  1. Oh, now I'm jealous. Spent quite a bit of time up there. Beautiful area. That indian casino (Lac Vieux Desert?) allowed me to play when I was under 21 too. 8-)
  2. No doubt rockin the Fabulous J-Marqe Jersey tonight...I taught my 3 year old son this morning when people ask him what he's going to do today to respond "Sweep!" Outstanding.
  3. 4-0 at Busch this year when I'm there. Keep it perfect, J-Marq.
  4. Now please suck come Friday. What both of you said.
  5. Just got home from the game. All I have to say is, that's how you're supposed to handle a bottom-feeding team. Quick, efficient, business-like beating. Let's get the sweep tomorrow!!!!!!!!
  6. It's a final. 10-2 Rox.
  7. I'm about there with Lilly. He should be well rested, and should tie up Duncan and Edmonds well tonight. With Rolen's lame shoulder, their lineup gets to be pretty one-dimensional. Geeked again today. Hard to focus on getting some work done. Can't wait to head over to the park, by way of the bar, in a few hours! Go Cubs Go!
  8. He just had a day off Monday. Yeah give him off Friday against Cincy. Especially with Lee and Sori not getting real good hacks right now, we need A-Ram in there.
  9. What was the background? Busch Stadium? Um, wasn't it on radio?
  10. Pittsburgh's radio and TV guys are just plain awful. Dead-air, moronic comments, stories that have no relevance, etc. I listen to music while watching those games. Agreed. The new Brewers guys are awful too. I didn't know Buck has publicly admitted an anti-Cub bias. I recall watching a few Saturday FOX games last year and thinking he was going out of his way to be impartial, so much so that it was obvious. But for the local broadcast here, they are just giving the local idiots what they want. They hang on to this idea that Z will fizzle and they can dance around him, laughing all the way. Nevermind that he just shut their team down. Again.
  11. I swapped Cano for Phillips straight up about six weeks ago. Obviously very happy with that deal. We keep four each year, and I think Phillips might creep up into that top four. Amazing, but he's been that good.
  12. Was at the game so didn't hear their comments. It's okay to do that once, but twice? Especially for a catcher, that's bad. On a somewhat separate note, they had Al on 1380 this morning here. Man was he ever cranky. He basically said this year is over, sell off whatever you can get value for and look a few years ahead. Also expressed doubt that TLR would be back next season.
  13. Buck is the local play-by-play guy for the Cardinals. Much like Chip did when with the Cubs, Buck does all Cardinals games except Saturday when he does the Fox national game. That's actually not the case anymore. Buck only does about 10 local Cards broadcasts a year. The rest of the time Dan McLaughlin does PBP with Hrabosky. Other than his FOX commitments, not sure what else Buck does all season.
  14. Oh yeah you have to make them pay. A guy wrote an article for Slate not too long ago about how he gorged himself in the AYCE pavilion at Dodger Stadium and puked in the parking lot. So, I mean, that's something to shoot for.
  15. i cant' get excited. it's more fun to play st. louis when the act of defeating them will most greatly upset cardinal nation. this year, it's just kicking them while they're down (not that there is anything wrong with that) I'm not buying that for two reasons. First, beating the Cards will never get old. And second, there are many here who still think the Cards have a shot if they have a good week against the Cubs and Brewers. So burying them with a sweep would be fantastic. I can hardly sit still. Can't wait to head over to the park.
  16. I saw a lot of Cubs fans checking in yesterday at the Millenium next to my office. Seen a few more today. Hopefully we'll have a good (and loud) showing tonight.
  17. I'll probably be at Carmine's tomorrow, NE corner of 4th and Walnut. Otherwise, I guess tons of folks will be at Shannon's, Hrabosky's and Paddy-O's.
  18. I broke down in the middle of last week's winning streak euphoria and procured tix for all three games. They better not get swept now! Oddly, I'll then be there on Saturday, rooting on the Cards against the Brewers. :? Breaking out the Marquis jersey shirt Thurs night? Oh hell yeah...2nd row of the LF Bleachers, on Wednesday night...if he's out there it'd be cool as hell if I could get him to sign it...Thursday I'm up stairs and we're bringing the kids...2 boys, under the age of 3....that ought to be fun...the older one will watch but I'm thinking Mom will have to take them to the kids area in the 3rd or 4th. I've really thought hard about picking up a ticket for tomorrow too...I want to see Z pitch. I don't know if you'll know the answer to this, but I don't... I'm going to be down around the ballpark around lunch tomorrow, what are the chances of me walking up to the box office and picking up a pair of tickets? Do the Cards release more tickets the day of the game? It's worth a shot, but unlikely. The Cards have this thing called "First Pitch," which is a system for unloading extra tickets returned from various sources. I'm sure you can find out about it on the team's website. To the other folks who'll be there, I'll be in 248 (Redbird Club) tomorrow and Weds in field box down the third-base side. Will be rocking the Santo jersey for those games. Then Thurs, we'll be third row just past the Cards dugout. Marquis jersey shirt gets the call that night. He better not piss himself.

  20. Looking good for us. means we will be shut out You're probably right, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we crush Wells. 10-2 Cubs is maroth a lefty? if so then that is really [expletive] to bump him for kip wells cuz we all know the cubs problems against Left handed starters this season....Here's hopin the return of DLee starts another nice stretch of wins after *gasp* losing two in a row for the first time in a month Maroth has an 8.10 ERA for St. Louis Appears the Cards are skipping Maroth. Their website, and Len said this yesterday during the game as well, shows Wells, Wainwright and then Looper for the series.
  21. Yeah, all that pissing and moaning I did in April and May about regretting that Charter got EI cuz I didn't want to watch anyway? Nevermind. Watched nearly every pitch of the MIL game. And I concur with the poster who talked about their homer announcers. Seems to me very recently they had that young group of guys that was very funny, entertaining, etc. Now they seem to have their very own old coot color guy, a la Al Hrabosky. Terrible.
  22. I'm going to buy a 12er of Old Style tonight to celebrate! Can't wait until they get here next week to feast on Wells and Maroth.
  23. God I hope the D-bags bring their suckiness south with them.
  24. That doesn't make sense. If they knew the deal would be finished by tonight, they wouldn't be starting Gwynn. Do you think he knows about this? Hard to think he wouldn't find out.
