  1. FYI Iowa has already been called...........
  2. Just wanted to add that I'm pretty sure Iowa is back in the starting rotation with Marshall going tonight. Burns was sheduled for last nights game as Iowa played a DH and pitchers would've been going on 4 days rest.
  3. Just wanted to add my thoughts from what I saw today. Sean was a little amped up in the 1st two innings as pitches were up. The last three innings he was ahead of the hitters and throwing all his pitches for strikes. Sean had a nasty change today that had lots of movement and CB was looking good. His velocity in the first and second innings was 90/92 and last three was 93/94. I heard from a member of the I-Cub staff that their gun is 2mph slow so Sean was brining it pretty good. Sean had a couple of hitters that really made him work and throw lots of pitches in their at bats. He also gave up both hits on 0-2 counts which is a no-no, the homerun was a FB that was grooved down the plate and the second was about a foot outside that the hitter stuck his bat out and dropped it into RF. I also have to say that I have heard many comments about what great shape Sean is in and I have to agree. I remember watching him in the MWL and the past couple of years and what a difference it has made. He has busted his butt over the past couple of offseasons and its starting to pay dividends. I also have to say that after just watching the first two games that the I-Cubs are going to have a great pitching staff and that the bats will come around.
  4. Ascanio made it interesting in the ninth but the I-Cubs hold on to win game 1.
  5. My theory is the Cubs will get rid of two of Marquis/Dempster/Lieber by the deadline and put Marshall back in the rotation. Cubs won't go with three lefties in the rotation again.........
  6. Dope has already signed with another Club.........
  7. I have a funny feeling that after everything I have read in the past few weeks that this trade doesn't happen by opening day.......... :yahoo:
  8. Ceda's weight and size has been much mentioned. A recurring question has been whether he has a weight problem, which could harm his career. (Weight problems tend to increase, not decrease, after age 21!) What was your impression? Is he huge.... as in having a huge frame, a dominant build, and is reasonably fit? Is his weight appropriate for his frame? In other words, "huge" as in very desirably huge? Or is he "huge" as in huger than he should be, as in fat, as in undesirably huge? I saw Mr Ceda during camp and "weight is an issue".
  9. Just wanted to add that "Roberts has been pulled from todays game". They are saying it is due to his back. Let the fun begin........
  10. Really can't get to caught up in the Minor lg. rosters until the Cubs make their final cuts. There are probably seven to eight folks who could bump folks off the AAA roster and this would have a trickle down effect on the others. The AAA SP staff could have Marshall and Walrond and who knows who else. Are the Cubs going to keep Cintron which may send either Fotenot or Patterson back to AAA. Its going to be an interesting final week but I would have to say that if McGehee is sent down that he would be the starting 3b at Iowa. Also what about Cedeno as he has no options left and either has to make the team or be released. Also wanted to add that it will be real interesting to see who is released this week.
  11. Hey folks lets add this to the discussion, I was just watching MASN(Orioles channel) The "Tom Davis show". They brought up an interesting point when a caller asked about the names and mentioned Cedeno. They mentioned they heard that Cedeno could possibly be released and they could grab him without the trade. If I remember correctly Cedeno is out of options and does this change the names of the players involved.
  12. That can't be good for the 'ole trade value. This doesn't mean anything. The starters who are ahead of Gallagher are all stretching out to more innings and the bullpen guys are starting to work more on back to back days. It makes sense to send Gallagher down to get regular work. Gallagher essentially had no shot of winning a SP gig with the Cubs this season with Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Dempster, Marquis, Lieber and Marshall all ahead of him. Yes, I have to agree that this does nothing to his trade value as the "O's" have wanted him as the centerpiece of the supposed deal. Sean basically had no shot to make the roster as a SP with all the SP in front of him. I would even have to say that even if Sean had pitched lights out during camp that with the veterans signed and the contracts it would've been difficult. Sean needed to be sent back so that he can get some innings and I would've to think that hopefully the Cubs have given up the idea of using him out of the pen. I would also have to say that even though Sean said it wasn't affecting him that with all the questions and rumors about the trade that it was. I had a great conversation with Sean after he had gotten the news and it was expected and I told him to just concentrate on pitching and things you can control. actually the O's wanted Hill as the centerpiece. Is this going to be a tit-for-tat thing but please get the facts straight as the "O's" knew all along that Hill was untouchable.....

  14. Lets keep the rumors going, I was watching MASN the Anita Marks show which is the O's broadcast channel. They were saying, Marquis, Gallagher, Cedeno and Ceda in the trade. Like I stated before its amazing that names keep changing and this thread just keeps on going................ :yahoo:
  15. Yes, Sean threw in the AAA game on Fri and pitched two innings. He was scheduled to throw thurs but with Marquis/Marshall throwing they decided to let him throw at Fitch.
  16. To be honest with you don't know where this PSD got its info from but there's really nothing going on. I get a kick out of reading all the info from various websites about a trade that has been happening for over three months. Everybody has a different take about who's going to be included in the trade and to be honest still don't see the reason why. Derosa had a great season last year and I know everybody talks about him in the super-sub role but let him play everyday.
  17. The following from "inside the ivy" that C. Walker, T.Layden and M.C Novas were released from the organization. I had the pleasure of having lunch with C Walk a couple of weeks ago in Mesa and wish him all the best!!!! I know him and Sean will remain close friends....
  18. "Oh yes", thanks for clearing that all up as to why the Cubs want Roberts!!! I really was having a hard time figuring this all out..........
  19. Noticed that too... Spoke with Sean and yes the Gun was off as he was throwing Mid-90's
  20. I hate to say this but thought Lieber was going in the home game against the "D-Backs" and Marshall was throwing the game against the "A's". Thats what was posted in the clubhouse but I also saw that the Cubs website was saying Marshall also.
  21. They will probably ask for 2 more prospects plus Marquis (7 for 2 deal) because they're doing us a favor in taking Marquis. I really don't see the O's taking Marquis as they already have a veteran on the staff.
  22. Ascanio was added to the Braves 40-man last year and correct me if I am wrong still has all his options left.
  23. How long has this deal been going on??? about three months now!!!!!
  24. "Please stop the insanity"......... :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
  25. He's in camp as I watched him throw a bullpen the other day and looked good.
