  1. Rizzo's the only one I'm worried about; Russell has had plenty of stretches where he stinks with the bat and the team did fine. They've dealt with Heyward all season, too, and kicked ass. But Rizzo being ice cold seems like it's having a pretty big ripple effect.
  2. Good point; it's been a whole 24 hours since they scored 8. The Cubs won't win anything with Russell and Rizzo struggling the way they are. You can't hide that forever. How are they "hiding" them?
  3. Good point; it's been a whole 24 hours since they scored 8. I don't think we can count on 9th inning grand slams going forward. This offense has been bad the entire postseason It's not like a grand slam scores 8 runs; it's been up and down. It seems a tad premature to be writing the team off in a series where they're 1-1 and just lost 1-0.

  5. Well, that was boring. Going to be a long couple of days.

  7. Lol at "butt lord" being diplomacy. http://i.giphy.com/3oEduUJgrJnTH093yw.gif
  8. I have no faith in this team's ability to draft and develop a QB. We could get the second coming of Peyton Manning and still screw it up. Yeah, they're clearly mired in mediocrity at best from top to bottom of the entire organization. They're pretty much doomed until something drastic happens to get some smarter people running things.
  9. Well, hopefully they're not regularly having to use a bunch of relievers for the 6th and 7th.
  10. Oh my god, this made my day.
  11. To put it more diplomatically: I feel more confident that Heyward will go out there and be awesome defensively and get on base once or twice than Soler hitting well enough to offset him playing one of the corners like a butt lord.
  12. I figured if people didn't want Heyward in the lineup tonight it would be for Almora, because what the horsefeathers has Soler done to show he needs to be in there? Yeah, let's anchor the corner OF spots with him and Zobrist with the wind tonight...yeesh.
  13. Remember how he destroyed the ball when he got off the DL this year?
  14. Edwards' status is a big factor there. He hasn't been used back to back once all year to try to keep him healthy, I wonder if they let him go tonight with an off day tomorrow. Wow, I didn't know that was the case. Hope he can go tonight if needed; outside of the cringe-inducing final pitch selection in that walk, I feel damn good when he's out there.
  15. I'm assuming/hoping Maddon and co. won't shy away from using Strop in key spots; I thought ht actually looked pretty good yesterday and mostly got boned by a couple of bad calls and Bryant's, uh, "interesting" fielding choice. Rondon, on the other hand, still scares the hell out of me. He looked better yesterday, but still very hittable.
  16. To be fair, whoever made this comment is pretty great:
  17. Thomas and A-Rod, however, are really good. Much more enjoyable than most MLBN postgame guys.
  18. I just can't get past how hideous Rose looks and sounds.
  19. Yeah, come on; Derwood's skillful wielding of incisive sarcasm clearly makes him the McSweeney's of NSBB. I mean, just look at how amazingly accurate this thread is a sendup of the kind of obnoxious, preening douche who should never be taken seriously. Who could possibly write something this insipid seriously on a public forum? Certainly not our man Derwood. Truly masterful. http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/scsc.gif
  20. http://www.trbimg.com/img-5802fbce/turbine/ct-cubs-dodgers-game1-nlcs-photos-088/900/900x506 How I'm gonna look back in Chicago next week looking at a beef after the Cubs finish steamrolling these clowns.

  22. Yeah, walking Heyward to get to Baez but sticking with Blanton to face Montero is a curious bit of anti-logic. He must have been some combination of consumed with getting to Chapman's spot in the order and terrified of Contreras facing Dayton.
  23. The "Joe Buck is the Zodiac Killer" sign won the night.
