  1. Yeah you give him a 5 year extension and he's the Ace of the team all the way through 2017.
  2. Rizzo got a hard single in the middle of that rally. Yeah sucks my first game the "big 3" aren't all playing. But hits by Vitters and Rizzo are nice.
  3. Watching my first Iowa game, just signed up for milb.tv. I figure Vitters, Rizzo, and Jackson would be more fun to watch than the current Cubs. Except maybe when Smardzija is pitching.
  4. Beliveau is probably the one guy that should be up. I'm not gonna bring him up in a panic, because who cares if we suck this year. This is the year to find out who we have. Which is why Theo and co are throwing things at the wall, Volstad, Stewart, Lahair, Shark, etc. . A couple of those guys will stick. I think Beliveau will too, so might as well let him get adjusted to the majors this year.
  5. Lol I love the video a couple down "How Concerned Should Bears Be About Brandon Marshall?" The annalyst says "LEGIT Superbowl Contender" in such a funny way.
  6. under dusty we bustied.
  7. #3 is probably something really big like intangibles. 3) aggressively running the bases. 3) Productive outs. Collect underpants. 3) no more bad players with naked pictures of the GM forcing him to keep said players on the team.
  8. #3 is probably something really big like intangibles. 3) aggressively running the bases.
  9. there's some actual video up at the site now, of the intrasquad game. Hope he does more, I would love to see it. http://journal.boysofspring.com/
  10. Even signing him to an extension doesn't stop the Cubs from trading him later. Whoever trades for him most likely would have wanted to sign that same extension anyway. But from what I've heard people say, Jed and Theo don't have a history of handing out NTC's, and Garza wants one. This will deffinately be interesting. I for one would love to have Garza around the next 4, maybe 5 years.
  11. ...and racist merchandise sales around Wrigley will skyrocket. I got my mortal kombat raiden hat ready.
  12. lol I love it. Maybe mostly because whitey sounds funny in my mind.
  13. Didn't he have some pissy comment last year or something because he felt he deserved to be called up at a specific time? If that's true, I think his attitude will fit right in with Larry the child.
  14. He had to have meant "in the minor leagues" because making that statement and not including paul konerko is pretty strange. Good point. Would be a bit more accurate to say they have a shortage of everything there. I took it as minor leagues, but it's still ridiculous. "Because their minor league sucks, that's my proof they might outbid the Cubs".
  15. I put the over under at Tommorow evening. brb :-"
  16. The 2012 top 10 is very pitching heavy. Go to this link then click "top 50 draft" http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2012/ MLB's rank 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 are all pitchers. Likely top available pitcher when Cubs come up is Kevin Gausmen, who is ranked #6. Possibly if teams ahead of the Cubs target offense maybe #4 pick Lance Mccullers who is also a pitcher might be available. I agree with you, especially if the Cubs can't net Turner+ for Garza. Luckily there are some good SP candidates in the top 10 this year.
  17. That was me. I've been listening to the score since I heard. I really wish I could say who it was, I don't think he was one of the well known scouts or anything but it was still interesting to hear.
  18. oh wait. I forgot to post my reaction. http://fun-gallery.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Excited-Birthday-Boy.gif
  19. In no particular order, I just love doing this because our farm is starting to look so sexy, it's amazing the job the guys have done in such a short time. Brav [expletive] O. The 2 guys they are responsible for adding, IMO are #1 and #2. Adding 2 to the TOP of your farm list, makes it a whole lot [expletive] better. Jorge Soler, of Anthony Rizzo, 1b Brett Jackson, of Javier Baez, ss Matt Szczur, of Trey McNutt, rhp Dillon Maples, rhp Junior Lake, ss Dan Vogelbach, 1b
  20. It's more of an "agreement" with the reporters and beat writers feeling pretty confident that they can report it as "done" even though it's not official. Follow?
  21. looks like it's official and word is spreading. Looks like this all broke just within the hour. HELL YES!!! http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/cubs-talk/post/Cubs-Soler-expected-to-agree-to-deal?blockID=650718&feedID=661
  22. I look at that new lefty and righty picture, with enthusiasm and sort of an unconditional attraction, since they are now Cubs. But I also think, these guys have no clue what they are getting into. :yahoo:
  23. Thinking of, what positions we need, as a general rule, is ok, I guess. I still say always go for the highest rated guy available, unless the position you desperately need is like 1 ranking below him or something. But you shouldn't think that way in this compensation. You should think only of, how low of a prospect can we get away with giving? Because those are very important pieces you want to have as trade chips when we go seeking to file a hole via trade. Say at SP, or 2B, or RF or whatever. Josh Vitters as part of a package would net you a better talent as say, someone like Steve Clevenger. I think it will be more than that ofcourse, but we should hope for the lowest return possible, not only to keep high level chips in our system. But to stick it to an owner who has been acting like a stubborn child.
  24. Why is Vitters' 1st round pick status relevent? He's a decent prospect, but I don't think anyone could possibly say he's actually lived up to what he was supposed to be. And this is coming from a guy that still has hopes of him becoming an everyday player. Well it's relevant because 1st round picks, even ones that haven't lived up to it, still hold value. Let's be honest, he's still pretty young and hasn't completely lost his value. We had to trade a 1st round pick to get another, Rizzo. Now don't get me wrong Cashner is way more proven than Vitters is, but even though he was injured during his very first start and missed most of last year, because he was a first round pick we were able to trade him for the #1 first base prospect going into 2012. Vitters is a very valuable trade chip, that could be a part of a very good trade for the Cubs. And now thanks to Selig, that could be gone.
