  1. Sounds like somebody's a little worried about getting out ahead of something.
  2. Side note - I'm mad that Happ is doing this "interview after HR thing" because it hurts the image I have of Happ being a soulless serial killer I've justified it in that one day he will slaughter everyone he interviews, and then the footage of him doing the interviews will be his hideous trophies. Also: the moment with Baez can be seen as sinister if you look at his smile as being something like this:
  3. If Baez can make this soulless creep smile like that, then he truly is El Mago.
  4. I find it odd that anyone would think getting worked up over a team not scoring at all for just shy of FIVE COMPLETE GAMES would be "meatballery." I mean, there's meatballin', and then there's recognizing that that would be a flat out horrendous stretch of offense, especially for a team like the Cubs. This is what the Royals are doing. They haven't scored since the 2nd inning on Thursday. I suppose no take would be too hot, short of a Bryzzo demotion or something, if we ever experienced that. Yes, I know that's what the Royals have been doing. You were asking if people could "withhold the meatballery" if the Cubs had done the same thing.
  5. http://deadspin.com/the-mets-have-shut-down-david-wright-and-his-battered-b-1798524058 Man, the Mets are the worst, but I can't help but feel bad for Wright. Guy would have had a legit slam dunk HOF career if not for his body just completely falling apart.
  6. you better turn out better than we got the whole 9 did with justin wilson on this Before I remembered that that was someone's screen name, I read this sentence, like, 5 times thinking I was having a stroke.

  8. Defensive metrics make me an even bigger idiot than normal, but FG seems to be showing it wouldn't that crazy at all for someone else to get it (unless 2B SS defensive numbers are down across the board).
  9. While playing him in the OF would be adorable insanity, I would happily take his bat in the lineup over stankin' Heyward, which is a thing I never thought I would say. Don't look at Heyward's OPS for the last month. http://33.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_llr63k9gRn1qf3q8io1_500.gif

  11. The game threads are still set up like that, but this place stalls out almost every time something big happens.
  12. Eh, everyone wants their team to be run by people who actually know what they're doing, which seems to be a rarity in the NFL these days (I think of the major sports it's easily the one with the most just flat-out terrible front offices).
  13. Cool, yeah I could totally be wrong. So won't keep arguing after you've conceded the other side is a possibility but one other thing I wanted to note about the WTF response. All these espn guys (or local guys guys like Biggs who said it was down to safety or Thomas) want us to think they've got the scoop. They spend months before the draft on mocks, arguing that they've got sources, they know who the best guys are etc. Every one of them got pantsed, so in the immediate aftermath their defense mechanisms are going to kick in. I look at something like Polian giving Pace an A++ after the draft or Ron Wolf (who traded for Favre) saying he liked the move or the scouts that were quoted saying MT will be the best QB in the last like 6 years or something. I'm sure there were leagu sources who thought it was dumb but I haven't seen a lot of actual GMs quote as saying that. Plus there's the obvious appeal of wanting to think that this young, first-time GM was just pulling off his first big move and it's indicative of what's to come (and that very well could be the case).
  14. Is that sheer disbelief still out there? Because, I don't see it now. No idea.
  15. IMO, that seems like a reach given the sheer amounts of "WTF are they doing" reactions from within and around the league, but hey, who knows? You make a persuasive case.
