  1. All kinds of Hawk talk here, including the Sharks going after our RFAs. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/John-Jaeckel/Rumors-Sharks-To-Push-For-Niemi-Hjalmarsson/128/28914
  2. ^Perhaps just another week of this.
  3. Saturday in October? Boo Tailgating in the morning, watch your Hawkeyes at 11, then drink your way til 7PM, Hawks raise the banner! I just hope it doesn't conflict with a Cubs playoff game. ha ha ha HA. Let me stop laughing and get up off the floor. This is awesome in so many ways. I will be doing everything I can to get there.
  4. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=325320 Sounds to me like they are trying to raise the price for Sharp. Playing hard to get. But if this is legit, I'd be fine if the only guys we lost were Ladd, Steeg and Buff. There's no way that can be all they lose. The math just doesn't work. Yeah, I was thinking of Campbell as gone. :beg: And I totally agree with NUN about Kaberle -- he's not that much of a drop off from Campbell. That would be a great deal if they could pull it off.

  6. I guess their point is you get a servicable and cheaper D player back, as well as a forward with upside and also cheaper. There are 2 ways you can look at what the Hawks have to do, you can trade for slightly lesser skilled veterans for your younger and more skilled players, of you can try to use this situation to stockpile prospects draft picks and younger players that haven't reached their potential yet. I think the Hawks are looking more of the later. I just don't want to be trading $7 million defensemen for worse $5 million defensemen, or $4 million forwards for worse $3 million forwards. I want super-cheap young players or nothing at all. Yeah this is tempting though because Kaberle is in the last year of his deal. So you get him, and don't forget he is pretty good, and then after this year you have him gone and you don't have to pay Campbell for the next five [expletive] years. Which I think we all agree is a good thing. Losing Sharp is gonna hurt no matter how it happens. But a trade like this is one way to stay real competitive and solve a long-term contract problem.
  7. I can't even imagine how tough these greens are. I see that 92-yard hole and think that ain't so bad -- I play those at the pitch and putt. But those greens... I suppose this weekend showed Tiger is working his way back but isn't quite there. Just no consistency.
  8. I ordered the package about an hour after they won on the 9th and got the shirt, hat and puck this past Wednesday (the 16th) and yeah, I assumed the DVD would take awhile. I thought a week was a pretty solid amount of time to wait. I figured it would be longer, especially since NHL.com first said everything was on backorder.
  9. I see Nashville getting rid of very good players, but I know they will still manage to be a giant pain in the ass next year.
  10. Wonder if they got some newstand copies here in Columbia. I'll have to check it out. Well I don't know what they have on the newsstands. I have a subscription. I was really surprised.
  11. I'd like to see that. Couldn't get ESPN3 to work in office.
  12. Would you prefer the bow/courtsey? I'd prefer nothing. It's silly. Do you also dislike the Hawks raising their sticks to the fans after a home win?
  13. Blues fans are beside themselves with joy over this trade and it seems the Montreal fans are the exact opposite. But Halak really didn't do much more than Huet did two years ago. And Eller may well turn out to be a solid second or third-line forward. That all could happen -- but more likely the Blues just got themselves a steal. And yes, the NHL doesn't need it's own offseason thread separate from the Hawks so let's just combine them.
  14. What's the tiebreaker? Goal differential? Then what?
  15. Turns out St. Louis is in the area that got the Toews SI cover. Nice!
  16. Right. I'm not saying the guy shouldn't have his fun. He should nail hundreds of women this summer. Two per night. At least. But he should try to show just a little bit of class when he knows the cameras are on him.
  17. That's a close one. But hate the wave as I do, I've always felt that soccer is its only proper place. The vuvuzela, OTOH, is a damned scourge. Part of the excitement of watching a game, either live or on TV, is the reactions of the crowd, the chants, etc. Not listening to [expletive] overgrown kazoos.
  18. Boers and Bernstein were talking about this yesterday. There's nothing wrong with partying and having fun right now but it sounds like some people are a little concerned. He could probably do without the cab driver and shirtless jokes also. This is what I'm talking about, along with the nightclubs, constant mentions of trying to get laid and being shitfaced at the parade/rally. The cabbie jokes were especially bad though.
  19. I'm not familiar with that one. I'm not either, but I (think I) hope Kane does it. A lot.
  20. Kane could learn a lot right now from Toews. I don't want to spoil the kid's fun, but I'm afraid he's gonna get himself into trouble. You don't see Toews doing this stupid [expletive].
  21. well, right now KU has given the local broadcast rights to hoops games to JTV (Jayhawk TV). It's part of ESPN plus. I believe we make a lot of money off it. Yeah they show the games that nobody else picks up. And a local network picks up the JTV games. It's not a dedicated channel. I know you know that, just pointing it out for those who may not.
  22. Well that sucks. My wife got a subscription to SI for like $2 through her work, so we get it. But I rarely read it. Would have been nice to get the one with the Cup on the cover. I doubt STL is included in the zone getting it though.
  23. Westside Connection was pretty dope.
  24. The most fascinating part of the NK match will be how they spin it. I read an article that said they won't show the match live in DPRK and will only show it on tape delay if they win. Since no one has internet or cell phones, it shouldn't be that hard to do... Amazing.
  25. Yeah this.
