  1. +1 I'm going to be blissfully unaware of the Cubs game outside of an occasional check on my phone I'll do that occasional check, but only because Z is pitching and I don't look away from trainwrecks.
  2. That was the biggest surprise to me about the game the other night. I expected a boring but beautiful (for us), methodical third period to bolt down a 2-0 win. Philly's constant pressure was just too much though and the Hawks couldn't dial it back up.
  3. Hmmm...they gonna start trying to run the goalie? I get the strategy. Bumrush the goalie, get some retaliation penalties on the Hawks, etc. But that whole "50 years" business is nonsense. Like that adds any extra pressure to a 26-year old kid from Finland who had probably never even been to Chicago until about a year ago. I think they gave him a crack of doubt on Saturday night when the dinged him for five goals. And it did them no good. I know it's all talk and a product of constant news conferences, it just gets tiring. I don't think it's nonsense. I think it's a desperate strategy from a coach who wants the media to help him win. He's telling them to start asking Niemi about the pressure of history. In response to which he will mumble some answer in broken English about "staying focused" and "playing hard" like he always does. I love the guy, but it doesn't seem like he listens to or understands any of the questions anyway.

  5. I hope nobody bothers with nonsense like that. Come on, the high road gets boring.
  6. Not just calling you out, but everyone with that line of thinking. I've heard too much of that in the last 24 hours. In a perfect world, the Hawks sweep the Flyers and win it on Friday. We're all Cubs fans here. Do I really need to say anything else? But in a perfect world, losing is not an option. They will win in this perfect world and kujay thinks it would be perfect to win at home. In a perfect world, the Hawks play Game 4 at home. Right. By no means am I rooting for the Hawks to lose one of these games so they can win it at home. That's insane. Been listening to a lot of NHL Home Ice the last few days, the 24/7 hockey talk station on XM. They have been wearing out this whole deal with Pronger grabbing the puck. I hope if we get an EN to seal the win tonight whoever scores it grabs the puck and gives it to Pronger. What a douche.
  7. ^Right. He's doing this to make everything think (probably including his teammates) that he has the situation under control and knows exactly what he's doing. Give me a break. That said, he's playing great and saved a couple goals. When they lose, people will forget that and just focus on all this stupid [expletive].
  8. I'm having a hard time believing the last two rounds have gone so smoothly. In a perfect world they win it at home on Sunday night, but I'll take the cup however/whenever it comes. The Hawks are due for a blowout against this team. Yes, Philly had a good third period yesterday. But it's because the Hawks were playing a prevent defense and Philly threw everything they had at them. And again, it wasn't enough. Get this team on the road, loosen things up a little and I think we get a 4-1 or 5-1 win in one of the next two games. Toews and Kane won't be kept down much longer.
  9. Gonna miss tomorrow's game while flying on my way for a vacation. But having a 2-0 lead in the series makes it a lot easier to take. If they win, it's all gravy and I will be finding a beach-side bar to watch the clincher on Friday night. If not, it's not the end of the world. So, uh, does anyone know any good sports bars near the water in Sarasota?
  10. Watching the replay of that penalty call on Sharp when Philly scored, that call was so bogus. Flyers gotta realize they really can't keep up with this team no matter what type of game they play. But I think they'll take their chances playing the game they played tonight and just hope they get the bounces.
  11. Worst thing is, the officiating is probably only going to get worse. The NHL dreads a sweep.
  12. Time to flip over to CSNC. I can't believe it. Just two more wins. And they played so crappy.
  13. Holy [expletive], make it two.
  14. NOOOOOOO SHARP! I think we got it though...oh [expletive].
  15. Come on, you can do better than icing the puck. And now they have the extra man.
  16. Sopel just got walked. Wow. Two minutes. Breathing is good.
  17. Caught a break there. He never had it.
  18. Urgency. Hawks haven't really had any this whole game.
  19. Again, interference must not be a penalty anymore.
  20. Versteeg has been substandard tonight.
  21. Finally getting some chances now. In other news, the Geico hockey commercial with Mike Green makes me laugh.
  22. This is not what we usually see when this team has a lead in the third. The forwards aren't supporting in the defensive zone.
  23. Those are just the sort of bounces they can get if they are allowed to stay close. Please score another one soon. My heart will thank you.
