I understand Smoltz is coming off surgery, but that small of loss of velocity is pretty meaningless. Tim Lincecum has had the same. I don't think he'll be spectacular, but his peripherals with Boston suggested he'll be a pretty decent pitcher going forward. -

Looked pretty good. Velocity was there, slider and splitter looked as good as always. However, it was just 5 innings and against the Padres. Still makes me wonder why the Sox cut him. The only thing I can think of is that they didn't want to pay him the 35K a day or whatever when they have Bucholz and Bowden waiting in the wings. FWIW concerning the other games thread, I would have been posting updates even if he would have gotten shelled. -
Yea I got banned for my posts in the Other games thread when the Cubs caught up with the Cardinals, but these guys think they should be able to gloat and rub it in our faces in the Other games thread here. Typical you got banned for calling an established poster a whiny little ____ anyways, I can see this thread has run its course
