  1. I can't believe I've stayed late at work just to listen to this crap online. I'm outtie.
  2. Yeah I miss Stoney. Last year I would watch random games on ESPN only because he was doing the color. MLB Gameday Audio makes my afternoons in the office very enjoyable, listening to Pat do his thing.
  3. I talked to another American around the same time last night who told me that "On Demand" was not negotiating with Charter in good faith but that they were still hopeful an agreement could be reached. I'm choosing to believe the guy you talked to.
  4. You could mean one of two things here. Is it that you hold Santo in high regard and you wonder if Hughes can keep up with him? Or that you hold Santo in low regard and wonder if Hughes stoops to his level? I think he is a great listen. He plays well off Ron without taking advantage of any number of opportunities to make fun of him in a mean-spirited way. Santo is just sort of there to moan and groan and yell and be the fan favorite.
  5. Seriously, what is wrong with booing the umps? They are pros. When they blow a call, they should hear about it. And I don't buy that Pollyanna "don't boo your own players" crap. I hear way too much of that from the Best Fans in Baseball (yeah, okay) here in St. Louis. You play poorly, you don't hustle, you choke in a big spot, you deserve to get booed.
  6. For anyone watching, was that plunking a venting? I mean, was it on purpose?
  7. At least THE RIOT is getting in there. It's a bit early for A-Ram's issues, though at least it's not the hammy again.
  8. What a crock. Charter is some operation. I just talked to some guy whose name I could not understand. He said they are still negotiating and that it "looks promising." Whatever that means. This is so aggravating.
  9. This guy was obviously not an English speaker. Cracks me up when I get telecalls, usually from my cc company, since they aren't subject to the no-call list laws. The dude is obviously in Delhi RIGHT NOW, but he says, "Hello Nicholas, my name is Mark Stephens with Bank of..." Yeah, you're name is Mark Stephens and mine is Geraldo Rivera.
  10. So if the game is snowed out can we skip Miller and Marquis this time around?
  11. Yeah that isn't terribly encouraging. CG, as you know, all the games are showing up on individual channels on the guide, but it says "subscription package." The way the bums are playing, maybe this is a blessing.
  12. We can hope. I know it's early, but this is same old, same old. I'm not believing a word about the new attitude or Lou's effect. They are still making late comebacks, only to have the 'pen blow it. Stupid errors, baserunning mistakes. Blah. P.S. Nice double play. 8-)
  13. This is the Marquis we expected. Or should have. Not watching on TV, but pay attention how he reacts to L-Roth if he goes out to the mound.
  14. I've been hearing this a lot. If we were to win the division, it wouldn't make it feel any worse knowing that we beat out a Carp-less Cardinal team. I don't wish injury on anyone either, but I'm glad he's out and I hope it's for the season because it hurts a division rival and helps the Cubs. Simple as that.
  15. I just managed to get a very knowledgable guy on the phone. He told me that negotiations are not finalized, and that MLB is trying to do what "NFL Network was trying to do to us." We here in St. Louis know how that worked out. He also said they thought they had an agreement yesterday, but that they are still not able to take orders. Lastly, he put me on some list to receive an autocall to my home number once they are able to take orders. That's the first I've heard of that. He said if I don't hear anything by Thursday or Friday, to call back to get an update. So, basically, we've made no progress here.
  16. I was just told by a Charter rep that they just got an "e-mail flash" through their system that they had reached an agreement with InDemand and that Extra Innings would start on Charter tomorrow. He said they would start taking orders tomorrow as well.
  17. Just gave it another shot with Charter via phone. Another idiot. Started by saying "we are not carrying Extra Innings because Directv signed an exclusive contract." Then I hung up. The incompetence is startling.
  18. Wow, that's pretty steep. Basically 30 bucks a month. I'll still pay it though, assuming it's an option. I went through the schedule and figured out that WITHOUT Extra Innings, I would get about 85-90 games. That includes WGN games, national TV and the Cards games that will be on FSM here. So I figure for the remaining 70 games, it's about $2 per, maybe a bit more. I have no problem with the price. Oh, and the InDemand website says the free preview is running now until the 15th.
  19. I think the "early bird" price is $160, which they will spread out over four months. But again, other than the channel guide, I have no confirmation that Charter is offering the package. Can't get a straight answer on the phone.
  20. Well as of this morning, Charter here in St. Louis now shows channels 875-888 as MLB Extra Innings/NHL Center Ice, and the channel guide shows games for tonight. We will see.
  21. That's happy news man. But slightly tempered by my prior experiences with Charter people not having a clue and giving downright false information. Will be checking the channel guide again later tonight. For now, all the channels are still set up for Center Ice. Also, as a side note, I complained bitterly to Charter last year that they didn't have enough channels set aside, and during the time that CI and EI overlap, they cut games from both. They seem to have solved that problem by adding four more channels for the sports packages.
  22. http://www.bizofbaseball.com is making it sound like DISH Network people might be screwed the worst of anyone in all this.
  23. one of my best friends works in broadband sales. i haven't had a chance to talk to him about this yet. he might know. Thanks. Any solid info would be appreciated. Still hopeful.
  24. The latest from Charter here in St. Louis is...nothing. I just got another guy on the phone who had no idea what is going on. This is unbelievably bad customer service and communication within the company. They know we're going to be calling, but do nothing to update their point people on the facts. I didn't even feel it was worth it to threaten this guy with switching. I'm sure he was sincere that he knew nothing. It wasn't his fault. Still hacks me off though.
