Neither of them can hit but Hill calls a much better game and throws better.....I honestly think Soto will be a backup/out of baseball for good now Last year was a fluke
Something tells me having an angry manager harp about fundamentals isn't going to change anything. These are grown men who have been playing baseball for most of their lives; bringing in new coaches and new managers really will not change a whole lot. You'd still see Soriano do that annoying hop, swing at horrible pitches, and have a loopy swing. You'd still see Theriot having trouble ranging in either direction and making the throws he needs to make. You'd still see Kevin Gregg struggle with his control and periodically give up HRs. If you want a fundamentally sound team, this one is not constructed to pull that style of baseball off. Bringing in someone like Sandberg won't magically change the problems facing this team. It can't hurt....the only way to get through to players these days is to embarrass them because fining them does no good anymore with the huge salaries....Lou 20 years ago would not have stood by and watched this, Girardi wouldn't have watched this, and Sandberg won't either All we get are so called "players managers" anymore (even though we didnt think we were with Lou)....lets try someone that keeps the players on their toes because they know they will be held accountable for once
That will be almost impossible. Lou is basically in a coma out there. Hope you love bunting with the #3 hitter and a general disdain towards statistics. Sandberg hasn't shown himself to be the brightest bulb in this system. Just because he wants to manage doesn't mean he'll be given the reins when Lou steps down. I guarantee he won't have the #3 hitter lay down a sac bunt in any situation in the majors....just because he's teaching minor leaguers how to play the game and learn all the fundamentals does NOT mean he will do it in the big leagues To be quite honest, this team sucks fundamentally and it shows

That's why he through his bat into the rack in the dugout. I know his slumps are very, very annoying and he makes a lot of money, but to imply that he doesn't try is a little ridiculous. I definitely think he tries at the plate, but doesn't look like he tries to change anything with his approach or with his swing I get the idea he doesn't think he has to change anything. Like you said, I don't think it is completely a lack of effort, but more stubbornness. If that is the case, maybe a full season of struggling will change his mindset a little bit. Lets hope

I definitely think he tries at the plate, but doesn't look like he tries to change anything with his approach or with his swing I think I remember Von Joshua working with him on his swing when Joshua was promoted to hitting coach this year. I'm sure Perry did too but he must either not understand or not listen

RISP: .222/.339/.411 Man (just) on 3rd - .000/.273/.000 Man on 1st/3rd - .182/.250/.455 Man on 2nd/3rd - .000/.333/.000 Bases Loaded - .200/.235/.400 bout what I expected....almost worthless
I know some hate the stat but what is Soriano hitting with runners in scoring position? and how many times does runner score from third with one out and him at the plate?
2 month slump? What the hell are you talking about? He had one almost that long in the first half and he's been cold for almost 3 weeks now, but his July was pretty beast. Ya he did have a good July, you are correct....I guess it just seems like thats carried over by how bad hes been lately Regardless, whats the best way to get him out of this slump?
What you guys think? we are gonna need Sori to get hot to make the run we need.... Do we A. Sit him about 3 days to try to clear his mind B. Let him work thru this 2 month slump At this point I really don't know, but its almost crazy not having Fox in there now when Sori is so bad, but if he would get hot he would be better than Fox
