Yes, if Jake Arrieta had given us a crafted treatise responding to the people that actually said such a thing, fine, but instead going with "DUR-HUR, GIT OUT, HOLLYWOOD" the morning after a stunningly divisive election just makes him sound like a dumbass. Who gives a horsefeathers if someone said they might leave the country? People are touchy about the connotations of the whole "horsefeathers HOLLYWOOD" meme the Right has trafficked in for so long because we just elected a president whose campaign trafficked very much in thinly veiled anti-Semitic rhetoric that got some long-standing biases REALLY riled and being vocalized. Do I think Arrieta is someone like that? No. Do I think it's a lazy, tone deaf thing to say, and with things being how they are right now some people are going to be disappointed in him and worry he's maybe a Schilling-in-the-making? Yeah, that makes sense.
