  1. I get it, but I have also never been convinced of Happ being anything more than a fourth outfielder. Happ is so much more than a 4th outfielder. He's a podcaster a coffee entrepreneur and art dealer too The Talented Mr. Happ
  2. Does anyone say "M's" or "O's"? I've heard "Os" used regularly. Yeah, I hear that more than the actual team name around here.
  3. Oh, right. Baseball used to be good.
  4. Put where it belongs, baby: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2624&start=150
  5. And the Brewers being in 4th place last year was them being 5 games back after only 60 games. There's not some kind of stupid timey-wimey, disease malaise, nonsense reason for the numbers last year like you keep pretending; it was basically just like the season got chopped of after only 60 games. Possibly making up 5 games with 102 games to go is actually A Thing. The Cubs, by contrast, are in and out of 4th place on a daily basis, 8-9 games back after 95 horsefeathering games. Trying to act like these are the same situation "BECAUSE COVID!!!!!!" is horsefeathering stupid.
  6. You keep talking about COVID like it's somehow made all baseball data from 2020 and this season totally nebulous.
  7. OK? It's the same thing; I wasn't putting that out there like "clickbait" is some kinda gotcha or insult; I just think it's a largely meaningless criticism since, of course, literally every media outlet is trying to get people to read/watch/listen to/etc. their content. Right, we agree; this is a story simply because it's about famous people AND the details are so horsefeathering weird/pathetic. IMO, there's no "maybe" about Ross; if there was weird horsefeathers behind his divorce, we definitely would have heard about it, too.
  8. I have no idea if it applies to her, but these days "Instagram famous" can legit mean someone is absurdly (terrifyingly?) famous within that medium with insane numbers. See also: YouTube/Twitch/Twitter/etc. famous. Someday someone much smarter than me will come up with some kind of insightful breakdown of how much fame has mutated so quickly into a very different thing thanks to social media. Like, someone can have tens of millions of followers or hundreds of millions of views, and yet seemingly most people on the street will have no clue who they are. "content creators" Right? The whole "content" thing cracks me up. It's like THIS close to just saying, "I dunno; here's some more horsefeathers for you to consume."
  9. Some of what I do involves promoting Christian concerts. I’ve asked some of those people about it as a Cubs fan and they know nothing of her. She is non-existent in those circles. She is only Instagram famous. I have no idea if it applies to her, but these days "Instagram famous" can legit mean someone is absurdly (terrifyingly?) famous within that medium with insane numbers. 10. Because it's a ridiculous story, and ridiculous celebrity gossip has been a thing forever. "Clickbait" would be, "You'll Never Believe the Insane Details of David Ross' Divorce!!!!" and then the actual blog or article or whatever pulls a bait and switch and it's just about the boring David Ross divorce we never really heard about because it was so boring and involved David Ross, who is history's most boring monster. My horsefeathering apologies for my horsefeathering incorrect use of the horsefeathering term" click bait" JFC...
  11. And the reason why anyone knows any of the details is because of... You're right... it is an awesomely juicy gossip story. That's why the divorce updates keep coming. I know David Ross is divorced. But I had to look it up; it was just last year. If it was reported in the media, it probably garnered a couple paragraphs, tops. It's not a reach at all to think Ben's divorce proceedings are "click bait" given some of the information that's come out already.
  12. It's an awesomely juicy gossip story about two ridiculous public figures. Trying to frame it like "the press" are somehow reaching for clicks seems like a bit of a stretch.
  13. Also making him go to counseling with the man you are cheating with. That's some next level horsefeathers. That part is confusing; the articles I read make it sound like they definitely went went to counseling after she told him she was having an affair...but did she not tell him who with? They're vague on that part. Zobrist seems like a dope and a half, so who the horsefeathers knows. Also: "Pastor Yawn" still will never not be horsefeathering hilarious.
  14. What the horsefeathers was that.
  15. Turns out I was WAY too generous. 538 has them with a 4% chance of winning the division. Fangraphs with the 1.4(!!!!!!!)% chance. Keep horsefeathering that chicken, dude.
  16. The VBs simply have to maintain first for 68 games/2.5 months with a still crap offense and alot of the meat on their pitching staff entering uncharted territory. What could go wrong?! I love how you mention their offense sucks as if ours is bounds better. We're a 91 and they're a 90. Since June began we are dead last at 79 and they are 12th at 105. Its done dude. Just drop the charade. And he's acting like it's somehow just a matter of the Cubs outpacing/lasting the Brewers, as opposed to the Brewers AND the two other teams technically ahead of the Cubs right now.
  17. This dude ranting like the Cubs have better than maybe a, what, 7% chance of winning the division?
  18. Who cares if a trash Cubs team can catch up to a trash Brewers team. That's arguably/pretty much definitely the worst outcome.
  19. You're definitely rolling.
  20. Could be overuse but interesting that it started falling apart when sticky tack was banned. Perhaps the pitching lab just just a lab where they developed sticky substances. Sucks if true because it was the most innovative thing they seemed to be doing while the farm system languished and the star hitters all regressed into a bottom tier offense. Yes yes World Series thank you and all that but what is this org doing well right now? I know there is promise in the minors but it’s not exactly a top 15 system at this point is it? Sorry I’m being overly negative and maybe unfair I just see nothing but negatives within the cubs right now 5 years ago my faith in the cubs was at an all-time high. right now it's at an all-time low. i don't have faith in ownership or the front office. i think the cubs are going to be irrelevant for a long time. we have to suffer through another rebuild just to hope that a) we hit on prospects and b)ownership is willing to spend when we get close to competitive. the players are bad and unlikable. the front office is dumb. ownership is straight up evil. len is gone. it's just all terrible. treeman got out at the right time If you had told 2016-me that just 5 years out from the Cubs winning the World Series I would have zero emotional reaction beyond "meh" to the idea of the rest of the key WS players on the verge of being cast aside, I would have laughed in your face.
