  1. Huet looks like he never woke up today. Giving long rebounds, failing to cover pucks in the crease, slow from post to post. Maybe he's putting too much pressure on himself with Nik playing well the last few games. Whatever the problem is, he's not playing well enough to beat a team like the Sharks.
  2. Disagree, its going to be a horrible slaughter for the Bears, starting next week when - mark my words - we fall to St. Louis. I don't think so. St. Louis is a BAD team. The Bears are a mediocre team, no question. But the Rams are absolutely terrible. Getting hammered for the second week in a row. They have totally given up.
  3. I hear you. I'm sure the calls and texts from my cheesehead relatives will start shortly. Surprised they haven't already, actually.
  4. LOL holding. Zaidman (sp?) thinks Toub is going to have Manning returning kicks the rest of the game.
  5. No, but I'm not blind enough to see that GB is still mopping them up on both sides of the ball and that is why they're losing compared to some perpectual screw job by the refs why all my teams lose rather than getting outplayed b/c they lack talent. yeah, the penalties have come at key times and have allowed them to keep drives going while ruining ours. Ugh. The Bears are playing like absolutely crap in all three phases of the game. Have the refs helped? Probably not. But they haven't been a factor.
  6. That's what Joniak just said. 9 last week. 1 so far this week.
  7. WHAAAAATTTT??? You mean, there's not some conspiracy against the Bears?
  8. We're gonna need Rodgers or Grant to make a mistake to give us a chance. I don't see either side of the ball picking up their play enough to make up this deficit.
  9. Those dastardly refs again!
  10. OOB Thanks. Also, if there is a link to a stream out there, can someone pm it to me? Thanks.
  11. Is this challenge for whether it was a reception or when he went out of bounds? Joniak not very descriptive.
  12. A team known for throwing slants is given a 5 yard cushion in the red zone. That's call bad coaching. Fire Babbich. He really needs to go. It's gotta be Babich. The alternative is that several guys, in their primes, have all declined steeply at the same time. Unlikely.
  13. No it's not. When you let the QB go 7 for 7 to start the game, you're only screwing yourself. Pretty much.
  14. Last night's game really pissed me off. As I said before the game, these are the ones the Hawks need to win on a consistent basis. They now have two losses against the Blues, albeit both in OT. They didn't get the job done, but that penalty call on Bolland in OT was atrocious. He takes a hack near the hands and McDonald goes down in a heap like he got sawed off at the knees. That was some serious embellishment. Do they still call that? Problem is that a PP in OT is killer. With just three defenders everyone can pinch in really close, which makes it far more likely a shot from the point (which is actually in the middle of the circle at that point) will go in. And that's exactly what happened.
  15. Holy beatdown! Not a classic fight, but only because it was so one-sided.
  16. Cotchery was great last night. Have him in another of my leagues. Thomas Jones and Gostkowski got my opponent off to a good start last night. Second Thursday in a row where I've been put in a 30-point hole. Need Edwards to pull through this week.
  17. I'm worried about that game, being sandwiched between two games against divisional rivals (Packers and Vikings). Rams aren't very good, but they had a stretch where they proved they can beat some decent teams, especially if they aren't focused. I think that stretch is done. A new coach bounce is not unheard of, but Haslett is a goof and that team sucks. If the Bears are any good that won't be a problem. I'm looking for Hester's first return TD in that game, on the fast track, against a subpar opponent. Unless it happens Sunday of course. Last time the Bears were here Hester ran back two. And Rex was awesome. *sigh* That game was awesome though. Monday night, Dome was electric, which it never is.
  18. No kidding. Yeah, I'll be camped in front of the tv tonight. The bummer is that the CSNC feed will be blacked out here. So I'll have to listen to the annoying John Kelly and the not-so-bad Bernie Federko call the game. Oh well. I have a [expletive] good HD stream that is .5 seconds ahead of Chicago TV if you want Pat and Eddie. I'm gonna take you up on that for the Bears game on Sunday if it's available, but tonight I think I'll watch on the TV. Thanks though.
  19. Win this game, then get a cupcake at STL next week. The Dome is gonna be majority Bears fans. Again.
  20. No kidding. Yeah, I'll be camped in front of the tv tonight. The bummer is that the CSNC feed will be blacked out here. So I'll have to listen to the annoying John Kelly and the not-so-bad Bernie Federko call the game. Oh well.
  21. We didn't win a WS for 90 years before Woody showed up. We didn't win one during his 10 years. I liked the guy and his was always a good story, but he wasn't going to put us over the top.
  22. I don't feel strongly about this either way. He's a fine bullpen arm. Sure as Howry he's better than, uh, Howry.
  23. No argument with Cotchery, but Herm Edwards has sounded like he intends to put LJ right back into the offense at full speed this week. He told the press that he thought LJ was in great shape and that all he needed was some contact, which he would get in practice. Not impressed with the NO run defense, whereas I can see Seattle firing it up at home. I'd go with LJ.
  24. i'm going to help you out. shootouts are a joke the trap is a joke the nhl is out to screw the hawks 1/3 1. I think a lot of us can agree that shootouts are a joke. 2. The trap isn't a joke, it's just stupid and frustrating to watch, but in the end whatever gets you the W. 3. Nah, only Kerry Fraser was out to get the Hawks and that was obvious. Refs were equally brutal both ways last night. Yeah, the interesting thing about the refs last night was that they went back and forth being completely terrible and one-sided. I watched the intermission reports on NESN, and after the first period the guy was going off about how bad the refs were. After the second he seemed fine with it. And it's because it was a completely 180. The third was more even but still awful. The game was very choppy at even strength because of all the penalties. I won't say the refs ruined a great game, because it was still great, but it could have been a lot better. The trap is what it is. It can be beat. I'm not going to gripe about that. They bottled up the Hawks PP pretty well because half the time the Hawks couldn't even get the puck into the zone. They love to carry the puck in deep on the PP, esp. Campbell, and they didn't adapt to the way Boston was defending them. As for the shootout, again, I don't mind it. If the game ended after OT, the Hawks would have left with one point. This way, we got to see a bit more action and the Hawks still left with one point. No big deal. I know it's frustrating. I was frustrated. But it was with the Hawks and their inability to win shootouts, not with the system itself. Tomorrow night is a big game. I mean, for November. The Hawks have an excellent San Jose team on Sunday before hitting the road. So they really need to get the two points against a Blues team that has hit the skids. They will be finishing a long, cross-country road trip. They lost last night in a squeaker at Buffalo after giving up three quickies (and Legace getting yanked). Mason was excellent in relief. I would expect him to start. So, I know it's a cliche, but these are the types of teams the Hawks need to beat if they expect to make the playoffs. Finally, as I'm clearly not into the whole brevity thing this morning, the ceremony for Pilote and Magnuson was excellent. And wasn't it nice to not have one of these ceremonies marred by the fans' unmerciless booing of a guy named Wirtz? And I thought it was the height of class for Savard to come back for the ceremony, and it was equally classy of Pat Foley to give the fans a few seconds to cheer him and of the fans to give him an ovation befitting all he has given to the franchise. Well done all around. Wish I could have been there.
