  1. Not a bad at bat by Jacque, but he froze him there at the end.
  2. funny how that's the only thing Steve Stone could think of to say that is positive about the current Cubs. Well, there's really not much positive about this team.... Except the fact that they could win there 3rd series in a row when they win today vs the Reds, Card and "stros! Kind of like when they finished over .500 in back to back seasons? A couple series wins is not much of a positive. 10 games under .500 is 10 games under .500 (same with 11 games under, and 12).
  3. Putting the ball in play is not hitting. Avoiding K's is not hitting. Contact is not hitting. They haven't been hitting because they've been going after the pitcher's pitch and grounding weakly to the infield. When practically every instance of contact is a slow roller you are not going to pile up hits.
  4. When you don't hit in general, you can't expect to hit in certain situations either.
  5. He's barely staying alive with some ugly swings right now.
  6. How was that a strike? Thank you Murton for actually taking a pitch or two.
  7. Which is ironic. Since Aramis is fat. actually I think Ramirez has slimmed down. I don't think he's fat at all now.
  8. Well, you're probably right. But I'm pissed and I want to vent.
  9. They need 3. The really good teams need 3 really big threats. Not necessarily 3 superstars, but 3 legit threats, like a Ramirez, Lee, somebody kind of thing.
  10. I'm not happy. These pathetic slugs need to be shamed into changing their approach. Nothing good can happen from breaking up a shut out in the 9th or escaping a no-hitter against a minor leaguer. Why does it matter? Even if they got litterally embarrased by a no hitter dusty would just say "gotta tip your cap dude" and his attitude would rub off onto the players as "just something that happens sometimes". This approach and the "tipping of caps" will not end until dustworthless is gone!! Then maybe the embarrasment will force management to make a change. If we lose another 10 in a row. Maybe. But we'd have to litterally dig ourselves a grave before that happened. I didn't say it was definitely going to happen. But I'd rather these fools be no-hit, and exposed to the clueless people who don't yet understand the problems, than scratch out some undeserved hits to make it look like things aren't as bad as they truly are.
  11. Don't give me this settle down crap. The Cubs are being no hit (yes, no hit, that was an error) against a very bad pitcher. They are a pathetic bunch of morons with a terrible approach led by a clueless manager and neanderthal GM who is more interested in bodies than baseball players. They are the worst offense in baseball and have had the same problems, that have never been addressed, for several years. Don't tell me to settle down because they'll eventually get to him and are only down 1-0.

  13. It's pretty simple really. The Cubs are dumb, and don't know how to approach their at bats. Other teams aren't as dumb.
  14. If he needs 5 or 6 days to come back from 80-90 pitch outings, don't you think he'll need a lot of time coming back from 20-30 pitch outings in the pen? I don't think a move to the pen is going to help a guy who needs long recovery times. No, I think it's much easier to recover from a 20-30 pitch effort than an 80-90 pitch effort. Remember they moved him to the bullpen last year because the 50-60 pitch mark was what they said was the problem. I just think it's better to build up his strength slowly out of the bullpen. Plus I think it's better for him in the long run. They moved him there, but that doesn't mean it was the right thing to do. And last year wasn't the same as the current, post-surgery problems. They thought he couldn't physically handle the 90 pitch outings last year, this year he can't recover between outings. Big difference.

  16. G*$%#$%#$^%&)*@#$ How do you take that swing on 0-0 Murton? That's pathetic. That's Cubs teaching right there. I do not believe he would have done that without all the be aggressive crap.
  17. That's a bad decision by the home scorekeeper. That was an error.
  18. And it's been that way for years. Stupid approaches by stupid players led by a stupid manager. Count me in as well, their refusal to adjust their collective approach based on a given pitcher' pattern, etc. is beyond stupid. I'd like them to go with some pitches...outside to right field. The outs are bad, but when its 2-0 and you ground out weakly...that's just bad decisions It's common sense with a young pitcher on the mound you have to show more patience. Why help them out in any way or let them get into a grove. Make them prove they can throw Strikes at the big league level. Other teams do that do our young kids...Just don't get it... "Everybody in baseball knows that minor league pitchers are the hardest guys to hit - those guys just come out throwing" Well played. You could have gone with the "there is no book on them" claim
  19. They might have been asked, but they refused, put a dip in then went golfing.
  20. If the season ended today, and free agency started tomorrow, you're probably right. But that's not the case, and you've got no justification for such a claim.

  22. very close play, but replay showed it was the right call
