do you think the Cubs regret in any way not making more of an effort to convince Kaz Matsui that Chicago was as good a destination as NY, LA or Seattle were, ala Theo Epstein reversing Schilling's anti-Boston sentiment? Or are they comfortable with possibly being stuck with Gonzalez not only this year, but the next couple as well? Last year the Cubs went pretty heavy after catchers in the draft. A couple seasons ago they were all over athletic middle infielders. With no first rounder, do you see them focusing on a specific position this June, and which position would that be? OF, potential leadoff guys, college relievers who could progress quickly but might not have a ton of upside, more middle infielders?
  20. 3 parter for Mr. Miles: 1) What sort of dollar figure do you think the Cubs will be willing to add to the payroll in July? 2) Was the early fan support expected, and therefore included in the budget, or were they cautiously optimistic and now pleasantly surprised to the point of willing to change the budget? 3) Do you think the Prior mystery is at all tied into the desire to sell as many tickets as possible before the season began?
  21. We never wanted Jenkins, he's just as injury-prone as Alou. Beltran and Ordonez remain our top two targets to replace Moises. Just curious Don have Hendry every stated any intent of signing those guys? I always thought he would like one of our minor leaguers to take over after Alou. Well it would be against the rules for Hendry to stated he had any intent of signing either of those guys. While certain GM's and owners like to test those rules with tampering statements , that's not Hendry's game.
