  1. Even last year when he was making more mistakes, you could see the solid play coming more and more often. Then this year he turned into a very dependable blueliner. I'm not going to go through it roster by roster, but he HAS to be the best #4 defenseman in the league. And, as someone else noted, Foley has had a boner for him for over a year.
  2. If it's like other sports, the Blackhawks matched so they have to pay him whatever the Sharks offered him and he is still a Blackhawk. He's a Blackhawk. Especially when Seabrook gets his, that's way too much money to have tied up in your top four defensemen. I don't care how good they are. So far this offseason, the most disappointing thing to me is that Campbell is still on the team.
  3. That's good news. Under his circumstances, I don't begrudge Niemi trying to get as much as he can with this contract. This is his chance -- he will probably never hold better cards than he does right now. But I still hope we can keep him at a reasonable number.
  4. Yeah, the longer this goes the more nervous I'm getting. This FO has been pretty flawless so far -- I have faith they know what they are doing. But letting Niemi go makes me very nervous. Not as much as letting Hammer go, of course, but still.
  5. "Jesse Jackson is not the EMPEROR of black people!" "My Dad said he was."
  6. The city's biggest sports icons will now be umm Grady Sizemore and Joshua Cribbs? When I saw that post, I thought Joshua Cribbs. Man that's gotta suck.
  7. Good point. If he's setting up all this suspense to sell ads for his big show tonight, why are he and his people giving away all the info early? But I think if it is a smokescreen, the only alternative is going back to Cleveland.
  8. Highlights? Starting Saturday, we can relive the whole thing! I have cleared a ton of room on my DVR for this. http://www.csnchicago.com/pages/hawks_championship_journey
  9. I hope Cowherd isn't full of [expletive] like he usually is. Although, it would be like LBJ at this point to not have the announcement in Cleveland just to throw everyone off. I agree about Boozer at this point -- what can it hurt? Don't we want him either way?
  10. He's always been adamant about separating Akron from Cleveland, though. Not that I want to divine too much meaning from a twitter bio. Everyone are divining a lot from a little right now. But I agree with you -- I'm not seeing that or him announcing at his high school (if that's even true) to mean that he's leaving.
  11. Well, I get that because it would create an absolute circus at a camp where kids are trying to work on their game. But I still think there's something about him doing it at his high school and not in Cleveland.
  12. This sounds like he's staying in Cleveland. My first thought on reading that was if he's staying, he could just announce down at the Cavs' arena or practice facility. If this is true, I think it means he's leaving.
  13. That's waaay too young to keel over & die. The man lived hard. Even if he had managed to clean himself up, that's gotta take a toll. Albom wrote a nice piece that is linked on the Tribune's site today.
  14. If Rose would rather be the leader of a decent but not great team for the next 10 years than take a supporting role and win titles, then I'm disappointed in him.
  15. RIP Probie. What a warrior. I used his model Hespeler stick in high school. I don't know if I really like the stick or if I just thought he was a badass. Which he was.
  16. Broussard was saying this morning on ESPN not to expect anything from LBJ until after his basketball camp ends on Wednesday night. Well, he said that the only decision he could likely make during that camp was that he was staying in Cleveland. Otherwise, it will be after that. Wade sounds like a few more days too. Sooner or later one of the dominoes has to fall.
  17. With the holiday and all, thought I'd sit and watch the game while doing some work today. God this team sucks. I'll check back in April.
  18. Gonna go ahead and read too much into this, but the Plain-Dealer is saying the meeting is still going on, well over two hours. EDIT: Okay now they are gone. Just under three hours.
  19. So what time was the Bulls meeting supposed to start? I admit, I haven't really been much of a Bulls fan since I moved away from home (coincidentally, in 1999), but I can't look away from all this madness.
  20. Another monster contract? I think that's a huge pipe dream. Yeah that's not happening unless he takes a Hossa/Detroit deal.
  21. We do seem to be getting a lot of the highest rated prospects from other clubs. Figures, the old man dies after he gets a [expletive] salary cap in.
  22. Yeah, no way. But MacKenzie is confirming it on TSN.
  23. Yeah that's pretty funny.
  24. Image. Conquest. Tiger's all about the "Majors" and she's one. As an aside, I highly doubt she's getting 3/4 of a billion dollars. There's simply no way Tiger has that much cash. He may be worth 1 billion on paper, but most of it is probably tied up in stock options. He'd have to liquidate and go into bankruptcy to pay out that sort of dough. You don't marry a conquest.
