  1. Yikes. Glass half full. Glass half full. It'll be all the better when we come back and win.
  2. Listening to Cubs game on radio, hearing fireworks they set off for HR outside my office window. God hates me.
  3. I love hearing Ronnie hit his cough button, and you can still hear his screaming!
  4. 10PM CT is fine with me. Cubs play Cards here that day, but I'll be home long before 10pm. I hope.
  5. Is there room for another? I assume it's H2H? EDIT: I now see where you said you needed at least one more. I'll go ahead and sign up. If you need to kick me out to keep an even number, that's fine.
  6. Just heard a throwaway comment on 670 about E-Patt being late to the game yesterday and not being at the ballpark as of 4:40pm. I'm wondering if they meant today. Didn't E-Patt have a double in the game yesterday?
  7. This is jibberish. Seems like Hendry and McDonough told him a bunch of stuff to say, and it's coming out in scattershot order.
  8. I have never had a problem with booing. Putting up with the fans is part of the occupation and part of earning their inflated salaries. I was glad the fans booed yesterday, because they did what I would have done. I was sitting in front of the TV cursing that SOB. I love him, but you gotta have better than that. And this wasn't just about missing his spots. It was being an immature brat and playing stupid baseball.
  9. Jacque seems to feed off the fans not liking him, even if we have (mostly) come around. Maybe the same thing will happen with Z. When I first saw it today, I thought he was in a way apologizing. That nobody with the team coached him before the media got to him is startling. He could have very easily explained it away as how I and many others first perceived it. Oh well. Fact is, he still has a turn in five days, and we still need him.
  10. I'm worried about this series. But Z is due. We'll take this one.
  11. If that's what he's used for...I'll cope. I have a wedding to go that day, which will cause me to miss both games of that DH. And to think all this time I've been complaining about that. If he starts the night game, it'll only be in the 5th when we leave the reception around 11pm.
  12. This thread reminds me of the Cards Talk thread the other day discussing, in earnest, whether Yadier Molina will be a HOFer.
  13. That sounds familiar. I began brainwashing..eh..."training" my kids at birth...My wife was born and raised here...but she's to the point where she'd rather the Cubs win because she knows I'm easier to live with when they do. My wonderfully patient gal is from the Waukegan/Zion area like myself, and her Dad is a big Cubs fan, so she gets it. To an extent. I still had to remind her today though to please humor my completely bipolar, baseball-induced mania/paranoia/depression over the next 30 (and hopefully more) days. As for the office, if we lose this thing to the Cardinals, I will probably punch someone.
  14. It's huge, but I'm really down to a point now where every game is the biggest game of the year. Last night was by far the most nervous I've been watching a game all season, and I know it's only going to get worse.

    Bob Uecker

I agree, but I don't think having Uek sing the stretch is same thing as say having Mike Krukow sing the stretch. Uek transcends the booth and is a beloved personality well beyond it, particulalry to people who grew up during the 80's and feel that Major League is one of the three greatest sports movies ever made (like me). Agreed. But then, I saw the boos as directed toward the Brewers, through Uecker. As we all know, the mood at Wrigley changes from "beer garden" to really intense on the rare occasion that there are meaningful late-season games. I had no problem with it.
  16. Mmmmm, dessert. Heading out there tonight, hope to catch the game tomorrow. Just win, you sadsack clowns.
  17. Post of the day. Gotta win three of four.
  18. For the love of God, guys, please. I'm begging you not to lose this series. I may have to pack up and move. Not that I don't want to...
  19. WTF? To those with the benefit of a TV, was that going to be a hit?
  20. Trib article says Floyd's Dad got to see him play one last time on June 29. Wasn't that the day A-Ram hit the walk-off to beat Milwaukee? I'd love for my last game to be that great.
  21. Effing Lidge sucks. Back to back HRs to Braun and Fielder with 2 outs in 9th. 7-4 Brewers.
  22. 670 is saying Pods is in the Sox lineup tonight. Not that a trade was expected right away, but it may reflect that Kenny isn't about to unload him. Or maybe he is showcasing him one more day. I'm not on board with this move. BOOOO Hendry.
  23. Apparently either today or tomorrow. http://deadspin.com/sports/forgive-us-as-we-weep-sweet-tears-of-hope/ankiel-gets-the-call-287760.php Gotta give the guy credit for persevering and making it all the way back.
  24. Cubs.com doesn't have winners listed for anything past Monday. I wonder if they are using their complete editorial control over the voting to make a decision on this one.
  25. What's the problem with that? I don't recall getting fleeced by the A's. The Cubs haven't. But I think the Cards would prefer to have Dan Haren and Daric Barton back for Mulder.
