  1. It took until this season for Brenly to win me over, but I'll agree that you can't fault the guy for taking a managing job. Even if it is with the Reds. My vote is for Stoney. He could easily do his segments with 670 from the road, and change the schedule around a bit to accomodate the games. I guess the problem might be a familiar one though. Now he is free to unload on whoever he sees fit. If a Cubs employee again, he certainly would have to temper that. So much so that it might kill his usefulness as a radio analyst. But I still want him back in the booth.
  2. Last night during the MASN telecast of the game they said 20 different starters. Then they said, "not 20 total pitchers, but 20 starters!" Knew that couldn't be correct. For all the horror of 2006, did the Cubs even start half that many last year?
  3. I think we win this one as well. Bush is there to be had. Not that Marquis isn't. But I just have this feeling that no matter what happens today, yesterday killed any momentum the Cubs might have gotten from this series. Friday was crushing for the Brewers, but they responded like a division-winning club should. By kicking our teeth in. So no matter what happens today, I think the Brewers have shown more than the Cubs.
  4. Left work early after hearing game on 'net. Thank God I Tivo'd the game. I probably watched the homer 25 times. Haven't seen the fans crazy like that since Barrett's grand slam last April against the Cards. Just. Perfectly. Awesome. Now let's go out tomorrow and kick 'em in the junk while they're down!
  5. Awesome I probably didn't describe it as well as I could have. The whole process of dropping my headphones to the floor and yelling to the entire office was just all emotions, one of those things that I didn't have time to think about, I just did it. Myself and the other Cub fan in the office were huddled around my computer and pretty much had a similar uncontrollable outburst.
  6. Sounds like the Cubs took a great plate approach there in the 1st. Bleep.
  7. Definitely excited for this one. Snap 'em off Rich!
  8. Can't handle much more drama these days. It's way too early in the season for this crap, esp. if we're going to be in a pennant race. Just nice and easy, Carlos.
  9. They need to hurry up and get this one official. Radar looks bad to the west.
  10. Bleep. Have dinner reservation to get to. Hopefully when I get back to the computer Reds will have been right.
  11. Well, 670 is going to the effing Sox pregame now. Still no confirmation. And I still think that if the deal was done all the reporters at the park would know about it.
  12. They already did that part hours ago. Petrick is probably already in Chicago ready to pitch. If the Jones trade hadn't gone through, they would have sent somebody down instead. It sounded earlier like Dempster was going on the DL to make room for Petrick.
  13. I'm sorry Reds, I have to be the last holdout here. I'll still give you credit if you're right, but this still doesn't make sense. Game time is in two hours. If JJ has been traded, he won't be in the clubhouse. Everyone will know. But that's not being reported. To the contrary, Rogers just said a few minutes ago that Jones was at the park and had not been notified of any deal. So what gives?
  14. I got the impression 670 was just reporting it because they knew of all the rumors flying out there. Just my feeling. But if they are at Wrigley and can't get confirmation, and JJ is still there, probably in uni by now, there ain't no trade!
  15. Jesse is at Wrigley, live on 670 now. Mentioned rumor, said Cubs would take on "most of salary," then said Jones has not been told of trade, as of a "few minutes ago."
  16. See, back already. Sad. Chicagosports.com is running the Sun-Sentinel story now.
  17. you'll be back. Or I might not even be able to leave.
  18. Alright, done with this thread. Calling B.S. one more time. Thanks for wasting my afternoon.
  19. That seems a bit more credible. At least a real reporter with a real editor putting this out there.
  20. I wish Boers would just ask Bowen if Jacque is sitting there in the clubhouse, practicing his "fall rounding third base" move.
  21. anyone listening to Fat Hank? I've been listening for about 20-25 minutes.... no mention at all, but all they've been doing is playing commercials and talking about the Heat for some reason. Well then that confirms it for me. This all started here, someone else made something up about hearing Hank talk about it, and the rest just spun from there. I do not want to be so skeptical. But there is nothing to suggest this is happening. If Jacque were not in the locker room right now at Wrigley, we would know it. Simple as that.
  22. That should say: I read this on the Marlins (or Even NSBB) message board. +1 All these second-rate message boards and rumor sites are one big echo chamber right now. All thanks to Reds44. Well done!
  23. The BS detector is off the chart right now. Agreed. Again, Ofman just talked about how Jones is supposed to be traded soon, but that Dempster may go on DL and give Jim more time. But then he mentioned Petrick being called up. :?
