That's why I think it just wasn't realistic from a working with the White Sox ownership standpoint; logistically it just makes a lot more sense than Milwaukee. Milwaukee has the roof and a ton of Cubs fans to sell tickets, but you'd be a lock to sell more at the Cell. My guess is that if there was any talk across town it quickly evaporated due to revenue discussions.

Yes, I was mildly surprised that something I thought had just been speculated about was actually pursued by the Cubs. I know now to not used such raging hyperbole around you in the future.

I thought the idea of moving elsewhere for a season wasn't anything more than idle speculation. Damn. I'm pretty sure we heard they discussed it previously. This isn't that crazy. Who said it was "crazy?" I just didn't remember anything indicating the Cubs had actually looked into it or talked to the Brewers, that's all.

Wait, how would playing somewhere else speed up the process? I thought plenty of us here talked in favor of that in the past? Just that we wished they could have worked out a deal to play at the Cell, or even up in Milwaukee (total longshot, but hey, it came up), so that major work could be done on Wrigley year-round for at least one year instead of mostly during the offseasons.

Yeah, that was great, and so were all of the other ones I listed. The Pierre one was really the only outlier in terms of overpaying for someone they really didn't need based on an overly simplistic idea ("we need a leadoff hitrer!"). [expletive], Hendry's big trades were pretty good.

Please explain, because that's not the kind of move Hendry made a lot. Hendry chased a lot of "it worked for them, we should do that" situations. That's true; I thought he was talking about the trade itself, which was relatively rare for Hendry (at least on that scale; you had that, Lee, Nomar and...Aramis? Am I missing anyone?). He usually chased trends via FA.

WOULD have preferred Dunn; I don't think anyone is sitting here thinking that Dunn ultimately was the better option. And yeah, people would have paid more for Dunn because presumably you could have moved him to 1B or as a DH and just let him do his thing without his defense dragging him down; for whatever reason it didn't work out that way.

Why? Pierre sucked and Dunn ended up sucking; what's the big deal?

I'd much rather the Cubs would have been willing and/or able to work out playing somewhere else for at least a year to help speed along this interminable process.
