  1. Holy cow, I hadn't seen the enhanced version of that graphic.
  2. So if Texas decides to "save" the B12, do they go out and shop for two new teams? If so, a north and a south? Houston? Memphis?
  3. I think if there is anything we've learned over the last few years it's that this is probably not the best place to sink $4-5M. I agree that the team isn't in "salary cap hell" as many are suggesting. They just need to be smart, and I think Bowman will be.
  4. Wow, while not scoring many goals I thought Hossa was fantastic throughout the whole of the playoffs. It will be glossed over and forgotten because they won, but the criticism of Hossa during these playoffs was preposterous. Simply an easy target because he wasn't scoring goals and the whole "curse" thing. But I assure you, anyone who was criticizing his play doesn't know the first damn thing about hockey. He was phenomenal. I thought it was really close between him and Toews for who was actually the best player throughout the playoffs. I don't disagree. Both were beasts on the forecheck and backcheck, which are so huge in the playoffs.

  6. Heard on ESPN news a little while ago that KU is saying the Mountain West won't cut it. If all goes as expected now, won't that leave the Pac-10 with 15 teams? I guess if KU can't leave K-State that is out, but I'd think the Pac-10 would want KU as the 16th team.
  7. I figured this was a pretty obvious step if you can't trade the guy. I've heard it mentioned a lot actually. And not just here. Oh yeah. I've been listening to NHL Home Ice pretty much nonstop the last two weeks, and they have referred to sending Huet down as their only option. They'll just have to hope that Crawford is a suitable backup or try to get another experienced guy to be the backup on the cheap.
  8. That post probably evens out the muff by Green, so this is a fair result.
  9. Alrighty then.
  10. Tim Howard is really good, isn't he?
  11. That looked like it hurt.
  12. I'm far from an expert, but it seems like the US is controlling the play.
  13. I watch soccer every four years. And every four years all the "we are the world" [expletive] gets on my nerves. That said, I'm excited for this one.
  14. I agree 100%. I've been saying all year that we can't expect to keep everyone. Detroit never has. The key is to shed expendable guys in exchange for draft picks and use those picks (and sign role playing FAs) wisely. This is a great opportunity to stock up on draft picks from a team like Florida. I'm glad to hear Tallon is getting a ring. He deserves the ring as much as he deserved to get fired, if that makes sense. And ironically, it would be nice of him to help us out a little with the cap situation that he created. I don't know so much about Toronto, since they are very light on draft picks. I have no doubt there will be a market for guys like Sopel and Ladd. And of course somebody will overpay for Buff. I totally agree that, much as I love him, we can let him move on. He's a very uneven player, and I'm not excited to see what his energy level will be on a nightly basis now that he has his cup. The wild card is any potential RFA offers that Hammer and/or Niemi might get. Regardless, I'm going to find it tough to get terribly worked up about any of this. The nucleus that is locked up already is better than anyone else's. That makes the Hawks a top-5 contender for the next few years. I'll take that any day of the week. And I trust the Bowmans. I think they've earned it, both this year and over the last several decades.
  15. I didn't see it yet, but I'm fine with booing him. He's worthless and his contract (though admittedly not his fault) may hamstring the team for the next few years.
  16. I think these estimates are always overdone. 2 million? It sounds good, and it's not like anyone can disprove it. I remember when it used to be said that there were 20,000 hockey fans in Chicago. How about 100 times that! I don't get home until about 1:00am tonight, but I'll be staying up to re-watch Game 6 and all of the parade [expletive] I recorded on CSN today. At least I hope it recorded.
  17. He should probably feel bad about not doing [expletive] the whole series.
  18. Pretty bummed but I'm stuck in the desert until Friday night. Would definitely take the day off and drive up. Now I can't wait for that banner to be raised in October. Rocky on WGN!
  19. Niemi didn't have any great games in the finals, but he saved our asses twice. Once after they tied it and once in the OT. Amazing saves or we would be pissing our pants about Friday night.
  20. Looks like cans of Bud Light going in there now. wtf? why? if i just won the stanley cup i'd want to drink something better out of it than [expletive] bud light. I'm sure they didn't have time to send the equipment manager to Trader Joes to get some decent [expletive].
  21. That's awesome. Why aren't they blasting the Fratellis in there? I wonder if the players hate that song.
  22. Looks like cans of Bud Light going in there now.
  23. My Dad was 8 in 1961 and he's been there all along. The Hawks were good but not quite there my whole life until 1997 when the wheels came off. It's been a rough go, but it's all good now.
  24. Yeah, stop calling him "Scott" Bowman.
  25. Adam Burish is awesome. Just said raising the Stanley Cup is way better than "kissing a hot girl."
