  1. It's actually quite close to a highway, gas station, stores, etc. Just framed in by all those trees.
  2. I hope that no one here ever works at a place where a few people make bad decisions, because then maybe you may just be lumped in with them. To infer that Bradley or any other coach is on the same level as Curley and Schultz is so incredibly irresponsible it infuriates me. Better yet, I hope no one here ever is told a rumor about someone they know, because apparently when a rumor is heard, you must make a judgement about them on the spot, and it better be the correct one. Otherwise you are an evil person.
  3. Gee, I wonder who authorized him on recruiting trips? This story gets worse every single day Guys, calm down and wait for the facts. This kid wasn't recruited by Penn State.
  4. It was Joe Sarra, not Sandusky. But I'm sure that won't stop the conspiracy nuts, like anyone who infers Gricar was murdered as part of a coverup (he is most likely still alive). Rabble rabble away! Not to get too far off the beaten path, but I would love to know your rationale for this. Well, his personal computer at home had searches for "how to destroy a hard drive", "how to fry a hard drive", "hard drive under water" and "hard drive water damage". They found his laptop in the Susquehanna river missing its hard drive, and when they found his hard drive, it was unrecoverable. This was a guy who didn't want to be found. I know people in the SCPD that believe he is living in another country and others that believe he is in some type of Witness Security Program (he took down a 60 mil drug ring and was receiving many threats). Anyway, just my opinion. He was a very weird man.

  6. It kind of surprises me how the Second Mile is getting a 'free pass' in the blame game. Here is a guy who worked with psychologists and specialists in child molestation whom were seemingly also fooled. Their President was given a directive regarding the restriction of their most famous employee and bringing kids on campus, and they didn't find that odd? "Jerry has been accused a couple times of molesting kids? Whelp, until I see it with my own eyes, I'll just sign off on this trip to Tampa Jerry has planned with this poor young boy. One hotel room with a king size bed? La la la la la can't hear you la la la la la...." I hope everyone involved with this is gone by Thanksgiving at the latest, no doubt. I just find it odd that of all the heads people are calling for, the higher ups of The Second Mile are always absent.
  7. Game 7 of World Series?
  8. Do you really think a coach like Meyer wants to take over a program that's about to be leveled with NCAA sanctions, or a program that's never been in trouble and lets it's coach stay as long as he wants?
  9. This belongs in the not-yet-created offseason thread, but...
  10. Hollandsworth's Mug wants Brenly as GM, obviously.
  11. Uhhhh, please STOP! The Cubs will not be trading any of those guys for a GM. Justin Upton, maybe. Someone who doesn't play baseball, no chance.
  12. yeah because psu has just been giving up truckloads of points this year. If you consider yourself a fan of a program, yet don't know how to spell your starting Quarterback's name, you probably don't know what you are talking about. oh, PSU has a starting QB? When did that start? I thought they just flipped a coin each possession When did that start? Well, the beginning of each game, actually. (neat thing about football: the player who plays the first offensive series, that guy gets called "the starter")
  13. The sad thing is, I'm sure this is just scratching the surface. Imagine all of the dirty football and basketball players that got paid and got away with it. What an embarrassment for the B1G.

  15. Heathens on my facebook feed are denouncing Reyes as "unAmerican" and claiming he "doesnt deserve" the title now.
  16. I agree with your opinion on Bartman; he did what most anyone would have done. But I'm curious, why don't you have the same feeling in regards to Alou? I'd be willing to argue that 99.9% of left fielders in that same situation would have reacted similarly, too. I'm sympathetic pretty much all around: If I were Bartman, I could see myself doing what he did. If I were Alou, I could see myself screaming like he did. If I were an over-served fan, I could see myself chanting "[expletive]". The heathens that threw beer and threats, they are the worst.
  17. Ok, so my point was that the Cubs drafted a guy who they thought could be a good player, and I think you are reading too much into it. I doubt Wilken and scouts sat around a table and said, "let's get Figgins-type players in our system, this guy DeVoss fits that bill, draft him!" anymore than they said the same about Fielder/Vogelbach-type athletes.
  18. I never said Joe knew what Bolden wanted, just that his dad wanted a transfer 24 hours after his son didn't play in a bowl loss. A scholarship is binding for 1 year, Rob fulfilled half of that. Joe believes in contracts. I'm willing to bet Joe has never let a kid out of a scholarship halfway through year 1, unless there were extenuating circumstances. Nor should he. If Rob and his dad wanted to transfer after the Spring semester, they were free to. They didn't, so I think it's safe to say the first request had some emotion involved with it. Also, "even if the kid was saying the exact opposite" is such B.S., considering he never said a word publicly. This was a prime case of Little League Dad being too involved.
  19. i swear i thought rob boldin left school. He requested a transfer but Paterno denied it nice guy, that one Getting in on this late, but Rob Bolden and his father requested a transfer after the bowl game and before the Spring semester started. Since scholarships are binding for 1 full year and he was only in school for 1 semester, a transfer request because of playing time is absurd. Why would Joe be a "nice guy" and allow it, giving him 1 usable QB for all of Spring, Summer, and into the 2011 season? The Bolden's were trying to transfer based on emotion, Joe knew that, and everything worked out. For now.
  20. I thought when they drafted Baez they kind of hinted they want to introduce Hanley Ramirez type athletes/players into the system. I thought when they drafted Vogelbach they kind of hinted they want to introduce Fielder type athletes/players into the system. I thought when they drafted Sczuzr they kind of hinted they want to introduce Pierre type athletes/players into the system. I thought when they drafted Maples they kind of hinted they want to introduce Halladay type athletes/players into the system. etc. That was useful and necessary. Juan Pierre? My point being, DeVoss was 1 pick out of dozens. Just because he fits a certain mold doesn't mean the organization is looking for that specific type of player across the board. And of course the Pierre bit was a joke (I can admit it, why can't you Keith?).

  22. Then we wouldn't want to hire them as GM now would we? I guess not. If freidman is happy in Tampa, and Epstein and Cashman already have all of the money and resources at their disposal, what would it take to get any of these guys to come to the Cubs? More money, easier division, new challenge.
  23. What's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy [expletive] on the wall and the mozzarella sticks? Shenanigan's?
  24. Probably dropped PSU because they got the inside scoop that McGloin will be under center..
