    I have been on vacation way up north with minimal WiFi, so this the first game I have seen post-ASB; clearly the reports of a winning streak are vindictive fake news, because this is obviously the same horsefeathers Cubs I last left off with.

    Was he? I mean, yeah, Hendry's reasoning and execution of trading for just a single season are pretty clunky at best, but the dude was a 3.1 fWAR player that season for the Cubs. The 2006 Cubs were butt, but maybe it's time to look back a bit more positively on ol' Slappy. yeah when you brought that up recently it blew my mind that he provided that much value. i remember him being pretty universally loathed around these parts back then. Oh, definitely. I had nothing but a negative perception of his short stint on the Cubs until randomly looking him up earlier this year and being surprised at the Fangraphs value. Granted, BR only had him at 2.0, but honestly, even that was better than what I was expecting. I mean, really, 2006 was just such a dumpster fire of a season; it was easy to kinda hate everything.

    I remember when Ricky Nolasco hit what wound up being his peak and Pinto and Mitre looked like they'd be useful for awhile, that I thought the Pierre trade was going to be looked back on as a disaster.     I want to keep Montgomery because the Cubs' pitching prospect tract is a yawning abyss of despair and they can't afford to trade him away.

    Even I scoffed. Super weird I don't remember the details of a trade from nine years ago. That trade was horsefeathering amazing. Only the Nomar trade was more exciting for the Cubs in recent history.
