  1. Zobrist, if you don't score a run here then GOD IS DEAD.
  2. If Rizzo dongs here then the season is saved. If he doesn't, they are cursed to nothing but listening to Sublime and the Chili Pepps.
  3. Damn, based on Gameday, I guess Butler was basically daring that last guy to dong the horsefeathers out of him.
  4. It's a recipe for sustained success; get them behind immediately so a lineup filled with struggling players presses even more. Add the bonus of battling just to have league average-quality defense, and VOILA: a treading water .500 team out of one that should be dominating fools.
  5. EAT POOP, JOE. He went bonkers during game 6 of the WS and never looked back.
  6. LET'S TALKY-TALK AND MORE GAME THREAD STARTY-START. Put yer money where yer mouths are.
  7. Yeah, Duke's tired of jacking guys one by one and just going for the death blow now.
  8. Winning the terrible division wouldn't surprise me; the Cubs actually doing much in the postseason if they don't SIGNIFICANTLY improve from where they are right now would. Which, hey, very well could happen! But it just kinda sucks a third of the season is gone and that the defense, starting pitching AND offense are all where they are. It doesn't seem unreasonable at all for people to be pessimistic given the expectations going in to the season. Even anticipating some regressing, being this mediocre after 60 games is worrisome, and ideally being able to scrap to come out ahead in a division of turds isn't exactly comforting.
  9. Yeah, I'm struggling to feel super optimistic about this team suddenly turning it around; if it was just the starting pitching or the offense underperforming, fine...but that it's both? And that a team that was SO good defensively (and projected, like the offense, to dominate again this year) has seen that regress so much, too? It just seems like they need to turn so much around, and now it's a third of the way into the season.
  10. Did you know that Cubs have almost the worst team batting average in baseball? It's true! Only the Padres are worse. 18th in team OPS, 16th in OBP, 20th in slugging, 13th in dongs.... These are stanky times for a championship team.
  11. He's a sham! A SHAM. This team is a collection of mediocre reprobates and he is NO BETTER.
  12. I don't have the sound on....is there any specific reason why he was bunting as the cleanup hitter with runners on 1st and 3rd and 0 outs? I'm really confused. Dunno; all I've got is Gameday.
  13. If they lose this game, they'll be all of 3 wins off a 90 win pace. 5 wins off a 95 win pace. We've been spoiled by the super Cubs starting with Schwarber's arrival in 2015, but they're still in a spot where one streak puts them right back on track. Or another losing streak kicks them in the dicks. WOMP-WOMP.
  14. My Name is Zobrist and I'm here to say that I suck in the cleanup spot in a major way
  15. Everything that was good is now bad. Light is dark. Dogs are cats. Mozart is Sublime.
  16. Berkman has no time for anyone unless they fearfully pray to the same thunder god he's so afraid of.
  17. Enough with the [expletive] Happ leading off experiment already.
