  1. Same here. I will be a basket case, but I will expect the same effort in a Game 7 that we got in Game 5.
  2. need a sub? Haha, actually the captain of my team was just giving me a guilt trip because multiple people are backing out this week because of the game. Normally we usually never have problems with getting people to show, we usually have too many people. If you can get here from Iowa before 7:15 I'll see what I can do :) Sounds like the captain of your team is the one who should be wearing a skirt in the newspaper.
  3. Kyle? That was me until I finally mustered the courage to get dressed and get to work. And I have a three hour flight this afternoon to AZ to calm the nerves. Was invited to dinner with some other work folks tonight. Obviously that's not happening.
  4. 14Ks. Drafted him pretty early, looking like a good move. Holy cow.
  5. Can't see the game, but are they saying he hit 103 on the gun? No way.
  6. Perhaps it doesn't matter in the end (and may be part of the point of all this), but I'm sure the % of capacity numbers are much closer.
  7. I shouldn't have gone down that road, because the Big 12 would lose a ton of TV viewers by losing St. Louis, half of KC, and Nebraska's fanbase. That's why Texas would leave. As to Mizzou v. KU football, it doesn't take much imagination to see why Mizzou is more attractive. Better past, better present, better future outlook, better fan support, there's not much in KU's favor. Relative to Nebraska, they've been pretty even in performance for about a decade now, and they've had better ranked recruiting class 2 of the last 3 years(despite of the bump Nebraska gets for being Nebraska). I guess the area where I disagree is fan support. Especially the last few years it's been about even if not favoring KU in terms of attendance, and we all know that KU is regarded as the school that "travels" better.
  8. If that happens, why wouldn't Big 12 just get TCU and someone else decent and call it a wash (Arkansas maybe)? Because a team like Texas couldn't already care less about teams like Baylor, KSU, ISU, etc. They're not interested in a more watered down conference. Wouldn't TCU and Arkansas be better than all of those teams though, at least in football? They're not better than Mizzou and Nebraska, which is why it would be watered down. EDIT: And Arkansas is a pipe dream for the Big 12 anyway. I don't get why Mizzou football is seen as some attractive thing, as compared to KU. Sure they are slightly better historically and probably now as well, but they aren't in Nebraska's league in terms of prestige or recruiting power.
  9. Of course. Okay that makes sense.
  10. +200 would be dogs The Hawks are +105 for tomorrow the Flyers -115. Hawks for the series right now would be around -350 is my guess. They were -600 after game 2. -190 after game 4 I dont post here that much but I cant freakin wait til tomorrow. Something tells me a Hawks OT winner off the stick of Hossa in the 1st overtime 3-2 final Can you explain to me how the odds work? What does it mean to be -115? How is it calculated and what is the standard bet/payoff? I've never understood that. Might be a good thing because it keeps me away from the books in Vegas, but I'd like to know. It means the Flyers are favored, and that you have to bet $115 dollars, to win $100 back if the Flyers win. Conversely, the Hawks are very slight underdogs. If you bet $100 on the Hawks and they win, you win $105. So, and I'm sorry for my ignorance, is there any reason to bet on the favorite then?
  11. Add me to the "please Jesus make this come true" group. He's an [expletive].
  12. Ever since midway through the SJ series I was positive the Hawks were gonna win it all. I wavered a little this weekend, but now I'm sure again. I sure as hell would like to see it happen tomorrow night though. I can't handle a game 7. And I'm going to be out of town for work with the strong possibility of having to fly back home Friday night. I will stay another night on my own dime rather than be on a plane for the entire game, which I would be. Please don't let it come to that Hawks.

  14. I hear ya...but to me, there should've been a Hawk close enough to swat away a short rebound anyway...or at least fight for it. I mean, by the time you yell to Niemi, and he locates the puck, it probably is too late anyway. Either Niemi had to know he missed it, or another Hawk has to be there. I think it was just a lack of experience thing...I think with his success so far, we keep forgetting that Niemi is awfully inexperienced. He earned his keep during the SJ series. Against Philly the D has let him down big time. There should have been somewhere there to help him on that play.
  15. Just for the record, there is just one puck. One puck, two pucks. It doesn't matter, I will (hopefully) have it by next week.
  16. No surprise. Laviolette's games with that were stupid. I said it during the game and I still think Leighton didn't deserve to be pulled from Game 5. It was an onslaught and the only goal he could possibly be blamed for was the one Bolland got behind him, but that's a tough bounce. Not that any of it matters. Both goalies are just stand-ins who probably aren't going to do anything spectacular. EDIT: By "both goalies" I meant Niemi and whoever starts for Philly, not Leighton and Boucher. Understood. I think all 3 goaltenders that have played in this series have just been so-so. But I also think Niemi has the best chance of putting in a great game. Hopefully he does. I had that thought after I posted that. If there is anyone who is capable of standing on his head at this point, especially in a tough environment, I think it's Niemi. I don't think he will, but he's got the best chance.

  18. Yeah, if I'm a Mizzou fan, I'd be a lot less confident than I was a few weeks ago. Nebraska seems to be the Big 12 team the Big 10 really wants. YOu're still in a heckuva better position than KU. http://www.kansascity.com/2010/06/05/1995767/four-scenarios-for-the-big-12s.html The writer has a throwaway line wondering if KU would fit in the Big East if all the [expletive] hits the fan. Leaves KU as a geographical oddity, and it hurts their football, but other than travel, it wouldn't be terrible for their basketball. It'll never happen, but thought it was worth bringing up here. Really off the wall. I don't think it's that off-the-wall. Basically, KU's options will be a rejiggered MWC of joining a picked apart Big East. The Big East would have a little more cache, but it would be the death of the football program. The MWC would be a safer geographic fit, but it might be the death of both football and hoops for KU. Neither option really makes my pants tight. My hope is that someone in Lawrence has been considering these possibilities for awhile now and has contingency plans in place. That is my hope. But with the other [expletive] going on in Lawrence right now, I'm nervous.
  19. My whole family, even the non-hockey fans, are probably rooting for the Hawks to win because it will be easy to shop for the "toughest person to shop for" come Christmas time. I will have every piece of clothing possible, I'm sure. And it will be awesome.
  20. I noticed that quite a bit all season, actually. He rarely did much celebrating after scoring a goal. I didn't actually notice it last night probably because I was dancing a jig myself. His goal celebrations against Vancouver and SJ were pretty uncharacteristic, I thought. Toews could be raising the Cup in about 48 hours...
  21. I like having Game 7 at home to fall back on. Sure the Hawks lost the two games in Philly, but I don't think there is an intimidation factor about playing there. I think after last night there is a bit of that for the Flyers coming into the UC.
  22. By the way, just came across this old favorite and I apologize to Buff for making fun of his snazzy blazer. The man knows what he's doing:
  23. Because I was there, I'd go with either that one or Hossa's GWG in that game. Probably Hossa's, actually. The crowd was ecstatic when Kane scored, of course, but Hossa's came right after that long and very tense four-minute penalty kill to start OT. It was an amazing atmosphere.
  24. Exactly. The dude can skate. You just don't see it all that often. And wasn't that a pretty goal? Was a little startled when Pat said "save by Huet."
