    Fast forward the same situation 5 innings. Why does one run later mean more than one run now? A run is a run; I'll take one in whatever inning I can get it in. Because the marlins have 5 innings to get that run back. in the 7 or 8 they have less outs. but if the Cubs didn't get the run, the Marlins would have had 5 innings to take the lead, I like 1 run lead with our pen + the conditions. True, the conditions make it more digestable. It still tastes bad but im not vomitting. I can't beleive some of you guys. We're complaining because of how we got a RUN!!? Yikes!! :lol: The discussion started before the run. YIKES! Ok not as much YIKES! So I'll add I liked that he bunted considering he was in a slump. .

    How is it stupid and how are you punishing yourself? Last I checked, tons of people all over the US go on strike and don't go to work when there is a "general consensus" among employees that something in the workplace is "unfair" or "wrong". And we are talking about individuals' livelihood for God's sake, not a baseball game. My point is, if 40k people stop going to the games, perhaps ownership will one day get the picture. It takes a collective effort, but someone has to start. That's the problem with Cub fans, they continue to go to games because of the atmosphere, down some Budweisers, join guys like Farnsworth after the game at the Cubby Bear, Hi-Tops and the like, and then boo a guy like JJ as if he was suppose to be the savior after going nearly a century without winning a WS..... NEVER going to happen. That's just the point. This is Wrigley, this is the Cubs. I don't agree with booing Jones. But what you suggest is not realistic at all.

    I'm not all of a sudden saying he's a great 1B. Remember he's only substituting, he's been good as far as just helping us win games while Lee is gone. I don't want him to become a 1B. :) I'd prefer your second scenerio. I want TWalk at 1B and JHjr at 2B. I want to give Hairston some major palying time at 2B to see if he can recapture any of his 2002-2003 offense. He said he feels great and is ready to contribute. Now's his chance to prove it. I just don't think Mabry is going to put up very good #'s at 1B. I think the combo of Walk and Jerr will give us better offense than the combo of Mabry and Walk. And we need as much "O" as we can get.

    You're onto something here. Maybe some of the more simple minded fans see him get alot of hits. Sure they are hit into play, they think, so atleast he is trying and making contact. But what they DON'T see are the statistics. Sub .300 AVG, and OBP. However it's easy for even a simple minded fan to see a strikeout. And Jones has been struggling with alot of those. I notice they don't boo as much even if he gets thrown out at 1B. I'd also like to add Jones leashing out at the fans in the papers isn't going to help is cause. . He said he's here to play as hard as he can and do his job. Maybe he should stick to that, improve his game, and the booing will stop. .

    I DON'T enjoy watching Walker at first. He is about as gracefully as Todd Hundley in the outfield. And the only reason why he looks good defensively, is because the INF is making a strong effort, to make a strong solid throws (I know, I know, they should do that with Lee at first, but they also know Lee will bail them out). INF has to be "pretty" with their throws, wait until one of those guys have to make a "hurried throw." It would be pretty. I still prefer Walker at 2B, and getting a LEGIT guy who can play 1st. And I don't prefer to get a "legit" guy. You sound like me the first couple of days after the incident, I panicked. Now I feel more comfortable. You either pay HUGE for a guy who is great offensively AND defensively or you get a guy who is great defensively but puts up HORRID numbers offensively. Walker has been pretty good at 1B and he has come off the bag a couple of times to save a bad throw. Ofcourse the throws haven't been horrible yet. But sheesh how much hating can you do on a guy who's leading the lead in offense!!?

    We expect him to be bad, he has no potential to be better. But honestly we should probably start booing Neifi every time he gets up (even if he is on fire) and not boo Jones. Maybe we can send a messege to the idoits who signed and play him too much. .

    I love Walker. Other than the bullpen acquisitions, I'd say the non-trade of Walker was our most successful offseason move. I think over time you will see a few more fielding problems, though. Removing a gold-glover has to have an effect eventually. He'll have a few, but it will be nowhere near some people were suggesting. Plus, his bat makes up for any defensive shortcomings. Even more so at 1B than 2B, because less range is needed. .

    He's doing a good job so far. Where's all these errors Ronny and Ramirez were supposed to have now that Dlee isn't there to "save" their errors? Also, now that we need offense, it's nice to see that Walker pretty much gets to play every day. When you think about it, Walker makes a good 1B. Great offense but not so much range defensively. He's the perfect backup and he's been coming through for us so far at 1B.

    Walker's doing a pretty damn good job if you ask me. . Then you can get a look at JHjr at 2b, and see what he's got.

    I agree with you mostly, sorry to go off on you like that. But I wouldn't count on Prior as a #2. This is a $100mil ballteam and we've got a couple of over producing rookies making near league minimum filling 2 of our line-up spots. We can afford a #2 in the off season. I just don't want JH going into next year relying on Wood and Prior as #2 and #3. I do not mind if they are both here if they have great years, and I want them to beleive me! I just think it's in everyone's best interest if JH atleast go out and get a good #2 guy in this next off season. I can honestly see 1 or even 2 of our young guys turning into reliable bottom of the order type SP next year. I just want to see a great reliable #2 guy to go with Zambrano (and possibly even Maddux as a #3). .

    I hope Jones knows there are some REAL cubs fans that don't ever get to go to games, hardly at all. That pull for him to battle through slumps.

    This is the second time he's complained after delivering a big home run, maybe the fans are doing something right after all. I was just about to post it, and isn'it it funny, I had just about the exact same part cut out of the article for pasting. .

    You can only claim ownership on negative thoughts. It sort of works like reverse psychology karma over the airwaves. If you turn off the game or think something negative, it helps the Cubs you see. See when I was driving and Barret got that strikeout. I told myself well they walked and the bases are loaded but I'm not letting these Cubbies get my hopes up, I'll just listen. Plus with 1 out and Murton and Jones up, doesn't put the most optimism in my head. THAT'S what did it!
