  1. Right. It won't be insane like it was for the MNF game two years ago, but people will probably get face value or slightly more. I think it was last year or the year before tickets were being left in car windshields downtown. No joke. I got 8 tickets together in the upper tank for $65 each. Not great, but we have 8 together, so that made it a bit tougher. Staying in the Hilton next to Busch Stadium this weekend. Let's hope the Bears can win. If you see a guy in a white Rex Grossman jersey, it's probably me. (I got it for $20 after he broke his ankle in the preseason game against the Rams in 2005 if that makes it more acceptable :D ) I'll be in the navy Grossman jersey. Unfortunately. Don't know where my seats are yet.
  2. Yeah, that's true for some of the games, but probably not for this one. What are you disagreeing with? The ticket availability and price? Or the fact the dome sucks to watch football? I'm pretty sure he's saying the giving away of tickets won't be as rampant this week because of so many Bears fans being around to buy them. And that place isn't terrible to watch the game when the Rams are doing well and people are excited. I'll be right next to the Bears tunnel for the game by the way. Football should be played on God's green grass under His blue sky. It's stupid for places like St. Louis and Indianapolis to have domes. (Arizona is the only team that should be playing in a dome because of 100 degree temps in September and October.) I totally agree with you, and you probably know this, but it was the only way St. Louis was going to get a team. They needed a new convention center downtown, so the funding got wrapped into that. The money just isn't there to support spending $500M on a new, football-only stadium. And I'll tell you this: if the stadium was outdoors, attendance would plummet. Half the crowds at Rams games are bluehairs. They get mad at you if you stand up and cheer. It's like the expensive seats at Cardinal games. Plus, there's no history with this franchise and really no emotional connection, aside from their flash-in-the-pan a few years ago. If people here had to sit out in the cold, they wouldn't go.

  4. Shootouts are a lot more palatable when we win them. Funny. I'd like to know why Sharp and Kane only had 1-2 shifts each in the 2nd. Kuc and Ziehm completely breezed over it in their gamers. I heard Eddie say on the air that he thought it was Q punishing them for taking bad penalties. I'd like to know if that's the case.
  5. Yeah, that's true for some of the games, but probably not for this one. What are you disagreeing with? The ticket availability and price? Or the fact the dome sucks to watch football? I'm sorry, I meant that I doubt you'll be able to get a $10 or $20 ticket right at gametime. Demand will be a bit higher than that. I totally agree that the dome is an awful place to watch football. Even when it gets loud, it feels artificial.
  6. I think it's pretty clear right now that Huet shouldn't play until the second game of the back-to-back next weekend. I doubt he'll sit that long, but he should. The OT was a mess. Really, from the 5:00 mark of the 3rd I was just sort of holding my breath and hoping that the Hawks would be able to hold on and get a point. They didn't look particularly coordinated at all. Very choppy, had trouble putting passes together. But they got the win. Win tomorrow night and we can start dreaming of having a great trip!
  7. It's amazing how well the game will flow when the refs stop making stupid penalty calls every 30 seconds. Great save by Khabi there.
  8. All that PP time, they were bound to score.
  9. Seriously, do they not call embellisment anymore? That was ridiculous.
  10. Great shift by Buff and Bolland to draw a penalty. Buff needs to cut down on the stick-handling like he's Toews, but otherwise, great work.
  11. Sharp with a great play! Havlat out there again. He's having a great game. If the Hawks get a bit more of a lead this one could turn into a brawl.
  12. Great follow up by Versteeg! Jovo better be really hurt to stay down while a goal is getting scored on his team.
  13. Yeah, that's true for some of the games, but probably not for this one.
  14. First period is cruising right by. Good pace to the game. Won't be long before Eager and McGrattin throw down.
  15. Last week when I found out I was gonna get tickets I was much more excited than I am now. Even so though, the place will be packed and I'd bet it'll be half Bear fans. So that will be neat. Giving us 8 points is kind. But Bulger might even be able to make our secondary look good (again).
  16. Grant is getting a ton of carries these days. And I'm not sure NO can keep up with GB in a shootout right now, so GB might be protecting a lead. I'd play Grant.
  17. Check out Mayers here. So ready to go he gets fooled by the fake puck drop: http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/49778
  18. I don't know. I hope I'm wrong, but I probably would have let him go and spent that money elsewhere.
  19. Perhaps I'm too optimistic, but I don't see this trip as being as bad as most years when they hit up CAL-EDM-VAN over Thanksgiving. Basically, it's two three-game trips. They'll go home after Toronto on Saturday for a few days before heading to San Jose. As Foley said the other night in his best line of the new season, "it'll give us a chance to change our underwear." Obviously, winning tonight's game against a not-so-good Phoenix team will be big.
  20. Agreed. With Burress tanking, I've got no roster dilemmas at all this week. Everything is pretty simple. Which is funny because my team is mediocre. There is just nothing I can do about it. With a starting lineup of Eli, A-Pete, Forte, Edwards, Jennings, Gates, Bironas and Bears D, I pretty much just need to roll with it. Perhaps the Bears D could be switched out, but not this week facing St. Louis.
  21. I was just gonna post that. What a moron. Reid is trying to backpedal on this for the sake of his dumbassed players: http://blogs.nfl.com/2008/11/17/reid-players-not-knowing-rules-didnt-factor-in-outcome/
  22. 16 games, but yes. This team is definitely exciting. The jury is still out on whether they are actually good. That's probably the best way to put it. It's been 15 years since watching/listening to (you know, cuz the home games weren't on TV) the Hawks was a can't-miss thing. My fiance is already tired of all the hockey on the TV. And I refuse to watch it in SD, so I'm totally hogging the HDTV (which also has the DVR).
  23. I misspoke before, it's actually a six-game trip, not seven. And on that trip the Hawks play the 11th, 13th and 14th place teams in the west and the 10th place team in the east. And, yes, San Jose (1st) and Anaheim (4th). I'll go back on saying they'll win four since it's a shorter trip than I thought. I want to see seven points on the trip though.
  24. If they can stay healthy, yeah. May be a problem for EJ and Oshie. Berglund is a big guy. He should be fine. MacDonald's fall was nasty. EJ is a sizeable man too. I don't know if that bodes well for him or badly for Berglund. Probably neither. EJ just needs to learn how to safely dismount from a golf cart.
