  1. Patton's already throwing up on the mound, you sadist.
  2. Wow, talk about being let off the hook. Thanks, stupid Brewers.
  3. Is anyone really freaking out? As soon as the 4th run scored, there was a string of "pull him, he's got nothing" posts. I don't see that at all.
  4. And I'm not saying that the only reason to trade Soler (or, say, Baez) is for a pitcher; it's just A option, and it's not a bad one despite you all but insisting that the Cubs only trade players like that for someone they can immediately slide into action on the big league team. The whole "horsefeathers pitchers/keep everyone" thing is cute, but it's not always going to be realistic, and it's not bonkers think the Cubs are maybe going to have to address their starting rotation sooner rather than later.
  5. You're going to wake up tonight and just find Hendricks staring at you from the foot of your bed. I was only being formal. Plus Jake is still the WAR leader on the staff with 3.7 to Hendricks' 3.0 WAR is prejudiced against guys as mild-mannered-looking as Hendricks. It should be something like 8.6.

  7. Maybe nobody. Pitching depth is a thing, plus 3/5th's of the rotation are likely gone after next season. What, is it crazy to suggest they trade for a pitcher who *GASP* maybe doesn't start the 2017 season in the starting rotation? So you're going to trade Soler for a minor leaguer? Better be a damn good one. Or two. Or it's someone they trade for and send to the minors until someone gets hurt or pitches terribly for a while or until their contracts are up after 2016. It's not a terrible idea to want to see the Cubs look to keep the starting pitching awesomeness going down the line when their internal options and the FA options to do so are so scant, and when what they have right now is so old and basically has no real sustained backup of any kind.
  8. So would you plan to go with a six man rotation all year? If not, who would you kick out for next season? Maybe nobody. 9. And when they're playing defense they look like this: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/drunken-peasants-podcast/images/9/9b/Shellshocked.gif/revision/latest?cb=20150717215959
  10. GIVE HIM THAT JUICY ZOBRIST OBP, DAMMIT.
  11. I assume standers also use urinals like this: http://boston.barstoolsports.com/files/2013/02/airportguy1.jpg
  12. I don't think anyone is saying they can't fit all of these guys in; some of us would just prefer to see them use some of their assets from a part of the team where they have an embarrassment of riches to improve an area of the team that has basically no depth, is pretty damn old and has been cruising pretty luckily sans any major injuries for a while. If the starting pitching FA market didn't look so barren for the foreseeable future, great, don't even think about trading anyone, but if 1-2 of these guys can be moved in a way that allows them to still have a dominant offense and really bolsters the starting pitching, hey, great.
  13. Or you'd want juicy OBP in front of the guy who walks or puts the ball in play 85-90% of the time It's not like it's a BAD thing, but since Joe seems to have moved away from batting someone besides the pitcher 9th as much as he did before, I figured he'd still want more guys on base ahead of Bryant and Rizzo; as good as Addison is, I'm a simple creature and I want many men on base for the dong monsters.
  14. One would think they would want that juicy OBP in front of Rizzo and Bryant, but what do I know.
  15. Ben Zobrist is a very productive hitter, and this is basically just me meatballing, but continually seeing him in the cleanup spot when he hasn't donged since July 9th is kind of driving me a little insane. Especially since there are young, vital dongsmen lurking lower in the lineup.
  16. Sounds very hookers & blow-related.
  17. Personally, I think his key flaws are mitigated significantly if he can be a DH, hence him ideally having decent value despite those flaws after finally a sustained stretch of hitting. What kind of value are you getting for a DH only? Seriously asking, seems like you'd be lucky to get an Odorizzi level talent or else would have to take a gamble on a injured guy coming back with upside like Garrett Richards I'm not expecting them to trade Soler straight up for another pitcher. I'd think they'd use him as a key piece in a trade. Also, it's not like teams would ONLY be looking for him as a DH; I'm sure plenty of teams would assume or hope they could get him to perform tolerably in LF or at 1B.
