  1. If Gameday is accurate tonight...I kinda agree with him.
  2. I think there's zero chance that nobody in baseball knew what was up with Mel Hall, or at least heard rumors/gossip/etc.. https://www.sbnation.com/2014/7/15/5883593/the-many-crimes-of-mel-hall
  3. Sadly, that's the best his hair has looked in a long time.
  4. Would prefer to keep seeing Caratini at C and Contreras at 1B as long as Rizzo is out. I'm not sure I trust Contreras at 1st as much as I trust Caratini there I think Caratini is better defensively at either spot, but much more critically at catcher. I seriously doubt Contreras would be worse than merely adequate at 1B.

  6. Yeah, if he somehow manages to not get much jail time (hopefully hugely unlikely), I honestly would be kinda stunned if some team didn't sign him given how good he's been, unfortunately. horsefeathers, I wish I could say for sure I'd think the Cubs would never do such a thing, but... I’d be surprised if a team signed him. The kid from Oregon State would have been a top pick in the draft a couple years ago but didn’t even get drafted due to child molestation when he was 15. The cynical side side of says that was still more due to him being a baseball prospect, no matter how highly rated, and still at least a relative long shot to ever be useful. The EXTRA cynical side of me says that a guy who has shown for 3 seasons in a row that he is a premier closer would almost certainly be signed if he managed to sneak away with minimal or no jail time.
  7. You might have too much faith in professional sports.
  8. *Talks about the very important Cardinals/Brewers games*
  9. People can go nuts in the "Other Games" thread. The urgency of the horsefeathering Cubs game is directly tied in to how the Cardinals and Brewers are doing if they're playing at the same time. Christ.
  10. Please point us to the apparent deluge of freaking out posts that weren't about things like the Cardinals or Brewers tying or taking the lead in their games. Y'know, the things that matter when you're scoreboard watching since your team's fate is hinged largely on how those other teams do.
  11. I mean, I guess pretending like the Cubs aren't battling game by game to make the playoffs against a pair of division rivals who could swing their fate with the division or the WC is one way to approach things. Like, you get the difference between, "oh, boo-hoo, the Cubs suck, look at the Brewers annihilating this other team in May," and, "there's a very real and timely metric right how that hinges on how how the Brewers and Cardinals perform directly relative to how the Cubs do literally every day," right?
  12. TMan92 all up in this thread like: http://giphygifs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/DjVCpTvzAKLaE/giphy.gif
  13. Ding Dong and the Cubs busting out at the right time.
  14. You're griping about Cubs fans keeping track of a division rival who could easily keep them out of the playoffs. TMan is literally watching the other two games instead of this one. I can't imagine living my life as a fan that way Nobody tell him about...modern technology, I guess.
  15. Ryan, you dork. Way to burn a Phelps appearance.
  16. Perfect derwoodian response. Keep doing you Ninny's gonna ninny all up in this thread You're griping about Cubs fans keeping track of a division rival who could easily keep them out of the playoffs.
  17. Shouldn't the Cubs have 4 more wins? Baseball gonna baseball. I mean, sure, the team that has a -30 run differential will definitely keep winning at a .900 clip. Why should the Cubs even play? Let's all pay way more attention to our opponents' games than our own. /things people think/do in this thread The point is that the Brewers are right there with the Cubs, have a VERY easy schedule, and are showing RIGHT NOW that they can win well above what they "should" be doing. And you know this...man.
  18. A .507 team just won at a .909 clip over their last 11 games and played much better competition too (Cubs, Cardinals) Oh also that .507 team was the Brewers So that's going to keep going the rest of the season? They aren't due for a massive regression? Shouldn't the Cubs have 4 more wins? Baseball gonna baseball.
