It was mildly disappointing. I thought there would be more highlights of the various series, important goals, and such. Like Game 5 against Nashville -- how about the whole play to win in OT? The extra were pretty nice though. I recorded that whole game when it aired on NHL Network this past weekend. I hadn't really seen it much. We were there, and that afternoon back here in St. Louis there were bad storms that knocked our satellite out. So I sat and watched that last goal about 20 times. Definitely the biggest moment of the whole run.

By the way, that championship DVD was a little underwhelming. I think I'll be checking out the bigger multi-disc set that is coming out later this fall. The main "documentary" was about 62 minutes. It was nice to relive the whole season, it just didn't seem to add much in the way of never-before-seen footage, that sort of thing. It was just a bland chronicle of events. They need to get Steve Sabol on the case.

And yes, of course, Campbell doesn't want to go anywhere. I don't blame him though -- it's not his fault that Tallon gave him a dumb contract.

And people thought the Hawks might get sanctioned by the league for Keith's or Hossa's deals. Holy [expletive].

Well it was a strange route to get there, but ESPN is saying Kovalchuk is staying in Jersey. Good. Keep him in the east. I would not have liked to deal with the Kings if he was part of that team. Oh, and I got my championship DVD today. My plans for tonight are set.

It's not often that the commentators just give up trying to make it interesting. Tirico all but said himself that he was bored.

I agree that we have a solid roster as you put it together. The problem, and it's unavoidable, is depth. There ain't none. So if we have a charmed season without injuries, everything will be fine. But if we have a Detroit-like season, this team could miss the playoffs.

well, that's gotta all but seal it that the hawks will fit under the cap and probably be able to bring back niemi. unless someone signs him to a nice offer sheet. i'd still be shocked if we could end up getting niemi at around 2 mil I don't think the arbitrator is going to triple his salary. He was making $827K, I think. I think $2M is about right, honestly.

Yes, they always have live coverage, and then more or less replay the round later in the afternoon. Okay yeah, ESPN has it. Excellent.

I plan on watching quite a bit of this tournament in the morning hours this weekend. Wait, is there any live coverage or are they holding it for the afternoon?

I have a feeling Beach is going to be one of those guys who lives on the edge -- when he's right up to it we love him, but when he slips over we curse him.

I'm fine with Vishnevskiy and Hendry as the 3rd defensive pairing. In the playoffs that third group got so little playing time anyway.

I got an e-mail from Amazon this morning telling me my DVD is backordered and will take awhile and I can cancel the order if I want. I might do that and buy the blu-ray one. -

Thanks for this post...I had just mentioned to my wife that I was gonna have to snag that. I've been waiting for it to ship as part of the bundle I bought after the last game. And it's funny to me how much Toews looks like Brandon Flowers. -
You can only trade the guys that other teams will trade for. Right, but I refuse to believe that there's zero interest for Campbell. He came off a very solid playoff run and showed his worth. Couple that in with the Islanders needing to just reach the salary floor and I have an extremely difficult time believing that there hasn't been an offer for him. i don't think campbell would approve a trade to the isles. Does he have an NTC? If so, ouch. I wouldn't want to leave if I were him, except maybe for a chance to go home and play in Ontario.

it's more than reasonable to fit beach under the cap. however, they would have to trade reasoner, which i don't understand why they haven't yet. we don't necessarily need some old, stalwart defensive center on the 4th line. it can be a young, offensive-minded center as well. You mean like John Madden? I'm actually fine with keeping Reasoner.

I forget where I read it today, but I saw somewhere that Beach is unlikely to crack the Hawks' roster this year because his cap hit would be around $1M. So, yeah, thanks [expletive].

Are there current reports that Campbell is being shopped? I just made that comment yesterday that he was still the cause of the problems (aside from Huet), but I haven't seen anything to suggest he might go. What I've seen from the disreputable rumor sites is Sharp going, if anyone.

RIP. I wish we had an owner over the last 30 years with his desire to win. -
This is a playoff team and probably a division-winning team. Of course Detroit will continue to be very solid, but do you really think that as of today, Columbus, Nashville or St. Louis is even in the same ballpark with the Hawks? They're not, and it's not close.

I wish the Hawks could have add Campbell to the Versteeg deal and gotten Kaberle. That would have left enough cash for Niemi.
